I suggest the Landyachtz rally cat. I've trimmed the nose on mine so it resembles a cruiser with rocker. I've also filed out the wheel wells, though not necessary, and tucked 75mm durians on Independent Stage 11 hollow 149mm trucks. The wheels stay under the board so I can ride in wet conditions without spraying me with water. The kicktail is helpful, the rocker offsets the height of the wheels for a nicer push, and the whole board is pretty light.

I just bought my very first deck, a blank from skateshred, and a wheel and truck set. I plan to commute (hopefully) a short distance. The deck I purchased is a 40"x 9.25" pintail. I'm excited to start riding.
@bloggerplot

Awesome! Make sure your trucks are wide enough for the deck though, and that your deck has enough clearance for your wheels! You need to avoid wheelbite at all cost especially when making tight turns. Ride on!

Hi, what would you recommend for the best flat ground pumping Longboard? I need something very pumpable, but also stable for pushing and some hills. I have a landyachtz pocket knife, and it's too unstable for hills and pushing. Any help would be great. Thanks for the video;)
@insanogeddon
@insanogeddon Год назад
My advice: buy a board with a wheel base option ~15 or over, Buy indy stage 4 trucks (they pump great) matching or just under the board width, get riser pads / wedges (wedge front and back thin part pointing forward in direction of travel), get ceramic or bones red bearings, add dragon wheels biggest size you can get (you can slide them but feel soft). This set up can push/pump/dodge/slide and at a low cost. It will last a couple years and by then you will have the basics down, the stamina/structure to progress, and know which direction you want to go next but have a good grounding necessary for safety.

Dude, this is an awesome video, thank you! I'm an old dude (63), but I used to surf and started skateboarding in the mid-1960s. I had one of the very first wooden skateboards in my city (it had primitive clay wheels that slid all over the place). I'm looking for a longboard to cruise along our beach paths, but I'm also thinking that it has to be nimble enough to make some quicker turns because the beach path has some tighter turns and I'll likely have to dart in and out of pedestrian traffic. If you have any recommendations, I'd welcome them! Thanks again. Liked and subscribed.

Hey, if you're a surfer and once skater you may want at a surfskate, that should be a blast to ride for you. You want one you can also mellow cruise on along beach paths. Check out this post for some ideas: www.ridingboards.com/best-surfskate-for-cruising/ Here's a hint though: Loaded has something awesome coming early August which would be a perfect fit for you. I've tested it and I instantly got hooked. Amazing for cruising, carving, surf style. If you can wait a bit longer before buying, I'll post a video here in about 10 days. Ride on!

Hello sir. I was hoping you could help me out. I wanna buy a longboard for commuting throughout Antwerp to my workplaces. I have to be at different places in the city and I will be facing straight bicycle lanes, busy streets and all sorts of vehicles and pedestrians. The distance from home to work is 2 to 3 miles. Besides just pushing, I also wanna learn how to carve after some time. I was interested in either the sector 9 mini lookout or sector 9 bob marley’s natural mystic. Both are different boards. I saw videos of both and the mini lookout seemed so wobbly at higher speeds, which I don’t want. And the natural mystic didn’t seem to have that issue in the video. The board should be easy to store away and carry around. I’m 6” and 200 lbs and 32 years old. I workout regularly with calisthenics and this seemed like a way to complement my workouts and take it to the next level and have fun going to work. Out of these boards, which one would you recommend? Thank you so much if you do decide to take time to answer me and help me out. euroskateshop.uk/sector-9-natural-mystic-longboard.html euroskateshop.uk/sector-9-macking-mini-lookout-longboard.html

Hello thank you for the video, very informative. I was wondering if anyone, could comment. I am debating on getting an electric longboard or a long distance push longboard for my commute to work. Is it realistic to try to longboard 8 miles (I think 12.8 KM) in under 1 hour time on mostly flat ground or would that not be realistic with a push board?
@lucasesau4568

I just bought a skate board, but once i get the hang of it Im switching the bearings and wheels to better bearings and bigger, softer wheels (from 100a/55mm to somewhere around 80-85a/60mm), and Im buying shock pads (maybe riser pads too).
@RidingBoards
@RidingBoards 3 года назад
Cool, make sure your deck has enough wheel clearance for the bigger wheels though. I'm able to run 70 or 75mm wheels on my Loaded decks. Softer squared lip wheels will give you better grip and cushioning too.

Can you please recommend a couple specific boards. Or at lest give us your favorite boards to commute on.
@RidingBoards
@RidingBoards 5 лет назад
It depends what kind of commuting you do. For crowded city streets/sidewalks I love the Landyachtz Dinghy, or if you have the budget, the Loaded Poke. For longer distances though, the Loaded Icarus and Sama would be my favorite, or for serious pushing/skogging, a double-drop like the Arbor Dropcruiser.
@DenisZ2023
@DenisZ2023 5 лет назад
@@RidingBoards thanks for replying. I commute about 3 miles each way to work everyday. Streets I commute on are not crowded at all. I am a pretty new to longboarding. Only done it a handful of times but enjoyed every single second of it.
@RidingBoards
@RidingBoards 5 лет назад
@@DenisZ2023 For 3 miles each way, and if you're a newer longboarder, I would look at a low riding board such as a drop deck or double drop (e.g. the Dropcruiser or Switch). For comfortable pushing you may want a midsized deck e.g. in the 38"-42" range. Other things you want to look at is how much you need to carry your board (bigger is heavier) and what kind of riding you'll likely move toward besides commuting (cruising? Freeride? Dancing? Carving?) That will also influence your choice for a commuter board - unless you just want to commute on it.

Hello I wanted to know if a Globe Bannerstone or Globe Spearpoint would be a good idea for commuting. I take the bus and I also go on campus. Thank you

@RidingBoards 5 лет назад
Hey Eugene, I haven't tried these boards but it looks like the Spearpoint is going to bite a lot. The Bannerstone looks alright for the price. Also check the Pantheon Ember, a much smaller board but a really good mini commuter with high quality components : 73mm Speed Vents and Paris trucks. It's a little pricier though. Check out the review www.ridingboards.com/pantheon-ember-review Hope this helps!

thank you for the video what do you think of bintang abyass sector9 and the monkey king Paradiso sector9 for commuting and sliding ( just to let you know i am a beginner amd my left knee is very weak) which one is more suitable?
@RidingBoards
@RidingBoards 2 года назад
Both are symmetrical cutout drop-through. stable and low riding for commuting. The Paradiso seems to have a lot more concave and wheel flares for foot lock-in when freeriding and sliding. Also seems like the Paradiso is 2+ inch longer and 1/2" wider than the Bintang, with bigger wheels (2mm extra). If you're a bigger/heavier rider I'd say go for the Paradiso. if you're on the smaller side you could choose the Bintang maybe, but you'll have less foot tuck in. Sliding may be a bit easier with the smaller wheels, but you can still get the Paradiso and change to smaller harder wheels for sliding e.g. 65mm 82A wheels. Hope this helps

Hi we're can I get a longboard in the UK to go to work on
@RidingBoards
@RidingBoards 5 лет назад
Hi, you can find a lot of choice on Amazon UK e.g. the Dinghy: amzn.to/2PqgeSe Now to choose the right board, ask yourself questions like, what kind of commute are you facing? City? Sidewalks? Open road? Hills? How much distance? Train? What's your skill level? Do you like to carve? Shred? just push? Relaxed cruising?
@moldilocks2904

Could you reccomend a specific board or build that lets you coast for longer distances?
@RidingBoards
@RidingBoards 3 года назад
Many longboards with quality trucks, wheels, and bearings have great roll. Some boards are easier to push and as a result each kick give you more mileage. A drop-through rides closer to the ground which makes for easier and more effective pushing. You can find great boards from any top brand (Landyachtz, Loaded, Arbor, Sector9, etc) for distance pushing. Loaded is my personal favorite, pricier but insane quality tech and components. For distance, the tan tien www.ridingboards.com/loaded-tan-tien-review , the Dervish Sama, or the Icarus are great drop-throughs (comparison guide www.ridingboards.com/best-loaded-board)

How does defining the difference between using a bike versus a skateboard have any bearing on how to choose a longboard?

It's a question people have been asking. They first need to decide whether they want a bike or longboard for commuting, then which longboard.
