Hi Luka, great video! Would you suggest a 32 or a 34cm long fin (mfc h1 g10) for my rrd xfire 98? I am 70kg an I will use a 7.0 and 6.3 sail on that board. Thank you for all your video btw!

Great video Luka! Thanks for the tips, I have a question! Do you think I can use a freeride fin in a freestyle wave board for early planing and speed? I have a RRD Freestyle wave pro 116 Ltd. V2 from 2011 237 x 70 cm with the MFC freewave 33 CNC G-10 powerbox. I weight 55 kilos plus wetsuit sometimes. Sometimes I sail with a 6.5 to 7.5 sail and I feel I need a bigger fin like a 36 - 38 cm but I'm not sure, if so should I get a Freewave bigger fin or a Freeride bigger fin? Are this boards design to use one kind of fin? Thank you for your time

Hi. I think you can put 36 to 38 fin on that board. When you do that try to ad o e more footstrap on the back of your board. With 2 footstraps on the back you will have better position on the board with bigger fin. Cheers

@@LukaMratovicCRO751 thanks for the response! One more question, can the Fin be a freeride or should I keep using Freewave?

I have a rrd xfire 114lt board and use 6.2m and 7.1m sails. I am 65kg, should I use 35cm or 37cm fin?

Very good video. Keep it coming. What happen if I put 32cm freeride fin on 70cm wide board? So, basically smaller fin than what it is supposed to. Would it work? Would it help in strong wind?

If it is easy to try that is the best. Then you will know but i think it won't be good.

Enjoyed this video a lot Luka. I like the tip of leaving screws in the board, never seen or heard of that tip before. I noticed you have a variety of fin brands , Chopper, Carpenter, and more. Are there some brands that you find better for the bigger sizes or planing and ones that you find better for overpowered top speed and control? Also if a stiffer fin is harder to get planing with but gives you better top speed will a softer smaller fin give you better planing and better top speed because it's smaller,(less area) , or will it be too hard to control because of the softer flex?
@LukaMratovicCRO751
@LukaMratovicCRO751 5 лет назад
I am glad that you liked the video👍. For the fin size don't think that 1 or 2 cm smaller fin will create more drag. Fins has good shape. Board will create drag if it is not flying. I see a lot of people useing fin too small and they cant lift the board. What you can do if you have softer fin you can choose 1 cm less then you will normally use.

@@LukaMratovicCRO751 Was looking for a brand of your favorite fin. Most of us don't have the selection or knowledge that a person such as yourself has so if we are going to spend a lot of money on a fin for a specific board it would help us to know what works for some of the pro's such as yourself. Thanks

When the board is lifting too much, how do you know if it’s because the fin is too soft or too big? Does the soft fin have a lower top speed?
@LukaMratovicCRO751
@LukaMratovicCRO751 5 лет назад
Softness shouldn't meke the difference in top speed it is more about control. If you can fly stabile long enough you will be closer to your top speed. You will feel when the fin is too soft it will lift your board and if it is too long it will overturn you. Loger fin creates more lateral force and soft uplift you. Hope i manage to answer your question.

The 114lt has a Tuttle box or a deep-Tuttle box?

It should be deep tuttle becouse it is foil box. Even 98l has deep tuttle
