I know I'm late but, thanks for the video! A few years ago, a friend of my dad, from Taiwan, gifted my mom a set of these tea pots, but since we are Mexican she never learned to use them, I remembered she had these and actually found them so now I'm trying to properly use them ^^

Very informative video, love it! Quick question, what's the proper way of cleaning the tea pots? Is it ok to use normal dishwashing liquids? Thanks in advance.

We don't recommend using dish soap or any cleaning agent for a clay teapot Boiling water should do the job.

many times I saw images of different tea pot shapes that should go with a certain type of tea (like flat ones should be used for puer, the very round ones for black/red teas, etc. It seems very complex. Would be fun to have your take on this deeper knowledge. What do you think, does it really matter? Will the difference be major?

One thing for sure, there won't be MAJOR difference. But we will definitely having more videos on such topic in the future.

How can I find a 100% yixing Zisha teapot handmade ?
@wongfeihung1847
@wongfeihung1847 4 года назад
How do I determine whether the clay teapot is real or not? Is the surface supposed to be rough or smooth? Also it would be hard to tell whether it has been dyed with colour since I don't think the teaware store would allow us to test it.
@ZhenteaCa
@ZhenteaCa 4 года назад
This is a really good question! However, it's also a question that is hard to answer in a few words, smooth or rough won't help you decide and there's no simple test we can perform at stores. The best way for a consumer to find a real Yixing clay teapot is to buy it from a trusted source. They are not rare, so it won't be hard to come across a real one.

Can you reset a used yixing teapot? I have been given one from my friend, i am just keen to know if it’s worth it or should i just a new one? Any help pls
@ZhenteaCa
@ZhenteaCa 2 года назад
Great question! Unless there's obvious reason that this teapot is not suitable for tea brewing anymore, I would go ahead and try it out. And see how you feel 😁. But if you'd like to try a reset, feel free to use the "opening" method mentioned in the video. Depends on the teapot's situation, it might or might not be a successful reset. I'll have a Q&A video about teapot coming out soon, and I'll explain more in depth in the video.

Totally agree. There's an unnecessary obsession with yixing. It's a nice option, but there are others. It's all about what work for you.

It’s not real zisha, if people want zisha, they want it. Most people on the market (Chinese) are more willing to bay big bucks, because they focus on the art itself, rather than the effects on tea.

This is a really personal choice. Once you've considers the tips on the video it's really how you feel about the tea and the pot. Oolong, black and dark tea are the ones we prefer in yixing. If you happen to use Instagram we'd love to see your teapot (we are a little bit addicted 😉).

Should I just leave it with green and see what happens? What type of pot should I use for green tea? Maybe a gaywan? Thank you for your videos I love your channel!

Yes, we ship to California and all of the USA (and internationally too). Our prices are in both USD and CAD (EUR and GBP too), there's a currency selector at the top of the web page, but it's supposed to automatically switch based on your location. I hope that helps and happy sipping!

It's "recommended" but certainly not devastating if it's not done. It's more important (and much trickier) to consistently care for the pot to develop the patina. 🫖
