Thanks bud. I'll be a first timer in the backcountry this year. I've flaked through some pretty knurled pow, and everything inbetween, but I've never owned skins or tracked on my skis. Is there a skin that doesn't rely on a sticky substance?
There have been some attempts. The challenge is surface contamination. Some manufacturers used a silicone-like surface to contact the ski. Glue is the most reliable, I've found.
