Just dunk it in water with soap and soak it, I promise nothing bad will happen. If you are really lazy you could probably throw the thing in the washing machine.
I don't think this is good advice. While the pebbled leather is water repellant, it's not meant to soak it and it could lose its capability to repell water, if you undo the shrinking process by dunking it, since the leather will stretch out in the water. There is no guarantee it will shrink back and you might end up with a very floppy bag and porous surface that won't be able to repell water.
What did u clean with just water I found one that is really pretty but its been used alot its leather but the inside is really dirty and the leather on the out side is really worn just wondering what I could use to clean it up some Its probably a ten to fifteen yr old purse thank u
Haha that's ok, john! You have been my longest supporter since I started this channel! I appreciate it! My first name brand purse. A vintage one, but I like it☺ I bet she had a successful eBay business☺
Lovely purse! You could go ahead and use a mild soap to clean it with the washing cloth and distilled water, then rub it down with pure distilled water to get rid of the soap residue. Very satisfiying, though, to see what you got out of there. ; )
It’s turning dark because you are wetting it. It is leather! I had my db leather wallet one night and my boyfriend decided while he was drunk to throw my wallet over an 8ft fence into the marsh and it sat there for 10 days! Everything was completely covered in mold but I let it dry out for 5 days and not wet anymore I wiped all the mold out, washed the money and all my things! Terrible experience 8:30 on night but whatever I found it so that’s all that matters!
@@AtHomeWithJenn indeed!! And yes I do it’s doing great!!! I’ve never seen another wallet like it, and I searched the internet for days and I never found it at all so I’m glad I was able to find it in under 3 minutes!!
This is sooo cool! I have a Dooney and Bourke purse - mine is probably circa 1987. I was carrying cheap purses and wearing a hole in them within 3 months. One day my mom and I were at the mall and - AAAAAHHHHH! - there they were. The D&B purses. It was soooo expensive but sooo sturdy. It was the style that looks kind of like a saddle bag and the bottom was this rigid leather with some serious brass feet. Guess what? I carried that puppy for 10 years. Like, I mean it was my MAIN purse for like 10 years. LOL. I went through a short phase where I didn't carry a purse, and I'm back on that kick again, actually (Pockets all the way baby!) so I guess we can't say it got 10 years of CONTINUOUS use, but the only reason I "retired" it was the strap. I need to get a new strap and give it a cleaning like you did this one. My mom has a couple of D&B purses in her closet that she got at Garage Sales. Even way back 10 years ago at a Garage sale I still think she paid like 40 bucks. $8 is a fantastic deal! My sister in law found one of the tiny crossbody bags at Goodwill. THAT is the one I'd love to find! They are so small they even have a loop on the back for optionally wearing it on your belt. You can get them on Etsy and eBay. I may break down and just buy one online. LOL - every time I go to a thrift store looking for the elusive D&B I come away without it but I still manage to spend like $10...so... it might save me money to just buy one online! There's one going on eBay for 31.75 right now... hmmm.....
Lol! This Dooney is my first 'name brand's purse, a vintage one but a name brand for $8!!! Keep a look out at garage sales etc.for a strap. The current bags are too foofoo sheeshee for me. I like the vintage type. Wow! Your mom must have a cool collection of Dooney's! I'll keep an eye out for that small cross body Dooney when I go to the flea market for you 😉
