I just put mine on top of car secured with piece of gorilla duct tape through car wash. Then hit the highway afterwards put cruise control on 75-80 for 3 hour trip your GOLD! You'll have the cleanest non functional phone ever!

@@Qatari2007 usb c is harder to clean as it’s easier to damage during the cleaning process compared to lightning. Lightning hasn’t got anything in the middle, just on the bottom with the golden pins

Dental pick, Genius. I started with the dental pick and it pulled out some debris. I then got bold and got a very thin needle, powered off my phone and carefully scaped around the bottom and sides to remove the rest of the junk/debris. Now I can feel the USB-C charger click-in securly when I plug it in. Phone charges via USB-C again.

Was it only charging wirelessly before? Mine will charge ok with any USB A to C cable but acts the fool when I try to charge with a USB C to C cable. Both cable types tried with multiple cables and multiple chargers.

@@iamdave84 I had a pixel 2 with that issue. It will only charge with a USB A - C slow charger. If I tried to use a C to C fast charger it would not charge. Turned out to be a bad battery issue. After replacing the battery it charged normally.

I don't care what the haters say. This helped me fix my USB-C port that I don't use due to wireless charging so I can plug a USB-C wireless lavalier microphone system in to use to record better quality video audio. There was so much lint and dirt in the port that I couldn't see and the plastic dental pic allowed me to get it all out and now everything fits or seats correctly to work! My $120 Hohem MIC-01 works! Damn the audio is so crystal clear! Thanks again!

This is fine for pocket lint, but no good if there is real fine dust on the contact. You need a needle, some 70%+ alcohol, and a tiny bit of tissue paper. That's what you need.

Thank you so much! I thought my port was dead as it wouldn't *click* any cable and/or charge them, but it turned out to be little pieces of fabric debris from my pocket acting as a VERY compact cushion at the bottom. I was able to take it out with a sewing pin and then the compressed air finished the job ˆuˆ

Just an idea, if you are short on change, Instead of buying a plug to keep debris out you could cut the end off of a USB lightning cord that has Broken and you aren't able to use and use that instead.

As if we need anymore proof that Apple should have stayed with lightning ports, you could take a paper clip, a small knife, or anything else that would fit really- and scrub that port free of dirt- scrub that sucker until the cows come home- and they’d be fine, but the second I had to clean my usb c port- I did what any normal person would do: the usual, and I had to go pay for my charging port to be replaced

Don't use a towel to dry it off though, because then you might get fibers from the towel into the port again. Better to let it dry in a microwave, works much quicker too.

Usb c is complete shit compared to the old micro. Over 5 years per device I never had problems with charging and dust in usb micro, but have 3 broken usb c Ports in the last 4 years.

Or you can just get a case for your phone with covers for the charging port and, if it has one, the headphone jack. The case will also offer protection if you drop your phone. Prevention is better than cure.
