I agree with MrMnnn911, the video was very helpful. Note if you have hard water and your's is too far gone to clean this way, you can also replace the handle/water tube combination and the reservoir valve. Way cheaper than replacing the entire unit.

*_This video is so helpful. Thank you!_* I've had my WP-900 for 2 years now. My dentist recommended I get some type of water pick after having dental implants for my 4 front lower teeth. I chose the WP-900. In the past month the button on the handle began sticking and wouldn't come out without repeatedly pressing the button and sometimes tapping the handle on my hand. Today I used this entire cleaning method and everything seems fine now! I didn't know about this thorough cleaning method. I change my toothbrush every 3 months, at the change of the season, i.e., the beginning of spring, summer, fall and winter. And now I'll be cleaning my WP-900 on the same dates. Gotta say that when I took the handle out of the water/vinegar solution there was tiny blob of gunk in the glass. The button was still sticking but after I ran the vinegar/water solution though the unit it seems to have loosened up. I'm so glad I found this tutorial. I had already looked up my purchase records because I had purchased a 4 year warranty from Amazon when I purchased it. I think today's cleaning solved my problems. *_I love my WP-900! Thanks again Waterpik!_*

My previous waterpik broke after just 1 year 😢. I thought it’s only a bad product or I was unlucky. But now I know why! Mold formed inside of the power button even though it was sealed. I was so confused 😕 as to how that was possible? But now I understand how. Mold forms in dark places, especially after it’s been wet. So what I have to do is deep cleaning. Not just the type of cleaning I once did. NO! Cleaning throughly while taking everything apart that can be taken out. So yeah! That was my mistake and I ain’t gonna let it happen again 😕😭🤦🏼‍♀️. Because idk about you, but I LOVE my waterpik. I do indeed. Flossing has never been easier until I got waterpik. So yeah 😎

Hello there, the handle does have a hollow cavity, but it is not a defect. If you make sure to flush any residual additives (if used)) from the unit after each use and if you clean the unit regularly, including soaking the handle as instructed in this video, it will prevent any kind of build up from forming. The waterpik I bought back in November last year broke yesterday as in the motor does nothing. I went ahead and ordered the radiance which I had only avoided originally because $120 for something that might not be what I think it is, eh $40 at target was preferable at the time basically. I still haven’t tried running vinegre through my current unit so I’ll see if that does anything but if it’s outright broken whatever the radiance is a million times better. My model has an on off switch on the actual unit and also the handheld part. People make mistakes and to now have a unit with just one and on the handheld part plus the magnetic stuff cool name and pristine new unit, yeah.
