So I used to use rem oil until last winter. we had a week of weather in the single digits and my gun would lock up. I called Winchester and they asked me if I used remoil and i said yes they said never use it it will freeze your gun up. Instead, they advised me to use CLP I switched and haven’t had a single issue with my gun. I Enjoy watching your videos thanks for sharing. -Isaac

Just cleaned mine for the first time the other day after 180 rounds of break in. Pretty simple gun, I've heard they like to be a little more on the dry side so I like to use the rem oil sparingly. You were definitely a factor in me buying this gun!

If you have cycling issues in cold weather I can almost bet it’s the rem oil. It seems to me that when it gets cold it makes moving parts not want to move. Had the stuff lock up a super nova and an a300. And I just used a few drops not spraying it all over everything. You may not have any issues it’s just something to think about if you do.

Needless to say I don’t use the stuff anymore. One morning in particular it was 2 degrees here in Arkansas and you could see the congealed oil on the bolt. My gun was a one shot wonder that day. My M2 likes howe’s lubricator products, it’s a dry lubricant and iv never had issues with it.

It's also a good idea to clean the 2 gas ports on the bottom of the barrel.

I have a maxus and a quick tip about the trigger assembly. If you take the piston off and then the plastic tube you can use the little part that goes into the receiver to punch the trigger pins out. Don’t slam it or anything but it’s the perfect size if you are in the field and need to fix your trigger. That is if it’s the same as the maxus

Hello my friend,I happen to notice that you didn't remove the choke tube to clean,also I would use a bronze brush for the really dirty places,gas operated shotguns need the two little holes inside the barrell to be clean so as to opperate well,and as an advice,don't oil the gun so much because it will stuck if there is dust.I prefer inertia operated shotguns.

Not a huge deal but paper towels are abrasive & leave lint behind, might want to use a 100% cotton cloth or old tshirt. Thanks for the video!👍

Damn brother you just turned you rifle in a dust/dirt magnet. Also I highly advise that you switch from rem oil to Balistol, remoil has been known to cause all kinds of problem. Besides that cool video

The one thing you want to clean on an auto is the gas system, and rubbing the outside of the piston is not cleaning the gas system. Spraying oil into things like the trigger group is just giving crap something to grab onto. I do like your channel, I don't agree with this cleaning video. I just do it a different way. I clean the gas ports, the part of the mag tube the gas piston burns with gas, and the pusher assemble ports, and the carrier group.

All four versions of this gun have had problems with the bolt handle falling out when the gun is shot. You would think that after almost 50 years, this problem would have been corrected. But apparently, it hasn't.

Dude easy with the Rem oil man. Get your self some powder blast and some gun oil for some of the few moving parts. Rem oil if fine to wipe things down with but do not spray in the gun... SX Series guns have trouble in the cold as is, that wont help things.

To prevent water being trapped in butt stock just drill a small hole in he lowest underside point of the butt stock. Any water that gets in will be able to drain out naturally.

Missed the choke on the end of the barrel. If its not maintained with oil it will cease and you wont be able to adjust the choke anymore.

Nice and easy when you know how. What I will Say is make sure you put trigger assembly back on before you try and cock the bolt haha did this couple times like a dummy

You shouldn’t clean the barrel from the chamber to the bore back to the chamber like you were doing.. you are cleaning it the re-distributing the gunk and dirt. You should be pushing from the chamber to the end of your bore or pulling it from the chamber to the bore by sticking the cleaning rod through the barrel then attaching the “cotton wad” to your cleaning rod and pulling it through the to the bore. And repeat. That way your pulling the dirt up and out of the barrel instead of back and forth re-distributing it ! 💯🤙👌

Gotta ask I just bought a sx4 and cleaning it up from the store look down the barrel and realize there seems to be 2 gouges in the bottom of the barrel where the barrel lug is attached is that normal of did I get a factory reject 😂

No not all. Those are the holes that the gas goes through to drive the position so your gun can cycle. It's just fine the way it is.

Rem oil is the worse oil we can use on our guns, Especially autos and in extreme cold temps. It’s waxy and causes moving parts to stick. Do yourself a favour and get yourself either G-96 or break free CLP. I’ve been using G-96 for years and I’d drive 100 miles if I ever ran out. Keep a small spray can in your gun bag to give it a shot if your gun hangs up in the field. I used to use that Remington junk oil but not in the past 30 yrs.

When showing how to assemble, try getting a better angle so people can ACTUALLY SEE when you're reassembling the shotgun. I've searched high n low on YT for videos on how to assemble an sx4 n I finally find one n cant see how to assemble it cause the fuckin gun is off camera. Thanks man... 🙄

rem oil has NEVER been a good product never ever ever use it inside of any gun the ONLY thing its good for is a surface rust treatment its a absolutely horrible "oil" to use inside a gun transmission fluid and Mobil 1 mixed 50/50 is about the best oil on the planet and for under $10 will last you a lifetime

This is why none of my shotguns or rifles are semi-auto. I don't clean anything other than the barrels and whatever else I can reach without taken shit apart. And for 15 years I havent had a single issue. I am lazy!
