Thank you for your clear and precise instructions. At 88 years old I learnt how to remove, clean and put back together my Dyson V10 animal. Last weekend after watching your video, I removed my very old Dyson DC8, cleaned washed all the parts except the paper gasket in the Radix and put them together. The suction is like nine years ago when I bought it. Having been a DIY addict all my life it was easy to listen to your instructions and absorb them. If you are not a DIY enthusiast it is advisable to watch and listen but let an expert look after your expensive equipment.
2:59 very fine presentation. Clear , concise and efficient. Had no idea about cleaning it before seeing this video. Now, thanks to the presenter, I’m eager to clean my vacuum as thoroughly as he demonstrated. Thank You very much.
SO THANKFUL I came across this video!!! I had no idea my dyson could or should be cleaned like this...I'm embarrassed to say I've had my dyson for 2 years YIKES and has never been cleaned like this...So I cleaned mine along with you and I Thank You so much for your video.
When you put the screws back in, to make sure they go back into the spiral cut they made when they were put in originally, and do not cut a new spiral, gently push the screw home, then rotate it anticlockwise (backwards) until you feel, or hear a slight click. Now screw clockwise and the screw should go in very easily as it has found the original groove. This works anywhere that self tapping style screws have been put in plastic holes, and helps ensure that multiple uses do not tear out the hole and in effect, strip the thread out. I was taught this by a NASA engineer, Gordon Plews while discussing disassembling Roomba robot vacuums.
You have no idea how much this video helped me when I got my Dyson. Now I deep clean my Dyson V10 about every 6 months. I actually go as far as taking the rubber gaskets off to get all the nasty dirt out and use an air compressor to blow all the dust out of the main part. Thank you so much! If anyone is worried about putting it back together, just take a couple of photo's so you remember where everything goes. :)
Out of all of the Dyson maintenance videos I found on YT, yours was the only one I found that explained how to clean out the inside of the machine! That's what ultimately solved my pulsation issue! Well done and thank you!
Thank you so much for taking the time to create and share this video! I personally feel that while Dyson makes some great products, they don't take enough time to provide customer support for how to maintain these beautiful appliances.
I thought I had broken the bin! This video has saved me going to the supplier. MANY THANKS. It is the best video tutorial I have come across: clear and easy to follow.
Thank you for the detaild video. I dump the bin in my V11 outside to keep dust out of the house. When I wash the filter, I dry it in front of a small fan and its completely dry in 12 hours. I've discovered a really simple way to thuroughly clean the inside of the vaccum without disassembling it, using an electric leaf blower. Again outside, remove the dust bin and rear filter. Blow off the fitter (you still should wash the filter occasionally) and blow out the dust bin and the red gasket area that seals to the vacuum body. Next blow out the vacuum body. Point the blower directly at the perforated metal on the vacuum body and blow out the dust and alternate with blowing air directly into the end of the body (where the tube and brushes attach) and then direct the blower air into the back of the vacuum where the filter attaches, to blow through the vacuum. Do this several times. It creates an enormous dust cloud, so make sure no nearby windows are open. I also blow out the vacuum metal tube and floor soft roller and rug brush and scrape out any dirt that does not blow off. Its probably a good idea to wash off the roller and floor brush after blowwing off. Compressed air with an air nozzel should work well for this too. Just don't set the pressure crazy high.
Thank you for your great video. I’m an older woman and I was able to follow your instructions and clean my vac and put it back together. Thank you soooo much
What a wonderfully comprehensive tutorial on cleaning out the Dyson stick. I had a pulsating vacuum and didn't know what to do. I went through all the steps here, and the Dyson stick works wonderfully well again ! And it looks like a brand new unit too !
Excellent video. Mine keeps flashing for a blockage but did not realise that I could unscrew it to clean better. My machine was full of a fine dust and powder. My machine is 2 years old and I have cleaned the filter regularly. Thank you.
I just did that on my son's V10, and I used compressed air. Amazing how much other fine dust came out with the compressed air. I recommend doing the cleaning outside so you do not have the inside mess to clean up.
Thanks so much for such clear instructions. Mine is just about a yr old and has lost its appetite for dirt. A good cleaning and now it’s a dirt hungry animal again!
That was brilliantly done really pleased that someone else thinks that the Dyson needs more cleaning than they state on their website, I take mine to pieces but did not dare tell them as it is frowned upon for some reason but if not they can begin to smell especially when you have dogs, so thank you for showing everyone this
One of the family has vacuumed something very bad that was wet and now it stinks whenever its running, so this video was so useful and showing the battery replacement also very useful Thanks so much.
An excellent demo as it shows how to replace everything after cleaning it. Every time my vacuum pulses I take my V10 apart and there is usually a pile of fluff coming out of the hole on the cylinder barrel. I was surprised there was none in your vacuum.

You saved my life! Pet waste bags roll's plastic tube was stuck inside the vacuum. I was able to remove it, now the vacuum is working just fine without any interruption. Thank you very much!!!! - from U.S.A.
@@ashleymiranda17 I keep the medium power when I vacuum, and it lasts to clean my 2-bed room house (about an hour). When I kept it the highest power, it only lasted about a half hour. But the medium power does the job just fine.
@@sukii.2683 You should check out www.vacdaddywand.com to make your life really easy when it comes to keeping a clean vacuum, by cutting the clean time to under 10 seconds!
When opening the "main compartment", a plastic bag can be handy to help minimize the "dust cloud"... if you've got a vacuum with a *bag* , or a whole-house vacuum (we just moved to a place with one; love it) , you can use one vacuum to clean the canister, and that will get most of it... you can just slide the cylinder down, without "popping it open" , and put your *other vacuum's* nozzle in the hole... suck out most of it, *then* pop it open to complete. A shop-vac could also be used. I realize *eventually* , you're going to have to empty something nasty (whole house vac, shop vac, etc.) , but this approach helps minimize those "episodes". Thanks for the video! Nice shirt.
Thanks so very much for sharing via RU-vid. I clean my Dyson v10 animal after each use. I dump the debris into a grocery bag inside my trash can. I also tie it up so the dust won’t go into the air. I never disassembled it like it was done in this video. I also was not aware of replacing the battery. It is one f the best cleaning tools I ever purchased. I mainly purchased to vacuum my vehicles to Abe money at car washes. I also thought of aging changes and how it come with various attachments. Using it as a handheld or with the long handle makes it perfect for many needs and purposes. I am 66 years, three months and 14 days as of my comments. I had mine for over four years. Best investment in vacuums. Thanks for reading my comments. Smiles
Hello, I am so glad I watched your video. I replaced an older model the other day and upgrade to the Dyson V10. I now see what went wrong with my previous model and may not had needed to upgrade [under warranty-Geek Squad], after watching the video. Yours is a must watch video for ALL Dyson vacuum cleaning owners. I have now saved this video and will share it with others, like my sisters who want to buy one, one day soon. You were GREAT! and I will return to this video to make sure I keep my Dyson V10 at it maximum working compacity in a month. :-)
This has to be the best instructional video on vacuum maintenance that I have ever seen. Thank you so much! I've been waiting to have my kitchen floor fixed and in the meantime the white gypsum type stuff that is under the linoleum gets everywhere. Sweeping just throws it all up in the air so I've been using my cordless with good results. But when I try to use it I get the flashing hose icon indicating a blockage. I've washed the filter, which in the past has been effective. I've removed the canister and washed that and I've looked inside and there is absolutely no blockage. So I can only think that the fine powder stuff is clogging up the inside of the vacuum. I just need some Torex Bits to finish my maintenance.
Great and very explanatory video. However I am so tired of deep cleaning my vacuums that next time I will opt for the old-fashioned devices with the disposable bags.
Very nice, detailed video - thanks very much. I like to clean mine after each use. The only drawback - and this is 2022 and I've just got the Cyclone V10, is that I liked the older version (I forget the model number) better as far as cleaning it. That model you are able to take apart and rinse out all the parts without unscrewing anything. The model had the larger filter. The filter and battery lasted me over 5 years of appx 2x weekly use. I left it in my previous home for the new homeowners as it was nicely installed in the laundry room.
Excellent video clear instructions if you find it difficult to strip down the main body if you have a local tire car tyre repair shop you could ask them to use their air pressure to blow it through that will get rid of the majority of the dust you’ll find most people are helpful.
Thanks for up loading a clear tutorial. I found mine had a massive build up of fibres in the square cyclone aperture found on the right hand side in the metal mesh. Getting on for 2.5m views well done.
Amazing instructional video. Thanks so much. My v10 looks like new again, thanks to you. In cleaning the brush assembly, I did a great amount of digging with qtips around the base of the rotational element (where it attaches to the side of the plastic case) and I got a large amount of built-up dirt out of there.
Hello! I know this is an old video but I searched it when my Dyson started cutting out. Turned out the filter needed a clean. You saved me money - thank you. Cheeky little rinse did the trick! :)
I love this! Made my machine to perform much better after I had used it to vacuum the spilled cocoa powder. So fine, it was everywhere in the machine. Every time I used it afterwards it smelled Cocoa powder and lost suction power.. Thank you so much, now everything working much better.
You’re explanation is so clear that It gave me the confidence to clean my v10 on my own. However, I think I would not venture into unscrewing as this is way beyond my capabilities. But thanks so much!
Thank you so much, excellent video , I was having trouble cleaning it, but after watching this video I have a better understanding how to take care of my new Dyson v10
Thank you so much! My filter light came on and I had no idea how to clean everything internally, you have possibly saved me a repair bill! Truly thank you!!!
Great vid, thanks. Just one point: just before putting the 4 screws in place, I found that the wires had got caught in a seal - I could tell this because the top bit didn't fit securely, it rocked a bit. After a few attempts I managed to bend the wires so they stayed where they should as I refitted the grey thing - no more rocking so it was ready to be screwed back together.
That was so easy to understand…many thanks for your detailed instructions….much appreciated. Was in dire straits as lost my instruction book and had forgotten how to clean it properly so thanks again. Well done🙏🏿🙏🏿👍
Great video; very clear and easy to follow. Didn't know you could pull the battery. That is a good thing given the decay that occurs in batteries over time. Too bad Dyson doesn't make that a snap off design and so you could have a second battery charging.
Thanks so much for your amazing, supportive and absolutely so amazing video… I have a vac that is has been block in ages and it’s such a relief to have it working again
So far so good with this vacuum. ru-vid.comUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was a little concerned to find it seems to be all plastic, but the reviews were good, so I'm hoping for the best. Very easy to assemble Recommened, and only attachments I've used so far work well, and are easy to use. Doing a good job on the new carpet in my bedrooms and stairs. Works well on the hardwood on my main floor too. Reasonable weight and cord length. I already knew from an earlier review that it wouldn't fit under furniture, but I can use my Eufy for that, so no problem - the high traffic areas that need a stronger suction was really what I bought this for. If it continues as it's started, it will be a good buy and well worth the money. I have had two Shark Rocket stick vacs in the past that are super easy to use, but the motors just don't last well, even with scrupulous cleaning of the filters. I'm hoping for better with this Bissell.
Great video, very clear instructions. I panicked a bit when I put the barrel back and it stuck........the red ring was folded. I don't think I'd go as far as you did but my vacuum is much cleaner. Thanks.
Excellent presentation but surprised how much cleaning is required which may challenge the average person. I'm a retired tradesman and question the integrity of the sales pitch over the unsaid cleaning requirements. Thank you for your video.
Thank you so much for your extremely helpful video. Saved me having to get someone to service the machine and it's working again fantastic. Appreciate you taking the time to share the video and how to do it. Darren ( from Australia )
Thank you for the video it was very helpful. I have found that the slide to empty is a bit stiff so it was good to know that is normal. I will keep this link handy so that I can refer to it when necessary. I am pleased with the vacuum cleaner so far.
Thanks for the video. I successfully managed to clean my vacuum. In total, it took close to an hour as there was so much dirt and dust accumulated around the filters.
Thorough but concise; First class! I think the screw size is T8 ( not T7) but that could vary. I agree with Fin Jeory and Siggy. Even when my V10 was spotless, it still wanted a brand new filter rather than a washed filter. IMO, the V10 can only handle day to day use and the filter blocks quickly if trying to clear up after any DIY or decorating.
I would also recommend getting an extra filter. It helps a lot to have a dry filter as the other one needs 24 hours to dry. Great video. Thorough and easy to follow. Though i did not see you clean the little cavity on the main vaccume when you removed the bin. My dyson is pulsing. But from what i can see from your video , ive done all that was needed to clean it, so its probably a battery issue
Thank you so much the clear and concise instructions on how to disassemble and reassemble the Dyson 10!! So very helpful and the closeup helps a great deal.
Thank you so much for your extremely helpful videos. I’ve watched a few of them to help me get to know my new Dyson and yours are the ones I have been watching the most. They’re very helpful. Thanks.
Excellent video very clearly explained how to give a thorough cleaning to a very good Dyson V10 model. The dust does build up if you neglect it for a long time.👍👍
@@ioanaman1390 - Shortly after I wrote, thanking the guy for posting his video, my Dyson completely DIED. I was NOT able to talk to ANYONE at Dyson (the outgoing message, when I called, blamed Covid). Then I went to Dyson’s website + I was “walked through” some diagnostic tests. I discovered my 2 month old Dyson had a dead battery. When I applied for a new battery, on line, I received a NASTY email saying that the battery died because I did not clean the filter . . . (I DID clean the filter . . .) I was SO ANGRY, with Dyson blaming ME for the battery dying, I packed up my Dyson + sent it back . . . Bought an Aposen on Amazon - way cheaper than the OVER RATED Dyson’s. I am DONE with Dyson, forever!!!
Great vid very concise instructions, I already new how to do all this apart from taking out the four screws, so nice to learn something new, next time I clean it I will follow that line, already got the screwdriver, thanks for the size. The first Dyson I bought was the DC 4 and I kept that for six years before I up graded. When I got the DC 18 slim my wife started to strip down the canister and cyclone and washed them and hung them out to dry on the washing line. 😁😁 I still have the DC 18 slim a great machine still going strong to this day.
I liked the NASA-advice also from the guy in the previous comments about how not to strip threads over time on screws which self-tap into plastic! Excellent! I could imagine myself doing this on all sorts of gadgets and I’ll be aware of the trick and perhaps even teach my husband something new!
