How to clean Caligo Safe-Wash relief ink from Lino blocks

I use Calico Safe-Wash Relief Ink in most of my printmaking. It's easy to use and looks great. Being able to wash it off with soap and water makes it easy and safer to use at home when compared to inks that need solvents to clean up.

I've been using relief ink on a linoleum pad...I have rinsed it with water before but noticed the material starting to swell so I put it under a cinder block after I washed/rinsed and that seemed to help prevent the layers from separating......do you have any insight to this concern? Thanx!

Is the Lino mounted on wood? That can swell when wet. I stopped using anything mounted on wood for that reason. Instead of rinsing with water, you can wipe with baby wipes. I find that takes a while, but might be your best option.

I was searching for advice on cleaning this paint because I read that it's not supposed to go down the drain 😬

Thanks for posting! I reached out to the company to clarify. The information on not putting the ink down the drain only applies to the ink alone. When cleaning with soap, it's perfectly safe and acceptable to allow that to go down the drain. Make sure to remove any large amounts of leftover ink before you apply the soap, of course!
