This is my 'go to' video on cleaning grout in the bathroom. Not only is the method effective, I appreciate the honest and 'no frills' presentation. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
Toni, when you do your bathroom I’ll find this stuff we were recommended when we did ours. You paint in onto the grout with a tiny brush. I think it’s German and it’s amazing. It kind of seals & covers the grout and stops it from absorbing any dirt. Complete ball ache to apply but it keeps the grouting brand new forever. It really is amazing xx
Oh love you definitely need to send me the details of that 👌🏻❤️ it sounds amazing love and I will do it no matter how long it takes lol if I never have to bleach the grout again 😂 I’m getting it re grouted our handy man is coming over to take a look and see what’s what then hopefully it will all get fixed xxx
Added bonus if you have an Oral B or other electric toothbrush! I used an old toothbrush head with my Oral B, and it makes it even easier! TBH I don't like bleach but I used Vim bleach creme cleanser (or Cif, or Jif depending on your country) with the electric toothbrush, and it came up like brand new with just a tiny amount of cleaner for each line of grout, and NO backbreaking scrubbing.
Thank you for the great tip on cleaning tiles. All you need is to have (or do it yourself) is to re-grout. I've done it, it's easy and you won't need to keep doing it deep clean. Take care lovely lady ❤️
So yes I will definatley give this a go in our( rented) bathroom on the grout. The grout just needs a good clean . I am actually stripping my mums wallpaper off this week where I can strip the wallpaper off. The rest the Decorator will do. I am very exicted to see the finished process of the single room being completed. Its my first ever project done alone by me.
Don't worry about your tiles being outdated.... I have the same tiles as you, they are fab and never date... being plain white anything goes with them!!!!.. Like you I regularly clean the grout and have even painted the grout with a fine art brush...like any other tiles on the market they all have to be cleaned ...all part of the cleaning process in a bathroom. Would like to add .... that the tiles we have would probably cost a fortune these days (not particularly cheap when originally purchased) and to be honest I have not seen any like them over the years!!!!... hang on to them as they always look classy and are so very white .... best wishes Jill... ps not a hard task to regrout you can buy in DIY stores ok. ...
Thank you so much lovely 😊 I’m so tired of cleaning the tiles 😂 I spend my life polishing them all I’ve worn the grout away 🙈 have a fab evening love ❤️ xxx
Hi it's nice to know I'm not the only one that's got this problem well had!! I used bathroom sealant on the tile lines/grout lines and not had a problem since.
hi, need advice,😆 i was cleaning an area-white tiles/grocery floor, suddenly i notice that it was look sticky after mopping. i tried to clean/brush the traditional mop yet there is no different.its still sticky and attract dirt..can you help me DIY.
Thanks Toni, try this on the worn parts after cleaning it's great to bring back brilliant white and also delays black coming back - Grout UniBond Ice white Grout pen, 15ml
I love bleach! Although it does have a strong smell!! I try my best not to over use it, as before, i’d love to disinfect my hands with it! (Part of my ocd) when i’m at friends or families houses & I can smell bleach, it gives me this “safe feeling” strange, I know! (Thats the OCD in my head!)Bleach just feels super clean to me though & the best at whitening anything! As you’ve kindly demonstrated toni!!!!
Do you wipe the tile down after it gets wet? That maybe the reason its turning dark so fast. I have tile too, so I understand your frustration. Keeping them dry between showers really helps if you have the time.
Use Marine 31, for once a product that actually does what it says. We had a severe black grout area under the seat in our shower. I tried bleach, commercially available grout cleaning products, etc. They faded it some but it came right back. This stuff was truly amazing. We just watched as it faded the black to clean without any scrubbing! It's been several weeks and it's still clean. It's not cheap but lasts a long time and it definitely does the job!
Recently moved into an old house, and most of the grout in the shower & kitchen looks brown/black & icky. Going to give this a try, cuz conventional cleaning aids aren't doing much
I have the same problem as you Toni. In desperation last week I put bleach in a spray bottle and sprayed all the grout lines It made it much easier although it did smell quite strong! Love your videos.. You seem a lovely, kind person ! X
You should regrout the tiles, it is not hard to do and then seal them with grout sealant, which will stop the mold. If the grout is missing water can seep in and create mold behind the tiles. So it is important to regrout the tiles, then seal the grout to stop the mold from growing on the seams.
Same here love we are going to get it re grouted it’s a quick fix that won’t cost the earth so I’m definitely doing this until I’m ready to get a new bathroom xxx
Another great tip Toni 🤗. I use a squidgy over the tiles after each shower and that really does cut down on the amount of times having to scrub the grout. Try a grout pen on the worst areas to save you regrouting the whole wall 💕 xx
I’m worried about damp now lol so many have said if the grout has gone (only a bit) it could get damp behind it so I’m having our handy man over to fix it 😂👌🏻😍 I can’t wait lol xxx
You could mix a small amount of grout and redo, it’s not hard to do, just point grout in with your fingers leave to dry and wipe excess off with a cloth. Grout you could get from b&q. Worth a try......lovely clean home.
Damp is such a horrible thing and I’ve had it in nearly every house I’ve lived in. I’ve tried tons of sprays for mould but the best spray by far is the mould and mildew cleaner from Lakeland and it’s only about £4.00. You would need the bathroom window opened right out as it’s a very strong smell but highly effective, and the best bit is you don’t have to scrub anything, it does all the work 😁 xxx
I just subscribed. I came across your channel a few days ago. You inspire me to clean my house regular. You can buy a tub of ready grout and spread it like butter on bread as a quick fix
My brother has this two, it’s like glittery panels isn’t it and it looks beautiful and you just wipe it down 👌🏻❤️🥰 definitely something I will consider love thank you xx
Hi Toni hun, Look forward to watching all your vids ! Do u have any design ideas, colour schemes etc for your updated new bathroom ? Thanks Toni ! Love from one scouser to another !
Just wondered ...🤔 if you have no grout left ,the water is getting threw to the wall making it damp for the mould to spread and come out between the tiles ,your wall behind is most likely to be rotting ☹️ my plan of action , don’t use the shower until ,get a proper mould cleaner and regrout .i think that will solve your problem area. (Oh gosh living with a builder has finally sent me off my trolley 😂🤣😂
It’s still got grout there it’s not completely gone but we have our handy man coming to fix it 😂👌🏻 it’s going to be so much better I’m just worried I’ll have bright white grout and the grout will look old everywhere else lol xxx
Toni Interior so glad your going get help with it ,originally water made its way to the bk wall hence the mould .take your bath panel off see if there’s anything there .your bathroom still looks so good ,it’s looks amazingly bright clean and fresh. Your a great homemaker ❤️
My favourite technique for really bad areas is to soak tissue in bleach (the stronger stuff for really bad areas) and then stick it to the grout and leave it. For as long as you can bare. Looks a bit mental but it means less elbow grease overall!
Oh and DO make sure you always ventilate your rooms well if you use a lot of bleach! That bit you said about not giving off bad fumes is a bit wrong - although Im sure the amount you are using is fine, just a precaution
I did mine yesterday but i just used bleach and a tooth brush i let the bleach soak in for 5 to 10 mins and then washed it of ive never seen them so sparkling ah x
bleach is super dangerous to my knowledge.. I wonder how you deal with it without gloves thought. But thanks so much for this tip.. I'll give it a try.
I’m not sure if Toni will see this. There is a brilliant product on the market it’s Detol mould and mildew remover. It works very time. Just follow the instructions.
I have black marks where the sjower tiles are. only been in 9 months and nothing has shifted it and i was like what the hell s wrong!?!?!? I've scrubbed the tiles twice a week since putting them in... Turns out ive scrubbed a layer of grout off lol. It was only after you said you scrubbed a layer of grout off that i checked and thats why... I've over cleaned them 😂🙄🤦🏼♀️🙈
Good Morning Toni, Have you tried the Dettol Mould & Mildew remover? Its in a green spray bottle (it used to be anyway), honestly spray it on before bed and next day .... gone!!!! Its brill stuff 😀👍 Jan xxxx
I tried it love but it didn’t really help 😩 and dettol products are always my favourites too 😩 but it’s getting fixed ASAP I’m worried now that I’ll end up with damp lol xxx
Instead of adding bicarbonate of soda, use simple good quality bleach ( domestos). Spread the bleach in the affected grout tiles using a toothbrush but do not scrub. Leave the bleach on the surfaces overnight. In the morning wash the surface off and you should have clean grout and tiles.
Great video, The exposed brown of the tile is called the biscuit. I'm in the same position. I'm going to have to pull out all the grout and re-grout. It's to the point that I've almost given up cleaning it.
I’m the same I feel like I’ve cleaned it all away 😂 needs doing but I just can’t get it done at the moment due to other things being more urgent (downstairs flooring) but I just can’t wait to see the back of those tiles xx
Heya Hun I feel your pain I was in the same boat last year I spent endless hours getting the stuff off the tiles and it's only in a certain part of the corner of the bath / shower , it's from false tan too my self and my daughter are the culprits of that lol ...... in the end I just got it regrouted and I didn't have to change the tiles nd I wasn't in a position either to get a new bathroom, it only took him about 4 or 5 hours but worth it Hun veronica 🇮🇪💜💕💕xxxxx
Morning lovely ❤️🇮🇪 sending you lots of virtual love to my favourite part of the world 🇮🇪 we’re getting it re grouted love I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner 🙈 and hopefully Selina will get me the details of the stuff she used to stop the grout darkening, you just brush it on and it stops all of it 👌🏻 have a fabulous weekend Veronica 🧡 xxx
