How to clean old radiator tail and fit new valve!

Cleaning an old radiator tail after old valve was removed. This gives the best chance for the picture 577 to bind to the metal threads.
New valve tail made in with knipex pump pliers wrench and pipework was cut due to the old olive seal damaging the pipe.
Pipework cut for a new soldered connection then some paste around new seal allows the olive to crimp better for a perfect water tite seal!

My boss would be pissed that he doped the compression fitting. Real plumbers don't do that... Unless it leaks and you can't get it to seal. I've done it once in 4 years. And if I could have cut it off and installed new without getting into the wall. I'd have done it right then too.

the inlet of the radiator is installed in the upper corner and the outlet in the lower corner, so that the heat transfer to the indoor air is as efficient as possible. the rising air warms more efficiently as it rises against the heat. when the warmest water goes to the top of the radiator, the air gets warmer as it rises... Or at least that's how we install radiators here in Finland, Sweden and Norway....

A lot of radiators here in the UK are designed for bottom inlet and outlet. It's threw me off for a while because I couldn't figure out why, when the heating kicks in, the rads still heat from top to bottom. I then found out they're internally baffled so they basically act like a top in/bottom out rad.

I see in many videos people use this paste on the compression rings. Why? It is designed to work with compression. I d understand if it would be some old used part, but the new one never leaks if tight properly. I never had issues no matter the size

Just from personal experience I always ream the lip created when using tubing cutters. In commercial new construction company I worked for had warranty work for pin holes in the copper. I repaired 10. All were at fittings where the pipe wasn’t reamed. Looked into in and heard the flow of water catches on the lip and start to eat through the copper and creating a point where it can continue through once it starts
