Instructions:
Thoroughly rinse the mats.
Spray your favourite degreaser or all purpose cleaner on the mats.
Agitate the cleaner with a brush.
Rinse the mats thoroughly. Repeat steps 1 to 4 if still dirty.
Dry your mats using a microfiber towel, or a car dryer.
Optional step: Apply a non-greasy dressing to enhance the appearance of the mats. Make sure you use a dressing that doesn’t leave a slippery texture to ensure your safety.

Great video Pan..! $100 waxes..$200 Ceramic coatings..$500 Rupes Polishers.. all fun to see and learn about, however out of reach for a large number of people. Refreshing to see the regular, low cost, easy car care tips.. Admittedly, I go crazy buying all that stuff but I still enjoy the "Budget Friendly" videos as well. You have the forum to let the weekend warriors know they don't need to invest thousands. They can get great results renting a steam/carpet cleaner and tackle that interior using off the shelf cleaners and a $20 rental. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. They are very helpful and reassuring that you, the car owner can detail your car without spending an arm and a leg. Maybe it’s me but that car mat being through a tough Canadian winter seemed to clean up rather easily and the soap did not appear to be dirty at all.

Mats aren’t as big as a vehicle lol. And if you put a dressing on them it makes cleaning easy. Just be careful to not apply anything too slippery. Take mats out of car. Lay on concrete surface. Spray dry mats with AWSOME $ 1.00 from the Dollar tree store. Then use the Dollar Tree store scrubbing bubble bathroom cleaner. Let stand for 5 minutes. Hose off with a heavy spray of water. Let dry. Spray with Coverall tire dressing. Wipe till dry. Put mats back in car. Making sure the back of the mat is dry before installing back in car. That's the easiest way. Last for a long time. The Coverall puts a barrier down on the mats. Shawn

@Steven Lupo -LA's totally awesome- it's a degreaser/all purpose cleaner that will clean literally ANYTHING to like new condition I LOVE IT so much!! Funny name but once you use it you will never stop buying it. Manufacturer claims it's non toxic as well buy idk about that since it cleans so well and it's quite strong and will gag you if you spray a lot. Good luck!

I clean my rubber floor mats very similar to your process. I use the tuff shine brush and adams tire and rubber cleaner. Thats it. Works awesome and the floor mats look always fresh and as new. I can probably apply perl diluted to provide some added protection. Thanks as always.

Wow, after just rinsing the mat it looked great. The winters in Canada must be a lot easier than Chicago's. My mats don't look that good even after scrubbing with a brush. And I have the same type of mat and same color. Mmmm....

You're comparing apples to oranges here. Perhaps you beat the living shit out of your mats. Obviously you're not going to wash off deep scuffs and scratches. He's showing you a technique to clean dirty, salty floor mats, nothing more.

Pan, I will tell you 100% that this is my first comment on any RU-vid channel, video, etc. I have been watching your videos nonstop for the past two months since purchasing my mk7.5 GTI. I realized we are about the same age and have very similar tastes in cars, etc after watching your life story video. I also love detailing cars and have had the bug not as long as you but since about 2002. I watch your videos mainly to get insight on products so naturally RU-vid will have your other related videos ready to click after. I decided to comment and write this dissertation because you probably saved me about a half hour of time in my detail regimen due to this video. I almost always wash my floor mats very car wash/detail but I use my soap water after the vehicle wash or I used to do them with wash water before the wheels. Anyways it takes a lot of time to soak, scrub with lots of suds from the wash water, rinse off every bit of soap that gets all over the back of the mats also, then wait to air dry and put back in the car. Never thought in all my detailing years to just use an APC like Meguiars which I have and do like you just did and not have all that soap to rinse off on the back side where it stays clean anyway. Duh!!! You rock dude!!!! Thanks. Like I said I never comment but do read through others comments. So hopefully you can give a shout back!! And if ever in the Northern Virginia area give a shout. Looks great Pan...I find the trim shine product leaves the mats dangerously slippery even after wiping the product down with a microfibre towel. I used to do my mats the exact same way but was getting to many complaints from our clients on the slipperiness of the mats so ended up skipping the trim shine. They lack the deep black shine but end result is they are much safer.

I've used 303 protectant in the past and had a similar experience. I tried spraying a little on a damp microfiber rag (rather than the mat itself) and rubbing it into the mat just enough to take that dry look away. Seemed to be much more tolerable and not nearly as slippery.

I do the same using the trim shine product but diluted 4-1. It's not as slippery and makes the mat look much fresher. 👍@@ldtriton

Same issue. If you get the sprayable (not aerosol) Trim Shine and heavily dilute it, or I've done the same with Chemical Guys VRP (also "water based") it works better to just give it a little coating but not slippery, but it's barely noticable in terms of appearance so I just skip dressing them. I'm using 3D floor liners now with a textured finish, and they look better than Weathertech/Husky without any dressing on them, just keep them clean.

I doubt that it would work as well if executed executed elsewhere than a "Canadian Winter", even if several Mounties performed the elaborate procedure (chemicals included). Winters are vastly different in the USA, as you know? lol. Your intense step one effort was all I needed to get the job back to original condition. My wife would be reviving me with a call to 911 if I advanced on to Step two. Hark, my hockey puck is call me! (Just messing with you, Pan!) Pan, always have a great time watching and learning from you. I have a set of the same Weather Tech floor liners in my 2017 Lincoln MKC, and use Purple Power 4 to 1 with water. But I used Mother's VLR, which made the surface slippery, :(, so now I know better and will be picking up some Trim Shine from Stoner. Thanks so much!

Pan TheOrganizer I have a 60 gallon so definitely not compact. I think the smallest you would want to go would be a 30 gallon. The tornador uses a lot of air and would make the 30 run a lot while using it. It is a great tool to have though.

That depends who you ask John. To me, those were filthy as I normally detail my car twice a week. I had to not clean my mats for a full month just for them to be dirty for the video. And that’s beyond the point anyways. The goal here is to show how to clean mats regardless of how dirty they are. They don’t need to look like they came from a mud jamboree to validate the cleaning technique...

A tip from a dad with messy kids and floor mats with a years worth of caked on junk. Just drive to nearby self-service car wash with clamps on wall for floor mats and have at them with the power wash. Easy peasy

When they are a bit older they often come up looking white after they have been washed and dried. I use Aeropsace 303 to restore the dark colour. Seems to work well!

Soak with Purple Power, blast with pressure washer, let dry in Sun while moving on to interior, spray with wd40 and wipe it in with shop towel and done. I could do 10 Weathertechs in the time you did one.

@@danielgriffin7090 Weathertech mats are fairly slippery out of the box. If you work in the wd40 with a shop rag it will absorb it and after a few applications will actually make it less slippery. Don't just spray it and leave it. Rub it, or massage it, into mats.

I soak my car's rubber mats in vinegar and baking soda solution for 5 mins then brush it. Wash it off with warm water and let air dry. After they are dried up, they look almost new.

I use a pressure washer with soap, scrub brush, then hang them vertically and spray them with tire dressing. Works perfectly every time.

How about a spray bottle that works with an iron remover? I know some spray bottles have metal parts that cause all the solution to turn purple. I haven’t been able to find a spray bottle I can use to fill my gyeon iron remover with

Any good spray bottle will do. Gyeon Iron and CarPro IronX come in pretty standard bottles with normal trigger sprayers... Nothing special and they always work. For iron removers, I just use the bottles the products come with.@@ekaker

I wouldn’t mind using theirs, only thing is I didn’t buy it with the spray bottle because I bought the 4000ml version knowing I would be using a lot of it. I did buy a standard one thinking it would be fine, I filled it up 3/4 and after I used it once, I saw it a few days later and noticed all the liquid turned from clear to purple

I do the same thing but I use Adams Tire and Rubber Cleaner. I use interior detailer to finish (like Adams Interior Detailer or Nextzett Cockpit) because there’s no slippery surface then. Thanks for the video Pan!

If you like Adam's, give their Rubber Mat and Liner Cleaner a try. Three trigger sprays will take care of the dirtiest of mats.

Bought my Weathertech floorlines a month ago and needed to clean them by now so i bought some CG floor mat cleaner and it sucked, dried up my mats and it supposedly it advertises cleans and protects, this video came in clutch allways falling in your channel for specific techniques 👍🏻

I live in Michigan so I know dirty car mats. I take mine to a do it yourself car wash. $1.00 later they r power washed scrubbed and looking good. I take them and hang them up to dry. Easy.

If the mats are protected like shown, it makes cleaning easy. Just like a super disgusting vehicle. Once you pressure wash it, the majority of the big dirt and grime is knocked off. It's not 100% clean at that point, but dramatically better, ready to be hand washed. Same applies here. I clean my Weathertech mats as you showed, but I use 303 Protectant as the final conditioner and leave it on for a few minutes before wiping off. Yes they are somewhat slick after that, but look amazing and stay looking new.

I'm detailing a semi truck interior. It's got ribbed rubber floors bur the dirts is caked on. What would you recommend to get the dirt out? My drill brush doesn't even loosen the dirt. Even a pick has a tough time.

I knock the finish down with a microfiber towel. It works for me. For sure it’s a bit more slippery than with no dressing, but test it in an inconspicuous area first.

I did this using Purple Power at its recommended 5:1 ratio on rubber tan mats and could not get them clean to my satisfaction; dirt still shows a lot and no matter what I did or how hard scrubbed it wont come off even trying 3:1 formula.

I hang my mats on the clips at the truck wash, spray them shits down, wash the truck, throw them back in after the trucks clean. They look oem also by the time im done.

Wow I didn’t realize I can use stoners trim shine without making the mat too slippery! I’m going to try that as I always wondered how to get my mat looking new again. Every time I used all purpose cleaner to clean my weather tech mats, they always looked dull but didn’t want to put something that would make my feet slip. Thanks again Pan!

I have had problems getting weather tech floor mats “clean” also. With JUST the cleaner and brush and water, they will not come clean. But the stoner is the key to the new look after the wash!!!!

Thanks Pan! I had actually just needed to clean my weathertechs I bought last week for my car as I bought another brand for better coverage. I used Simple Green, let it sit and scrubbed. Came out almost like new but still showed dirt. I'll use this procedure in a few months when I clean my other mats, thank you!

Anyone notice the mat he showed near the beginning he was going to clean is not the same mat he actually cleaned? The one he cleaned wasn't a quarter as caked with salt as the original. I have these mats and they are ridiculously hard to clean.
