I also use Dawn soap to clean and then rinse well. Then I spray my molds down castor oil and isopropyl alcohol at a 4 to 1 ratio (75% alcohol and 25% food grade castor oil) to condition them. Even the thinner molds need conditioning to prolong their use. I have molds that are over 8 years old and still work awesome. Thanks for all your videos. You are very talented.

@@WizeOwlCandles you are so very welcome. I cant wash my latex molds so I just use that for all of my latex and thin silicone molds. It's a great conditioner for any mold really

Hi Becca, I find your tip very interesting but I have one question, do you leave the mixture on your molds or do you wipe it off? I primarily use my silicone mold with resin and wonder if there would be any kind of reaction. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi! I actually let it dry a bit in the bowl and then it breaks apart when it is just a little bit wet and it falls right out of the silicone bowl :) hope that helps!

Hi! This was extremely helpful! I am curious...When first starting off did you have leftover concrete mix after filling your molds? I don’t know how to dispose of it bc I know it is bad to rinse down the sink drain. Would I dispose in my backyard or throw it out in the garbage? Pls help thank you!!!

Thanks for watching! The water is room temp. I have noticed cold water seems harder to stir into the concrete. Hope this helps!

Hi! I love your videos. Question. For the small ones, the hexagon three pack ones, how do you keep them perfectly round? It seems like after I let the cement cure, some of them come out oval instead of round. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi! I usually will drop the mold a few times and tap the sides until it looks like a good form :) I hope that helps!

I found that I had the same issue with some of my forms coming out round but I decided to separate them into individual pieces and I no longer have that problem. They come out prefect every time.

Hello! :) I’m currently starting my own business, and videos like yours have been extremely helpful. Thank you for all that you do. I was wondering if you could help me out on something - I’m making my vessels out of Plaster of Paris and much like concrete they’re very porous and need to be sealed. I have been digging absolutely everywhere for answers and struggling a bit on getting the perfect sealant. I know many people use the polycrylic ( which works for many ), but i was wondering if you could lead me to what you’re using currently? I just bought Chengs Sealer and going to give it a try.. any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi! I personally use Polycrylic. It is a personal preference. I have tested it out multiple times with heat, seeping and it works beautifully Everytime :)

Hi, I use the white silicone molds and have soaked and washed them with Dawn and scrubbed with a scotch pad but I still get a demarcation line on my vessels. I use Direct Colors pigments too. Can you please suggest what I might do to fix this issue? Thank you!

I would recommend soaking in dawn soap dish or using a white eraser that you can find in the cleaning section at the store. Make sure you are cleaning after each unmolding and not leaving the concrete in the mold for too long. Thanks for watching and I hope that helps!

Hi! You can try soaking it either dawn dish soap. Also trying using a magic white eraser ;) hope that helps!

I've gotten that a few times. I let the dawn soap soak and I take my fingers and really Scrub. Sometimes you need to do it a few times. Soaking will help :)

I was letting my molds air dry after washing them. I realized though I used 1 the other day and I think the water mark showed in the finished product.

Oh no no no. You should never put wax down the drain especially if it’s soft from warm water. It’ll stick to the pipes and slowly start to build up

For the wax after I make candles I have to little to none left when I am rinsing it out. I have never had any issues. This video is about cleaning silicone molds. I don't really have anything on my molds other than a bit of crust from the cement (barely any) . I'm not sure where you heard the wax part. Thanks for watching though!

@@WizeOwlCandles silicon molds are also used for wax. And newcomer without knowing anything about your other videos might assume that a channel with the name candle would be cleaning wax molds.13 seconds in you mentioned you use the silicon molds for candles. Someone is going to try and clean extra dirty wax molds and hopefully my comment stops them since you have no disclaimer. Just because we have nice sinks with newer pipes doesn’t mean everyone else does.
