This video will teach you valuable skills to prepare your data for analysis in SPSS by describing the process of running frequencies, replacing missing data, and recoding items for reverse coding.
Awesome example of using SPSS Data cleaning and screening. We are using that program in our courses a lot of students did not know what cleaning and screening of data was when using the software. This was a great example of explaing, observing the data and being able to view all the input of data. Thanks for the upload CPG Orlando. Your video really help out with understanding SPSS Data cleaning and screening.
I have 225 respondents. For some reason the frequency table says I have a lot of missing data. For example, there's one item where 222 are missing but all the data is visible in the data view. What am I doing wrong?
Mean substitution creates a biased result. One has to analyze the pattern of missingness (MCAR or MAR or missing non at random) and then apply the appropriate missing data treatment technique.
thanks for the video! how can i reverse code items when the numbers are continuous? like from 0-100 but there are numbers like 87.43 etc because its on a sliding scale
Misleading title. Where is the cleaning part? You just recoded a few variables in a very ineffective way. In order to reverse you can just take the highest value and add 1. 6 minus the variable name would be more effective way of reversing. But seriously, change the title of the video. That isn't cleaning data.
@David Alejandro Aparicio Cleaning data is not recoding data. Cleaning data could be fixing the data into different formats for example. We first must define what data cleaning is.
