Immediately chuckled at the cables around your neck! :) The power distribution unit you use addresses a big problem with all the power needs too. Especially the plugs with with the transformers built in. Velcro wraps are also nice...never use zip ties! The trays are really the best bet.

Haha that was my wife's idea ;) Agreed on power! I have 8 outlets in my rack conditioner but I've used those up and I hate having random chargers for camera and light batteries all around the room as it's a small space already. Oh yes I HATE cable ties. The box came with literally prob 40 velcro wraps which was super neat!

You should check to see that your not jamming AC power cables with input cables together, you get loads of interference & hum sometimes. Also when you create a coil of wires it can act like an excellent antanae. You might start picking up radio traffic! Isolation, segregation & insulation is the road to quiet!

As mentioned on another such comment, I went to school for audio engineering and did understand the associated risks. However, my rule of thumb has always been if it sounds quiet then I’m good with that. This particular setup was extremely quiet. No audible inference, him or hiss. This was also an old system but my current system I do keep my cables apart.

What if I have a sub in the bottom?
@JoshuaKrell
@JoshuaKrell 17 дней назад
Good question. I don’t mix with a sub, but you could still run cable stealthily up a leg of desk.

so jealous of the output desk, I wish it fit the Komplete Kontrol S88 MK2. but great video
@JoshuaKrell
@JoshuaKrell 3 года назад
Thanks so much man! The output desk is a decent design. This isn't the same desk we DIY built one with the middle bay wide enough for the raven. If you built something like this you could make it fit the S88. You'd just need to make it a couple inches higher taller. I think it should be wide enough. My desk is 69 inches wide which is a good bit longer than the actual Output desk.

How about headphones and Guitar/Instrument? Do you insert it directly into DI? Or you have a solution for that too

Thanks man! Yes, still around haha. Unfortunately or fortunately, my guitar teaching studio and media work have just been super duper busy. I just haven’t had as much time for longer form content creation on RU-vid. As soon as things slow down I wanna get back at it! I’m pretty active on Instagram if you want to follow the daily journey haha. @joshuakrellmusic

I really don’t like how you’ve crammed your audio cables right alongside your powercables. The electromagnetic fields will likely add noise to your signals.
@JoshuaKrell
@JoshuaKrell 3 года назад
No audible or visual noise here.
@pete3816
@pete3816 3 года назад
@@JoshuaKrell do a little reading. It’s a big NO NO for any serious studio setup. So much so, that when racking your gear, power cables should be routed to one side of the rack and audio to the other. You might not be able to detect the increased noise with your monitor setup, but it’ll be there, and it’ll be degrading your signal chain.
@JoshuaKrell
@JoshuaKrell 3 года назад
Yes, I went to audio school. But the fact is I’m not a serious recording studio. The truth is if something sounds good, it is good.
@pete3816
@pete3816 3 года назад
@@JoshuaKrell audio school? Then you should already know better than to cram audio cables right up against power. And just because it ‘sounds right’ on your monitor setup, does not mean it sounds right on a decent monitor setup. You’re giving advice to others about how to setup their studio to ‘look good’. But in the process you’re giving them terrible advice on how to keep their signal chain as clean as possible. Good cable management is way more than just how it looks! Your advice is very much ‘form over function’.
@JoshuaKrell
@JoshuaKrell 3 года назад
Yes, I understand how cable management works. I have hand wired dozens of patch bays. If I’m not hearing noise on studio monitors running through a solid AD/DA converter or on referencing headphones or seeing seeing spectral noise on an analyzer, then for my current purposes that is okay with me. If it it’s perfectly acceptable for the large post production companies I work with, then for me if it helps me work faster keeping things out of sight and clean then that’s good enough for me!
