Cleaning windows is one good reason I am glad I live in a single story home. I power wash the house, windows, sills, and screens every year. After twelve years and a cat, I will be replacing screens next summer and I will do it myself!!
I absolutely LOVE cleaning windows. I also find it relaxing. I have a bunch of extension poles so I don't really need to get up on a ladder to clean them
My father was an iron worker...he connected steel beams building new buildings and power station. He had no fear...As for me I can do somethings on a ladder but, no I dont like to be too far from the ground. I didnt inherit my fathers ability. Boarding a plane is difficult if I think about it, so I dont. :) Thanks for the video, great as always.
When I was younger and my knees worked properly :P I LOVED to rappel --- if I had the proper equipment, I'd go off the roof of a building in a heartbeat!!! (PS-- rappelling was one of Hubby and my first dates-- 41 years ago!!!)
Your 50/50 mix of vinegar & water with a microfiber cloth works well. I have cats who like to rub their faces on the edge of doors/ jambs so I add a 1/2 tsp of Dawn dishwashing liquid. That was a tip from a window washer to get the smoke off the glass - yes I smoke...and it makes the glass shine without having to rinse if you don't use too much.
Having done this professionally to get me through college, something to use instead of dish soap is standard carpet cleaner. The reason this is good is that you want to avoid the suds that come with standard dish soap. Carpet cleaner does not produce a lot of suds. You also don't need a lot of it, maybe a tablespoon. Adding vinegar works great, like she said. I think a cup of ammonia works better.
I have a friend who walked around the top of the CN Tower with a harness when she turned 60 - I daresay she might do it, but not me!! I grew up in Scotland and when I came to live in Canada, window screens were a revelation to me. Very civilized - no more flies in the sugar bowl!!
Beautiful job! I love your tips so much♥️. Next time I clean my windows I’m going to use them all. Please tell me what’s your secret to keep your skin on your hands in such a great and healthy condition after so much cleaning? Thank you 💋
I tore my anterior cruciate ligament the first time I went out on a rock climbing adventure. So no rappelling for me. Also, I think my life insurance company would cancel my policy if they found out. ;)
For me the condensation will turn to full on ice! The windows aren't even old and were installed properly. A big help is to open my curtains as much as possible and to even leave a crack in the curtains so the room temp can get the glass. Then, microfibre cloths to wipe the window daily just to pick up that water. The plastic over the windows definitely prevents that as well but isn't astetically pleasing, but it does keep out the drafts and therefore saves on heating BC the window doesn't chill the room.
I am in Canada now, though when you mention mould developing around windows, and there causes, it took me back to my home country of England. It's a big problem but easily preventable - thankyou for sharing your knowledge.
I am in a 5th floor apartment with windows that move up and down, but they cannot pass one another and the windows do not fold out for cleaning. How do I clean the outside of these types of windows? I can't get access to the full outer part of each window and I am just stumped. Thank you!
Nope! Not hanging down from the roof. Also, a good hardware store can usually replace your screen very easily if you take the screen to them. May take a few days depending on their work load.
Thanks for the great info - could you please let me know what brand of squeegee you used & info in the iron handled brush you referenced in the screen cleaning section. Thanks!😊
Thanks for Sharing your great cleaning solutions for cleaning windows. No I wouldn't climb out or the the side of building to clean my 3rd Floor Window's!😁 I'm 68 yrs old now, maybe when I was still in my 40's I might have?😁👍
I use the same solution for exterior windows, but I brush it on with a broom and hose it off. I can do the whole house (single story) in 30-45 minutes.
Windows use Dawn dish soap and hot water than rinse with vinegar and hot water. Handiwipes and paper towels. Andersen windows can be cleaned on both sides from the inside.
So many products, so many steps, so little storage space and time (talking about biological time here😉). I'm willing to give Melissa's process a go, but everyone should do what works for them.
I know this comment has nothing to do with the video I just watched I love watching all your videos Melissa you're my cleaning guru Chad I would love to meet you you seem like a guy with a good sense of humourI'm hoping you can answer my question Melissa I was just wondering because my go to mop is the vileda microfibre I was just wondering how often should I change it and will it discolor and make my grout look dirty❓ please answer me this🙏🙏🙏😉

Thank you!! Needed this as I am a new home owner and I have no idea how to clean my windows and doors with no marks on them. I will buy some vinegar and dish soap to tackle this problem. Btw, can you explain what is Borax and its function please? Thanks in advance.

@@cleanmyspace I make music videos for my songs at my channel....I know how much the comments help sustain us...your channel is my absolute go-to for all my cleaning challenges...Kudos...it really is superb! 🙏
Hello, i was wondering if you have any ideas on how to clean windows with birds poop which is basically my major problem living in the farm. Thanks for helping.
As a professional window cleaner I cringe at the word vinegar. Please look up videos of professional window cleaners and you will never hear the word vinegar. There are many professional window cleaning soap. Or you can just use Dawn soap. You're better of using the washer and squeegee separate. That setup is best used on an extension pole for high windows. Doing 25 -35 windows that way will wear your arm out.
*Actual professional cleaner here. Don't listen to this idiot ^. Vinegar is FANTASTIC for cleaning glass and windows. Vinegar alone, or Dawn & Vinegar are amazing at cleaning glass/windows.*
*Actual professional cleaner here. Do NOT listen to the guy above. He's wildly misinformed. Vinegar is FANTASTIC for cleaning windows. Dawn & Vinegar is the BEST glass/window cleaner.*
Will the borax and vinegar treatment for mold and mildew on your windows also work for the mold and mildew on the groat of the tiles around the bathtub in your bathroom? TY
I've been cleaning high windows for a while now, as a part time gig. Yes, heights are an issue for some cleaners. Basic ground scaffolding can sway a lot if there are multiple people on it. Usually a single scaffolding should have 3 men. 1 down to assist and 2 on the top. Women can participate in this however, dismantling a scaffolding is strenuous. A suspended type is also same, just that you are dealing with extremely high places and a gust of wind will make the scaffolding sway. Strong winds, and the cleaning has to be postponed for safety reasons. If you're not afraid of heights, this job is good.
I have a one story house. So much easier to clean windows from my other house that was two stories and I had double the amount of windows. I like the squeege you are using. Is this on your store?
Not ever going to strap into a harness and rappel down to clean windows, fortunately all my second floor windows tilt in for easy access to the exterior. Just finished the annual deep clean of our windows and screens. Even use a dental pick to dislodge the pollen gunk that accumulates in the hard to reach corners of window tracks.
Can you please tell me how to clean windows that have water spots? My neighbors sprinklers hit my windows. They are constantly dotted with grime. We’ve talked to her with no help. Also, for some reason I’m window cleaning challenged. I seem to spread the mess around. I recently stopped using paper towels as they may have chemicals that are causing my issue.
The product is called Conrobium. If you go to this video, she links it in the description ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tH-5qjyzxOs.html
What if you have windows that open to the inside? What's the easiest way to clean the outside of those without flooding the floor OR leaving them closed and climbing the building??
No, I'm even afraid of getting too high on a ladder. I have two windows that are far off the ground. Last year I paid to have all my windows washed inside and out. This year I will be just doing the ones I can and inside the ones that are too high. At 72 I am not as sure of myself on a ladder.
If you live in an old Florida home you might have jalousie windows. Not fun. We had a door with jalousie window panes. Gunk collects in them. You have to slide the glass panes out to clean the metal parts. Bugs and dirt get between the window and the screen. Not so simple like modern windows.
