Thank you! I love the video and will use the tips for my Janome HD9BE. One question- where do folks find a micro vacuum tip (something to work on a Dyson hand held would be ideal)?

Fantastic instructional video. I wonder about the little sponge area just before you get to the bobbin itself? I had to bring my machine in for servicing and was heavily scolded for over oiling my machine! Thanks for this instruction.

I was especially looking for how to open it to clean the dust at the bottom of the bin. Inside the machine. The part you can't just handle.

What I would like to see is a quick video on the effects of the Pretensioner. I use thin thread for piecing (Aurifil or YLI Soft Touch (60/2)). I find that just going through the closest hole in the arm to the upper right of the pretensioner and into the pretensioner works well well with thin threads. I don't go through the two "outer" holes to create additional tension.

For Janomes that do not have oil holes on the top, they need to unscrew the two screws on top and lift the lid off. If you are fortunate to have a good service tech near by, take it in. I like to be able to do general maintenance myself because I use my machines everyday for hours. So in addition to the wick under the bobbin, there are 2 other wicks in the top of your machine. Unscrew and search until you find both, one to the right of center near the main shaft and one tucked up in a gear area to the left of center. If it is white, yellow, and dry put at least 4 drops over the course of 5 minutes. Many machines are sold with dry upper wicks. We all know about the wick under the bobbin but I only found out about the upper wicks from a serviceman that came to do all my machines. Reply

Do you have a video that talks about the pressure of the foot?

My bobbin has NEVER clicked like that. Everybody talks about theirs clicking and mine never has. I have a V1.

Would like to see an unboxing video of HD9 and the boxes of feet available. Website Janome has is not easy to navigate.

Have you used the 1/4" flange foot for the HD machine? It creates a perfect 1/4" seam allowance. Unfortunately that is too large and doesn't take into account the fold and stitching. I was taught to do a seam allowance test by taking four 1-1/2" wide strips of fabric and sewing them edge to edge. The resulting unit should be 4-1/2" wide and the two interior strips should be exactly 1" wide when measured. When I used the 1/4" foot (similar to the "O" foot) the unit was 1/4" too narrow and the interior strips were only 7/8" wide. I switched back to the T-shaped seam guide (anchored by a screw) and after a couple of attempts, got the seam allowance to a perfect quarter inch such that the test unit measured exactly 4-1/2" wide and the interior strips were exactly 1" wide. Are there any adjustments that can be made to the foot so that you can get the seam allowance to come out exact?

Do you need to also put oil on the wick in the bobbin area? I though you did need to do that.
@dmarie1157

They did not mention that but the manual does specify to oil the wick in the bobbin area.

Good video! I have the HD9 but have a hard time with tension, little info...I do bag making and like to use waterproof canvas for many of the linings but it has a hard time with a nice looking bobbin stitch (ie pulling it up) I have the top tension almost as tight as I can tighten it, I normally use a 16 or 18 size needle & T70 thread, any advice? Thanks for the videos!

@@michaeltexeira6185 thanks for your reply, what thread are you referring to? I use bonded poly on the cones, would that be close to what your referring too, if not could you refer me to what you are suggesting, what text and where you purchase? thanks

If you hear a metallic “ping” (that sounds like it is coming from the tension disk) is that an oil issue or a spring or is that normal for this machine? Thank you
@janomejunkies2044
@janomejunkies2044 Год назад
Well considering you don't oil that area I would assume its a spring issue... When is the last time you've oiled the whole machine though?

hello, a highly recognized technician in France says that this machine does not need oil and that for normal use it must be oiled every 2 years, for so-called professional use it fades it every year at the same time as the revision. He laughs and says they are a barracks frit differently. Frankly, it’s a real red flag 🚩 😮 1:11
