The pants with the rubber sides can be machine washed but you should use cool water and not dry it if your machine does both. In the US with hockey and in Canada with that and lacrosse goalie gear, some tub, some just take a garden hose and wash outside and others will use a large machine at a launderette. We know UK machines are much smaller as some US tumble washers are quite large in drum size. You shouldn't mix washing powder and fabric conditioner in the same load as the conditioner does help to wash out the foam. Also, you need to make sure your powder is bleach free as it will fade clothing. Products that combine the two are best if you need to use both in the wash. In the US all the things you tub wash could be machine washed and air dried. The things you can't wash could be washed down with a wet rag dipped in a germicidal cleaner, like the helmet. Drying your items each time you use them will help to keep the odour down. Also, if you wear underarmour under your kit, that helps to wick away sweat. They have summer and winter weight tops and bottoms. You should also use some type of freshener in your bag. In between if you find a neutral smelling fabric freshener (like Febreze or Ambi Pur in some places), that too can help the odors between washings. It's tough but that will minimize your need for cleaning. Even wiping down the things that sweat with a rag dipped in a cleaner after use when they have dried out will help you between washings, which should be done at the end of the season or more if you play with it year round.

@@SportsBallStu Since you do rinse to remove the washing powder, the Comfort can go in the rinse water and if it's too perfumed for you (they should sell one that has a masking perfume to make it smell unscented), you can do a final clear water rinse. While "automatic" powders/liquids are designed to be low foaming for tumble washers, some things like towels can make a load foamy (best to wash a like load by itself) and why some washers do multiple spin rinses.
