Thank you. I just bought my first katana, and tied the blade immediacy after unwrapping it from the plastic used to keep the blade from rusting during storage and shipping.

How do you usually clean your katana?

@@samurai-tavern Just wipe with a soft paper towel and apply oil. Very rarely I use uchiko powder before wiping. I haven't done a lot of cutting, but when I did, I found that oil kept me from getting scratches on the blade.

I only own non nihonto modern production katana. I use 91% rubbing alcohal to clean blade, then swing a couple times, then ensure blade is dry with a glasses cleaning cloth, then apply a coat of oil, which is a mix of legit katana oil from Japan, hoppes #9 oil, and mineral oil that has all been mixed together amd is soaked in my rag.
