He never addressed the fact that there is a low point drain on the hot side on the back side of the unit. I found out the hard way you need to drain the unit completely from the back drain if you don't want to drink the cleaning solution after you think you are finished.
Does the outside tip of the water jug mix with the drinking water once the jug is installed? I see that you touch and hold the tip when flipping to install the jug. Did you wipe down the tip? Are your hands clean?
Also, there's a cap at the bottom that you can remove that holds another 1/4 gallon after the hot water tank is emptied. This here is a half assed way to do it.
We just bought a brand new water dispenser and the first thing it stresses in the maintenance section of the owner's manual is: "Never use detergent or chemicals harmful to health to clean the water tank." I think this is common sense, people. It would make sense to use maybe vinegar and water to clean the unit. At least, that won't kill you or give you health issues if you ingest some of the residual fluid left in the tank after cleaning it. I personally would advise running clean water through it and draining it until you feel comfortable that you have gotten all the bad water out before pouring yourself a cup of water from it. Just a thought.
The amount of bleach in the water is enough to kill bacteria, but not you (only a capful). And if you watched, it does show rinsing with another reservoir full of clean water (only water) and draining before use. I do agree that you might want to run a couple of pots of clean water through before drinking, but not too many (and I would imagine they should also be boiled to remove any potential bacteria from your tap water) so you don't introduce any new contaminants into the system. After all, there's a reason you're using a filtered water system and not drinking tap water, right?
Also, there is essentially bleach in most tapwater and people drink that. It's all about dilution; it's highly dangerous when pure, not a capful in a pot of water.
Yes, I agree! I just did this yesterday, and my water smells and tastes like bleach even after rinsing it out like crazy. Not making that same mistake next time!!
@@anasquire4775that's bcuz the person in the video failed to mention that there's a low point drain for the hot side on the back of the cooler. That needs to be drained too or you'll be drinking the bleach solution you used to clean, no matter how much you rinsed. Even if you don't use bleach next time still drain this so that you're not drinking the water you used to clean.
This video should be removed off RU-vid. It's not safe to use bleach because not all water coolers are the same. It could cause people to accidently consume bleach.
