How to clone GitHub Repository (2024 updated)
In this video, I will show you how to clone a github repository from github.com to your local machine.
I will show you how to download a Zip file containing the code of the GitHub repository in the browser and also how to clone the GitHub repository with https on the command line using your terminal (bash or gitbash) on Linux, MacOS or Windows like a real developer, so you can then also commit and push any changes from the command line later.

is the folder "github" just a random folder you created to save the repo or do you need to have the github desktop app to clone the repo this way (through terminal/HTTPS)?

Great video but im getting confused with the terminal part. You have the screen just loaded up but what do i need to type in the terminal to bring up the new file i have created. Please help

HTTPS cloning is outdated. It doesn't work anymore through the command line interface. SSH is the right way.

It does work exactly as shown in the video. Ssh is preferred but I choose https for the simplicity of the video. Https works in the command line as shown with a security token.
