Great video. Thank you for your detailed info. I was wondering how well this PolyGloss did. I'm hoping to create/experiment with my own painted blanks onto wood for my laser machine with their other product PolyNatural that is on their site. I saw some comments with being concerned about using a brush and you mentioned use it lightly. What about using the throw away foam brushes or would that cause bubbles? For using wood I would have to preheat the wood blanks anyway before painting it to create the sub blanks to release gas bubbles in the wood. Just wondering what you thought about using a foam brush. Thanks
@atprints
@atprints 2 года назад
Thanks foe your support and comment. Using the solution onto wood works wonderful. I have not tried the Poly Natural as yet but I used the polygloss and paint and I did sublimate onto wood. Check out the video here 👉ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WL4nTaLQipw.html In relation to bubbles and streaks on your wood or whatever you are using the solution on, I always advice to take it gentle and light. Even if you dip a lot of the brush or sponge into the polygloss make sure to pass it light in one motion and you will over come it. When it comes to bubbles if you shake up the product or paint it on to rough you will get bubbles and you can always place someone over it so the bubbles can pop. I hope this helps 👍🏾

@atprints
@atprints 3 года назад
Thanks for your comment and question. In relation to the question I really do believe you should cure them so that the poly gloss can actually bake in the mug or whatever apparel you maybe using. You can use your mug press if your doing mugs or bottles but it’s important to cure them so the polygloss care bake in the apparel. If you want to see how you can cure them with a mug press you can take a look at this video I did with stainless steel and how I cure them and sublimate onto them - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3QGCUwsdYMs.html I hope this answers your question and helps you 💪

Great video! I love how you explained every step in details. I tried using this on my blanks. I used high heat white spray paint to sublimate on them & the poly gloss bleeds through the print of the wrap design. I used a very thin layer and made sure it dried. Can you tell me why is this or what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance
@atprints
@atprints 8 месяцев назад
Thanks for your question and sorry for the late response. My first question to you would be, did you sand or remove the old image from the previous item before spraying it with the heat paint? If you did not sand or remove the old image first, what will happen is that once you apply the heat paint, polygloss and sublimate the item, the old image will bleed through. Take a look at this video where I explained how to redo used tumblers 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NlaVpag3qIA.htmlsi=vcrwSt6-tFF9rrIe If what i commented isnt what you were asking or referring to please let me know so i can address the correct concern.

Great video.. got a question if i had messed up a sublimation tumbler if i was to spray paint over it then use this would it be able to work?
@atprints
@atprints 3 года назад
This is a very interesting question. I am thinking it might work. You might have to be very carful with the type of paint that you use. The reason I mention this is because after the paint is dried you have to apply the polygloss and allow it to bake and cure in an oven or heat press. I will surely give this a test and see the outcome. What you don’t want is that when you paint the tumbler and apply the polygloss and allow it to bake that while it’s curing that the paint does come off.

Thanks very much for your question and your comment and support. When you are applying the polygloss on the mug cover from one end to the other end. Left out the handle and the bottom which don’t need to be coated. But coat around the surface of the mug. I hope this helps and congratulations on your new start with sublimation and polygloss . Thanks for your comments and support. I tried polycrylic before and to be honest it did not work. When I coated the mug it looked fine, but when I sublimated onto the mug it stuck the paper to the mug and when I wash off the paper to see if the image would stay on, the entire image also came off. But please do update me when you do try it out. I also actually do have a mic but it’s just it was so far in that particular video. It’s worth a try and it should work. I have not tried it as yet but I have to. I think the only problem would be if you are looking to sublimate or print a picture on it you have to find the correct time and temperature as you wouldn’t want the glass to break.

Hey, thanks so much for subscribing and for supporting the channel. Thanks also for your question. I love when questions are asked. However, I did the mug last year February 7, 2021 and to this day I washed that mug so many times and the colors are still bright. Once you follow the steps and seal the item correctly you product will last long. I hope this helps and yes please do get some polygloss and try and let me know how it works.

@atprints
@atprints 2 года назад
@@Jimandterimuncy you can use a premium clear finish which protects the outside. I didn’t use it on this because my mug isn’t really going to be bounced around and also because I am the only one using it. The polygloss also has its own protective seal within the solution but using the premium clear coat is just another additional step you can use to seal and protect the outside of the item. I have some more video on using polygloss so make sure to check the playlist on my channel and you will see a whole playlist with more polygloss projects.

Looks great on the video. My question is up close, is it streaky or does it seem textured to the touch, from applying with a brush to the mug? I have a hard time finding sublimation mugs and tumblers in the shapes and sizes that I prefer to use. I don't mind the extra time involved...but, I am picky when it comes to a final product.
@atprints
@atprints 3 года назад
Hi thanks for your comment and question. For the mug I did it is very smooth as if I purchased a sublimation blank mug. If a person applies the poly gloss to hard with the brush it would leave streaks or lines. This is why you have to pass the brush gently over the mug or whatever blank product you want to make into a sublimation product. If you want I’m willing to send you a video so you can actually see it more closer. You can add me on IG @allan21thompson and I can see you pictures and videos of it and much more. In my honest opinion this is going to save you much more money than buying mugs all the time especially if you live in a country where you have to pay shipping and duties. I hope this helped and feel free to ask more questions ✅

Have you tried this on glass cups? Can they go in the oven without breaking? Also, does does the poly gloss come with a lot? It looks like you don’t need much for each ceramic.
@atprints
@atprints 3 года назад
Thanks so much for your questions. With glass it most likely will end up breaking with the heat. Let’s say you just allow the poly gloss to be coated on the glass, at the same time when you do decide to place an image on it, the heat from the heat press will most likely crack the glass. But to answer your question I have not tried it on glass cups but tried it on glass plates and because the plate is glass the images did not turn out to its full capacity. The poly gloss comes in different sizes. You can choose from 16oz up to 5 gallons. I chose to get a big bottle so I can use it for the long haul. Here is the link you can check out the different sizes dyepress.com/polygloss-sublimation-coating-for-all-hard-substrates-glossy-finish/ When I do my coating you don’t have to use so much. 1 mixture can coat a lot of items. You can coat up to 10 of more items depending on how you put it on. You brush it on light and not heavy which gives you more left over to use on other items. I hope this answered your questions and feel free to ask anymore and you can connect with me on Instagram if you wish @allan21thompson

Hello, sorry if it was already asked but is the polygloss ok to bake in the same oven as what I use to bake food or should I buy a convection oven? Also how bad are the fumes when baking the polygloss
@atprints
@atprints 2 года назад
Hi, thanks for your question, and no need to be sorry, I don't mind answering questions. Ok so in relation to baking your items with Polygloss in the same oven you use for food, I did it with mine many times and then cleaned it out. Eventually, I purchased a Hamilton Beach Oven which has the convection feature also to use for those projects. However, I recommend that you can use another oven rather than the one you cook in. Safety is always important. So yes, I would recommend you get another oven or the convection oven if you can and use that solely for Polygloss and other craft and baking projects. In relation to fumes. Polygloss does have a smell but to me, it's not a really strong smell but even in this case I always recommend using a mask, or when using it make sure you are in a well-ventilated area. I hope this answer helps you out.

To get rid of the bubbles use a little blow torch to pop them as in when you use resin
@atprints
@atprints 2 года назад
Thanks for your comment. However, Polygloss is a bit different to resin. You have to be very careful when using the heat as you can burn it or offset the curing process. So to get ride of the bubbles you allow it to sit for more time than needed and also you put it in the oven to cure and it will settle out itself.

Thanks for your question. I am in the process of trying this method. I do believe it can work on glass but it all depends on the method you use. Great video Allan! Thank you for sharing. Can I use an airbrush to apply the PolyGloss?
@atprints
@atprints 3 года назад
Thanks is for your comment and support. In terms of the airbrush I never tried that option but I think it’s best to use a brush or sponge and the reason I say this is because when applying the solution it forms bubbles and using a spray bottle or air brush may cause a lot of bubbles. You want to avoid creating bubbles as much as possible. If bubbles are caught on the items it will be hard to get them out. Also if bubbles are formed and the items are baked/cured with the bubbles on them, then it will stay that way forever. I hope this helps.

Hi thanks for your comment and your question. Please don’t feel or think you are bothering me because you are not. I actually do like when persons ask questions and interact with me. Yes, I would love to see the plate. You can find my Instagram and Facebook links in the description where you can reach out to me. In relation to the plate I follow the same steps in my video. 1. Poor on the polygloss 2. Paint it in with a paint brush 3. I use a container and cover over the plate so any bubbles that may pop up can pop on its own and that for around 10-15 minutes and I would check in between. 4. Once that 10-15 minutes has passed I’ll put it in my oven and the key here is really the temperature and monitoring it. 5. Take it out the oven after 15-20 mins and let it cool. But don’t leave it in to long or it will burn or turn brown. I have a video on how I sublimate onto a plate which I coated with polygloss. You can check it out here 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dneZelb3uj8.html I know this response was long but I hope it helps.

Thanks for your questions. You can use the cup to drink from and the plate can be used. The company noted that the Polygloss is FDA-approved and its food safe. However, I always recommend, when it comes to the plate, use it as an ornament. The cup can be used as normal. I also highly recommend not putting them in the dishwasher because what you don't want is the heat from the dishwasher to reactive the polygloss. When sublimating, it's best to use an oven and not a heat gun. you want even heating and temperature when the item is baking.
