What would be a code if the patient was seen at emergency room for fractured ankle and was referred to follow up on the ankle. Xray was taken in ED what would be the correct code? I got 99214 or 99283

For anyone struggling with ADD or ADHD and are having a hard time following her, read over the guidelines first and then come back to her videos. It helps make it easier when you actually know what she’s saying. I hope this helps anyone and good luck on your exams. 🙏🏾❤️❤️

Thanks for your videos - very helpful. So as a medical specialist (Urology) that routinely reviews radiographic studies with patients - plain x-rays, CT scans, MRIs, etc - shows them and explains the findings to the patient during the patient encounter in order to explain need for surgery or the results from surgery, do I get to count that time as an "Independent Interpretation" of a test? As a surgeon, that is a huge part of what we do, and I feel like we should be credited for that time with MDM in explaining the findings to the patient. Yes - there is a radiologist report on the imaging, but in a few cases, I might find or see something the radiologist missed and have to act upon it, clearly impacting MDM. Review of imaging also determines the type of procedure I might offer a patient, also impacting MDM. My orthopedic colleagues have said anytime they look at a film, it is a "Moderate" MDM for this reason, regardless if there is Radiologist interpretation. However, our coders disagree, and say since it has been interpreted with a radiologist's report, we can't get credit for it as an independent interpretation. Would love to have your opinion on this. Thanks!!

I really appreciate your tutorials for 2023 E& M. The only question I have relates to how to code e& m where 2 physicians (with 2 different subspecialties) from the same group consults a patient on the same day inpatient.

Could you clarify the definition of external because the definition that was provided had the word external in it twice which isn’t super helpful since using the word to define itself is redundant and doesn’t provide further definition. Any further insight into this would be super beneficial to the understanding of the concept. Thank you so much as always. You are an amazing help!

Hi Victoria, I have been watching your videos for some time now and have been debating on getting my coding and billing certification. I did go on your masterclass and also went the the entire preppy course that is offered through Auburn University. I have some questions that maybe you could answer for me before I start the program. 1. Do I have to go to the school to receive my certification/diploma ? 2. Where would the school supply a facility near my home to take the test? 3. What is the cost of the certification test? Do you get a voucher? If you don’t pass the first time what happens at that point? Thank you so much and I look forward to hear from you and get my new career started!

Please help. If provider states ordered labs , but does not state that he reviewed the labs, can we count each ordered lab as a point? Or are they summed up as one?Thank you!

When an emt brings the pt to the ER, and tells the provider their findings would that count as an independent historian?

Hi Contempo Coding, I am interested in solely becoming a behavioral health coder for mental health and was wondering if there were jobs that don't require the CPC certification. I am pretty confident on my psychological terms, but not so much medical terminology. I don't feel confident in the CPC exam.

Hey victoria, After thanks for your great effort and perfect videos Do you know if I can take the CPC exam with two books from Issue 2023 and one book from Issue 2022?
@ContempoCoding
@ContempoCoding Год назад
You are still permitted to use the 2022 book but may be at a disadvantage due to code changes. The exam will be based on 2023 codes starting January 1. I would direct you to the guidance provided by the AAPC: www.aapc.com/certification/faq.aspx " What year's books should I use? Since the code sets for each coding book are updated every year, it’s essential for coders to have the current year’s books/manuals to ensure accurate performance. Reporting wrong codes can lead to denied claim submissions and substantial penalization. It’s clearly very important to get an education on the annual code set updates and to obtain new code books every year. All AAPC exams are based on the current calendar year’s code sets, so we strongly suggest you use the current year’s books. The previous calendar year’s books may be used on an exam, but you would be at obvious disadvantage doing so. The upcoming year’s books are not allowed for exam use. The exams are updated every January for the new code sets. Examinees using their second attempt in the next calendar year will not be permitted to take the previous year's exam. Note: Please make sure you are now using ICD-10 CM or ICD-10 PCS when needed."

The college that I'm thinking of applying to uses EHR/EMR system to code, research and abstract patients information. It sounds more electronic than using books to code. Do you recommend this?
@ContempoCoding

I think it's a great skill to have but you will need to utilize paper books for all certification exams.

Review of all materials from any unique source counts as one element toward MDM---Do you think this truly means 1 ELEMENT? or 1 POINT? This has me so confused!

Hello Victoria, what about if a provider orders a test that is performed by a different specialty ( radiology) and is trying to receive credit for the order and independent interpretation after receiving the results? Can the provider receive credit for ordering and independent interpretation because the radiologist is billing for the test?
@houstonrosegardener5995
@houstonrosegardener5995 Год назад
The provider is stating they are doing an independent interpretation because they disagree with the radiologist.

I'm still just as confused as reading from the book. I would like some examples that you can offer and explain and not what's in the book. Sometimes, as I read the book, it's almost as if they contradict themselves the way its worded.

As you can imagine, I receive a lot of requests for individual tutoring or one-on-one assistance, but I'm afraid I don't have the time to offer that right now. I'm currently working full-time on my RU-vid channel and other projects, and I don't have the bandwidth to take on any additional commitments.
