How to Coil Bandsaw Blades for Beginners

I started young in sawmilling and when the bandsaw made its appearance I being too macho a man to ask, tried to imitate in front of others and so bit the blade in the face hard... no scars but lots of fear. I sawed shakes in a sawmill and so that small blade kept me prisoner for some time till one day it just worked and from then on was second nature. I never got good enough to do the huge coils from the flat saw as it took blades that were eight inches of steel and then the tooth.. some of those had teeth on both sides., you gave a great tutorial Josh

Great video Josh when I show people who don't know how to do it I usually hook it on the end off something and do it very slowly instead of flicking the blade this way it is less intimidating for beginners! The old saying is slow and steady wins the race! A good way to generate income on the homestead is sharpening and setting band saw blades I use the grind-lux 4000 out of Sweden Woodland sawmills sharpener and found a great setter which is the Dino tooth setter which is super quick and have bought the gauge from Cooks to check set shown in the video. I do sharpen and set as a little side business and have paid for my sharpener and setter about 1\3 so far! I will give links to the equipment if it interests you! You being in the usa probably Get it cheaper that what I paid for it up here in Canada! then go on FB market place and advertise you sharpen and set blades. I usually go look for people selling lumber send them a PM for the service. Everyone and their dog has a mill but not many doing sharpening and setting! Even after two years of sawmilling, when it comes time to uncoil a new blade I still toss it away from me onto the grass to let it uncoil itself!

this doesn't address how to get the blade to nest together like when you buy them, your blade overlaps and takes up double the height it should.

I have tried to do this 100's of times. Can't get it to work!!!
