Follow up video of Planting the seeds • Grow Chinese Pistache ...
I show how I collect and store Chinese Pistache (Pistacia chinensis) Seeds to grow Chinese Pistache trees. I collect the Chinese Pistache seeds straight from the tree and separate the seeds. I will show how to tell good seed from bad and even do a few cut test on the Chines Pistache seeds. I show how I separate the seeds and prepare them to store for winter stratification.

I like the videos. I have Dirr's book and it mentions if you soak them in water for 3 or 4 days and allow to ferment (like cucumber seeds) the coat will come off and the red ones float to the top and the good blue ones are sinkers. less work is always invited

I may try another group this way as an experiment, Plant some from each method and see which one gets best results, Thanks

Thank you so very much. I've just collected a huge bag of red and brown seeds. Wasted effort was saved thanks to your generous sharing. I'll head back out to the trees to see if I can find some blue ones. Come spring, how do I 'stratify' those seeds before planting?

Great news about the seeds. I found that the trees need pruning when they are young to ensure good shape and branching. They can be leggy and can grow taller than people expect. They handle the heat well. The jujube tree is also Chinese and is an invasive bear. The thorns make briars look mild. Do the seeds ever mold in the baggy? Thanks for the video.

They are nice trees, This is my first year to grow these, I will keep an eye on them for mold or fungus, Will check them every few weeks through the winter. There is a JuJube tree in my neighborhood where i Jog, They are cool but VERY messy when they drop fruit!

I’m going to try to do the pistachio seeds, but I’m going to use a pill cutter to half the seeds!

How can you tell male from female on these pistache trees once your seed sprouts? And is the female a better one to grow? Also which comes first the red seed or blue ? Thank you very much I have a adult tree and I want more we love it.
