How do scientists collect data? How does teamwork and planning come into play when you're helicoptering supplies to the top of a glacier to measure icequakes? As Dr. Celeste Labedz explains, scientists don't always have hypotheses in mind when they're collecting data. The hypotheses can come later after you describe the patterns that you find.
