Pro tip: Don’t get attached to Thursday night legions with dorklair. They constantly stand you up. Especially Larry.

If you can go all in on a pre order go all in. I always end up wanting figures I didn’t pick up during the preorder afterwards. If you end up getting a figure you didn’t want you can easily sell it for retail or more afterwards. Oh and doing customs will require you to get multiples of a figure so keep that in mind if you have ideas for customs.

Excellent Tips- #2 is very on point. I bought a Vitus and got very hyped about the figure and wanted to collect all the Spartan like figures, Like Pixxus, Rahmulus and Deltigar the Destroyer. My wallet and credit card screamed and passed out at the prices sellers are asking for. I pumped the breaks , took a knee and realized I was in the Varsity side of collecting. I settled down and was able to preorder Rahmulus in All-stars 5 preorder. I am looking forward to hunting down Pixxus and Deltigar in the future .

Great advice. Another tip I would add is to have fun customizing figures. Painting them really isn't that hard if you have the time and patience. Tons of third party companies who print 3d parts allow you to make one of a kind figures. Plus, some of the older figures that are super high in price can easily be made by repainting common parts.

Great tips ! The first time, that I saw a Mythic Legions figure was in your channel. Then, I saw a video from Mythic Customs, and I was hooked. In other words, Mr. Girard and you got me involved with the line, and I am very grateful. I have never seen a fantasy line like Mythic Legions, and I have always loved Science Fiction and fantasy movies. I am looking forward flying to NJ from Puerto Rico, so that I can go to the Legions Con, and I hope that I can shake your hands. You are also a master customizer when it comes to kitbashing, so I wouldn't mind asking you a few questions in NJ.

Patience is the name of the game with Mythic Legions. You have to be willing to wait if you want to collect this line of figures. I've been collecting Mythic Legions since the first Kickstarter. I do not have a complete collection. I only pre-order the figures that I like. Have I regretted skipping some figures after a pre-order is over? 100%. Is that the end of the world? Not at all. The Four Horsemen have in stock sale's and All Star pre-orders. The in stock sales have limited inventory. I personally prefer to focus on the All Star waves. The All Star pre-orders are a great way to get caught up if you skipped a figure. You just have to be patient.

I’ve seen these, but had no idea what they were as it’s a new line with no supporting show, video game, comic, etc. I just knew they looked cool. Saw the creators on a show talking about the line & bought my first one today… Swigg. I’m definitely not gonna be a completionist on these. Just gonna get the one’s I really like when I see them. A tip the guy at the store told me was starting with Mythic I’d have a lot of backtracking to do. He told me to start with Cosmic as that’s the newer line with a 2nd wave coming November.

Gratitude. Sir Bill, I appreciate your quality. Mythic Legions is prime line of my current collecting. I'm a veteran-newbie to this line and am attempting to play catch up. Started in 06' with DC direct & Marvel Legends. However, as a fan of chess and Tolkien I was wanting a diverse line of sword & sorcery fantasy figures. Mythic Legions and BFS' Vitruvian Hacks line, which is a mini Mythic Legions to my eye, are indubitably the definitive golden fleece!

Great list and advice. My advice would definitely be focus on the one big wave that happens a year as that is where 4hm raise the bar creatively and also give you a cohesive group of figures. Unpopular to say this but I would avoid the cabal. I have joined it twice and just find its fandom a bit too much. Hard to explain but particularly during preorder periods all these people showing their preorders of $100s of figures is something not to get caught up in. I think the sourcemen site is great as is Mythic customs and the 4 horsemen o clock show it’s unlikely you will miss out on info if you regularly watch these resources. I would also say don’t order too much in one go and like Bill s advice embrace retail. Having said that if you do have buyers remorse the figures generally more than hold value and are easy to sell afterwards if needs be. Definitely look forward and there are always at least 5-10 absolutely Stella figures every year which are must haves and then through the all stars you can fill in any holes you have.
@DorkLair
@DorkLair Год назад
Excellent tips! And yeah the Cabal can be a great source of info, but you do have to be willing to filter through a lot of stuff that’s not that valuable or productive, so not for everyone for sure.

I started the line when there was the instock sale on 4H website. Things I wished i knew was 1. That this was not a recurring thing. I missed out on a couple of figures, thinking these would be at retail afterwards - didn't know that wave was long gone. 2. I was not aware of what parts were new or not compatible 3. Did not know which figures were highly sought - made the same mistake for the deluxe barbarian in the in stock sale 4. As it was my first checkout, i stumbled a lot (being outside of the us) and some figures sold out by the time i wanted to check out I like the point about not looking back. I have missed out on so many figures - having started so late. But my question, is what is the acceptable price for a named figure once it is sold out at retailers. The price where people won't be like " you shouldn't have paid that much for this" I'm looking at a Magnus at around 75 (with tax and shipping - still got to ship it to my country) and I seriously don't know what to do.

@DorkLair After doing some digging on ebay I think the idea of me doing a skeletor kitbash is not going to be possible since the figures needed for it are expensive so I'm gonna give up on these even though I'd like to collect them but can't seem to find many figures I'm interested in at a decent price.

Would be great if they did a European preorder scheme with a European based distributor stocking legions to avoid import taxes. In a way they do but with the 'retail companies' with marked up prices. Probably doubt it would happen unless a larger toy company bought them out
@JohnC_EuroLegions
@JohnC_EuroLegions Год назад
Retail price is 50 dollars and the European retailers offer them for 50 Euros. I think that’s pretty sweet.
@DorkLair
@DorkLair Год назад
Like I said in the video, the direct pre-order price is more of a discount for ordering direct. The retail price is not a “markup,” it is MSRP. $50 USD is MSRP. Sure it would be phenomenal if more people had access to the $37 direct pre-order pricing, but I honestly think the reason they’ve been able to keep it so low is BECAUSE they haven’t tried to reach too far or make too many changes or upgrades to that option.

What I don't get is that some people sell stuff more than Ebay in some of the groups. Example Orc Deluxe Ebay 81.99 +8.99 shipping, FB group 110+ shipping.
@DorkLair
@DorkLair 8 месяцев назад
I consistently find way better deals in the FB groups than eBay, but that's mostly because I've become friends with a lot of people. A lot of these groups are large and if you don't have a close network of friends you'll miss the deals. For example Deluxe Orcs for $75 shipped will get scooped up lightning fast and the $110+ listings will be the only ones left sitting there unsold as you casually browse for deals.

My biggest mistake was buying an original Gorgo Aetherblade TWICE. the first time he was in awful condition, was not sold as described, so I resold him to fund ANOTHER one and that one was fine except his torso didn't stay on, it wasn't even a matter of the ball joint being loose and popping off easily, it just straight up didn't even fit and would fall off no matter what, once again sold not as described. After unsuccessfully spending roughly $600 or so between those two figures, reselling both to try to recoup my loses, AND seeing a few months later that 4H are redoing Gorgo and he looks even better?? That was my lesson to never go back and get old figures. Ever. The only exception I suppose is if you want the MOTU tributes, otherwise just be patient and I'm sure the character you want, or something similar, and more than likely even BETTER, will be released later. Be patient!

So is the idea to build an army? Or just collect all the figures you think look cool? There's a storyline to all of this I think I read but in general I like this line the more I see it, the figures are so awesome looking but I don't know what the goal is besides collecting whatever you like. Does building an army just add another layer of fun and how do you even build an army?! Are there general guidelines so you don't buy too much of one thing?
@DorkLair
@DorkLair 6 месяцев назад
People collect Legions for different reasons. Some people do want to build an army for display, they like to have a commander and then a bunch of legion builders. Some people like to try to collect just the named characters, and display those. Some people like to build an adventure party DnD style (warrior, wizard, thief, cleric, etc). Some people collect by faction. Some focus on customs. I tend to do a little bit of everything, especially popping and swapping to make new characters. If you want to check out the lore, go to SourceHorsemen.com and browse around. It's definitely a good idea to find your focus. You could focus on your favorite type character like all knights or all elves, or pick a faction. Maybe I'll do a video some day expanding on this.

@@DorkLair Well I've had him in hand for over a day now, and I do have a few thoughts. I certainly adore the figure, definitely one of the visual highlights of my entire action figure collection. And as my first legions figure, it definitely got my mind thinking about the customizing potential. Unfortunately I already broke the shield handle, which is a big loss, even once I get to gluing it back together. I'm not sure when I'll grab another one, since I do have other lines I'd like to give attention to as well, but the chance I'll get another in the future is definitely high. Though my immediate next step will likely be to do a bit of 3d printing as I'll finally been able to take my resin printer out of storage. I have lots of plans for prints, but a few legions related ones (especially weapons) are definitely in the mix.
