How to color Manga & Lineart in Photoshop (For Beginners) 

I've decided to get better at photoshop while stuck in quarantine and what better motivation than coloring manga

this video. right here. this is how i got into coloring manga. i sat down in my 1st period computer class and watched this, went home, rewatched, then tried it myself. this was years ago at this point. Now, it's 2024 and I've made mad progress. And I thank you for it. You commented on my original tutorial, which was shoddy and all around bad, but I have no idea if you're still around. If you are, I just wanna say, thank you, man.

this is easily the most detailed, well thought-out tutorial i've ever seen for coloring manga omg,,, literally every other tutorial is just like "okay so you have your lineart right so now you start [insert fancy terms without any visuals so i have no idea what's going on] and then bam! done!" and i'm still here staring at my mangacap with absolutely nothing accomplished LMAO,,, now i actually feel like this is something i can actually do, so thank you !!

I'd just like to say thank you for going out of your way to explain the basics. I myself already know the basics of photoshop, but I did have a flashback to totally different project I was working on. I looked up a tutorial and the guy just kept telling me to check out 19 other tutorials just to do the one project I was trying to do. So thank you for not putting your viewers in that same position.

I got a bunch of playlist collection for digital art and how to color but damn this is the only thing I manage to follow, not slow, not fast just a normal person who really knows what and how will you execute the teaching and lesson. You really did great, the excellent way. Got to follow you from now on, anyway keep safe.

Having to watch the entire video has really helped. I've always used the Paint Bucket in these photo programs. Never realize Gradient or Gradient Map can make things much easier like that. Also you are almost at 7K awesome!

I can't draw, but I guess I can colour. Unfortunately, I can't buy colouring books because of quarantine, so why not colour manga? The tutorial was really helpful by the way, I've never used Adobe Photoshop and this was really easy to follow. Thanks! edit: guess who's going to be to be a one-man team of colouring saiki kusuo's manga? not me lol sorry just gonna be colouring manga for a potential MMV i'll edit, but then i'll also have to learn to use after effects, when i'm just getting started on photoshop lol

Great tutorial especially for people who don't know a lot about photoshop it definitely made it easier for me so thank you but this may be a pet peeve for me personally but I prefer using the pen tool instead of the Polygonal lasso tool because it gives you cleaner curves but you're absolutely amazing keep doing what you do

How do you make lairs, and mask or whatever they are called? like how you have the shirt, hair, face as seperate images whenever i color something i have to keep redoing it Also my photoshop doesn't have that gradiant map icon

Your really good at explaining for beginners! Why is it that when i select a color to change my selected area, it doesn't change to that color but to gray? Am I doing something wrong? I selcted the area I wanted to color, clicked the half circle button, and then whenever I chose a color, it doesn't change to it but only a gray.

hm, im trying to color in highlights on black hair, i selected all the hair and it turns white, whenever i try to change the lighter part of the gradient, nothing changes.

What if I missed a spot on a character when I'm outlining them with the lasso tool? How do I get that spot? Do I have to make a whole new gradient map to correct spots that I missed?
