This was great........splendid tips! The way I see it, it comes down to 3 areas mostly: your name (personal brand), business name (professional brand), and creative name (personal/professional brand). Main difference is your name is typically a one man show and can branch into anything. The creative name can involve multiple creators but the name should revolve around the niche (if adhered to posing some limitations to relevant topics), while the business name is designed for growing scope in the business and employee count (business name can be creative but typically it would emphasize heavy branding and simplicity). For instance a lot of gamers have random creative names but kill it on the platform, then you have something like Linus Tech Tips which is clearly a business/organization name. I am trying to think of a creative name myself but did consider my personal name. Creative names also are more focused on a single individual unless it's to be for an organization.

Got quarantined started my channel youtoons in mid September. Started posting episodes of my animated series oddyssey and new episodes every 2 weeks and went from 0 to 155 by mid November. My goal was 100 by 2021 and it definitely surpassed that. I'm an animator, writer and a voice actor but I didn't know much about youtube. Sean - I see LOTS of kids later complain that they used their real name for their RU-vid channel, but they are later teased or bullied because of silly, embarrassing videos. They should NEVER use their legal name. Instead they should develop a 'persona' or 'stage name' and become the actor in that persona. 95% of all TV & Movie actors use stage names. A content creator is an actor even if they want to claim they are 'real' or an 'average joe' type of guy. Every one of these kids wants to be major influence later, but they hide this desire with false attitude.

My opinion the reason why many people on youtube are successful is because of their authenticity and people want to see people that are real. If we want to see actor/ress then we can find them on any network TV, Netflix etc. I am not sure if the same applies to kids as I would think many parents are helping their kids create the content (However that's just an assumption)

Nice name. This is what my social media coach told me & other sites! I think I heard it takes 3-8 seconds for someone to decide if they'll keep listening. Simple but useful tips for creating a name! Awesome is the knowledge you have, but also the ability you have to convey information in a clear and concise manner for those "new" to RU-vid and name creation. Drat! I may have to change my name because it seems someone else has one on Instagram, but not RU-vid--- which I was unaware of when first setting up my channel. Not sure what to do about that now -- but sure do wish I'd seen your vids before my name creation. Oh yeah, the links you provided were very helpful too! 😜🌺

I came up with 5 different names for my podcast/youtube channel before I looked for the domain name availability. That narrowed it down quickly and then tried mixing and matching different combinations. Settled with Mindful Skeptics Podcast because it comes up first in SEO. Plus I discuss politics and religion, so the title references the main approach to the topics

I recently changed my name because with my original name immediately I knew it represented me but there were so many other versions and channels that had the same name but changing it was the best decision ever it’s so cool

When in doubt, just go with your name. That’s what I did. It also allows you to change your content a little more and you aren’t so tied down because of a name

I like alliteration. Like superhero names, it helps with keeping the name memorable and otherwise uncommon. Plus, I could make my channel logo out of two M's which I like.

thank you for this video, I changed my channel name into something really connect with my content, and before that my channel names was my first and last name, well I'm not a public figure who would search for my name anyway, you really influence me a lot on how to grow my RU-vid channel.
