To complete a 1099-S or 1098 for any real estate transaction, one of the forms you'll need to get filled out is IRS Form W-9. It looks like a confusing document (as most IRS forms do), but getting it completed is a pretty straightforward process. I'll show you how to do it in the video above.
The IRS W-9 form can be used for several different purposes; luckily, it's not difficult to fill out. Follow the instructions above, and I'll show you how to do it!

I have a question about the "percentage owned" box. It has a 100% box and a "other" box with a blank space to write in the value percentage. The instructions don't say anything about that box which I would think is very important. How do you get the percentage owned?

That's where you would put your business name (whoever is filling out the form). If you don't have a business, you would just fill out the top line and leave #2 blank, because you'd be filling it out as an individual.

Hey I'm registering for a payment program where developers are paid for developing games on this a platform. They are requesting either a filled w-9/w-8 form in order to be verified for the payment. If I'm filling this on behalf of myself since I would be considered a solo developer would I only fill lines 1, 5, 6, and the SS#?

I believe you'd also need to fill out #3 (check which type of entity you are, sound like you're a sole proprietor or single member LLC) and Part I, where you fill in your SSN.

For my Creator Code people its very simple. If it's for personal use you enter you name in blocks 1, and 3, under "other". 5&6 are self-explanatory. Then just enter you social security number, sign/date and you're done. I don't believe you need the other info since its pertaining to a business you own. Since this is a tax payer identification for you personally you aren't required to insert that info. Subscribe if this helped and have a great day

Lunarr ? You can print it off, sign it by hand and scan it then send it to your computer or with adobe pro you may be able to sign it digitally

If you're being taxed as a sole proprietorship (hint: this is what most people do when they're starting out - if they're filing their tax return as a Schedule C on their personal tax return), then you'd put your SSN. If you're being taxed as an S-Corporation (filing a completely separate 1120S tax return for your LLC), you'd put your EIN.

I understand. I've actually had the same hesitation in the past... but it really is a legit requirement that the IRS puts on companies whenever they pay out more than $600 during a single tax year.

If you're filling it out personally, then you'd put your personal name in Box 1 (instead of a company) and you'd leave Box 2 empty. Then you'd check individual/sole proprietor in Box 3. And in Part I, you'd put in your SSN instead of a business EIN.
