Mr. Kirby, An extraordinary video. my briefcase is bright and new, , thank you for letting us know that old leather is dazzling again,, thanks to your theory. Congratulation God bless you!!
Hello! I am so thankful for your leather care videos! QUESTION, I used SAPHIR Medaille d'Or Pommadier... on a Miu Miu Matelesse handbag. The leather is gathered and quilted. It was so dehydrated, I used the pommadier on the entire bag. But now I have lots of huge wax deposits all over the handbag. How do I remove the wax deposits please?
Hi Kirby, do you have any special recommendations for cleaning and protecting the leather handles on a briefcase, considering all the friction, dirt, and oil they take from your hands? Thanks!
Hi Kirby, I have two handbags which are a similar colour to the leather briefcase being conditioned. If I choose to use pigmented Canadian Cream (or Juvacuir) what colour would you recommend? I realise an exact match is unlikely but would be happy to blend two colours if appropriate. I only discovered your videos recently and thoroughly enjoy them.
I just started getting into leather bags and shoes and have a few bags I’d like to maintain though Im just not sure what process would be best. Most of my bags are Italian leather and I wonder if I can go with this process or if it’s something different I’d do for my type of items
Hi, and thank you for your great videos! I just bought an Italian hand made bag in Palmellato leather. How can I best protect this bag, any tips before taking it into use? I believe the Palmellato leather is somewhat similar to Saffiano. Thanks!
Dear Mr. Allison, I wanted to ask you, if you could do a video on leather dyes and how to use them? Saphir Teinture Francaise Dye and/ or Saphir Juvacuir. Many thanks in advance.
Hi Kirby, thanks for the great video! Is it advisable to also use this on jackets? If so, is it good to use it on a brand new one or only when "needed"? Thanks so much!
I keep seeing leather lotion and leather conditioner mentioned. What is the difference between leather conditioner and leather lotion? Do they differ in their purpose?
Hi Kirby, I am having trouble finding a Saphir Canadian Cream in Cognac as that is the colour of my leather bag. Does Saphir not make the Canadian Cream in Cognac? If so, what colour do you suggest I use instead? Thanks and keep up these very informative videos!
Dear Kirby, would you recommend the treatment with these products for a briefcase made out of English Bridle Leather with the high concentration of oils as well or something different? Thanks in advance
I have a cognac leather backpack that I have used for three years and finally was able to buy the matching weekender, however the color from the backpack is now less vibrant than that of the weekender. If I wanted to match them, how would I do this best? Darken the weekender with a light of coat of black creme? Somehow restore more color to the backpack? I prefer the less vibrant color of the backpack
Hey there hope you're doing great. I just want to ask does your bag feels oily after that? Because I tried conditioning my newly bought wallet with leather conditioner (using saphir nappa leather) and it still feels oily even after i waited for 10 mins and buffed it. I wonder how long should we wait? Because it kind of leaves some finger print if i touch it. Thank you in advance!
Hi Kirby - in one of your earlier blogs you suggested it was ok to use the Saphir Renovateur (shoe creame) on leather bags, but it seems that in your more recent pieces you highly advise against that. Can you shed some color on this? I have a vegetable tanned calf leather briefcase in tan, that I want to put some creame on. Would the renovateur be ok or is this creame in your video better? thanks
Hi Kirby, another great video, thanks! I have a question about caring for various exotic leathers. I know that there is Reptan for Crocodile/Alligator and (I presume) snake and lizard skins, but are any specialty products advisable for other types of leathers, such as ostrich, sharkskin, or even the Russian Reindeer?
Hi Kirby, do you have any recommendations for cleaning the black marks off a men's leather (light brown) card wallet? I've tried the Saphir mink oil, along with general leather cleaning products but it's not made a lot of difference. Any help would be appreciated, thanks again for the great videos and content.
Hi Kirby love your stuff... just wondering though your beautiful hand stitched jacket... is it missing two additional cuff buttons ... there are four stitched button holes but only two buttons... not trying to be smart or critical but I noticed this on one of my vintage Byblos jackets recently... you have taught me heaps about appreciating my nice things ... all the best. Philip
Actual Functioning button holes are a elegant touch and hallmark of a Bespoke or fine tailored jacket and leaving a couple Unbottoned just reminds the observer and person wearing the piece of its hi quality. Just thought I would chime in....
Hi i have a few questions regarding use of Saphir. I have a few hermes bags in boxcalf, epsom and swift leather and wonder if the Saphir Renovateur is appropriate? I also have the saphir Creme 1925 and wonder if that is just for shoes? And would you know anything about M Mowbray Leather Delicate Cream?
Question: Would you be able to share information about the blue paint color in the office in the video? Paint manufacturer/paint color? It's difficult to find a shade of blue that has depth of color but is not too dark upon application. This appears close to what I am looking for. Thank you!
I used a conditioner on my bag and I feel like it definitely darken it and also took the little shine it had away. It’s looking very dull. Will the original look ever come back? Is there anyways I can shine it without using a conditioner that may darken it?
Hi Kirby, great video as always. I do have a question for you; if one were tight on cash or just plain frugal in terms of leather care, could they still use the Renovateur and Pommadier cream polish in place of the leather lotion & the Canadian on their leather bags?
@TheHangerProject Regarding the canadian cream. I've followed the steps of the video, yet i cannot achieve a minimum degree of shine nor patina with a single coat of lotion + Canadian cream. Should I add more layers of Canadian or it may over-moisture the leather?
You could try another coat. However, I find that buffing the briefcase with a horsehair, or better pig bristle, brush really is what is required to shine the waxes. A chamois just doesn't work as well.
Hi Kirby. Returning customer; I have a Montblanc black chrome dyed backpack. It is full-grain cowhide and dyed through. I was wondering what products I should buy from your website to condition, polish, and protect my backpack. It is the "Urban Spirit Backpack Large" Model 114662. It has a medium matte finish in person. I appreciate it if you get back to me so I can check out soon.
silas snoop don’t make the mistake I did; I put mine down at the start of the summer holiday and let it roll over on itself. Now it won’t stand up properly unless there is a stiff folder in it. Store it either flat or fully upright.
Bernal Mora I think the same two products would definitely make any leather product look better. If you’re really concerned about changing the look in texture, you could just use the leather lotion.
