Absolute hero! who knew all i had to do after tearing my hair out after 10 resets was connect to it from a computer and not the dang tether app on my phone!
We just got a new more powerful modem/router, now I have to reset the two extenders - Arhhh, Hope your instructions work… the first time was easy, because they were new. Now I feel I have forgotten how to do it. Wish me luck 🍀
The first thing you need to do with these TP Extender's is to Reset them! I wasted lots of time setting the 850RE up (and another similar TP model). So as a last resort, I plugged it in and held a biro tip on the reset pin for 2 secs until I got some blinking. Then I unplugged, re-plugged next to my router and used the Method 2 IP setup. It worked first time then.A 5 minute job in the end, once you know how.
Just watched two vids on to how to set up extender, the first was long boring and not so laymen terms,second was this video shorter quicker nice voice which I had no problem listening to. Much better video for this extender!
I got one of those. I set it up the way it is described in this video (my router has the WPS button). All the lights behaved exactly as they were supposed to. But when I look at the Wifi reception of devices in the 2nd room to where the router is, there is zero variation in wifi reception (they're still with 40% or less reception, which is completely unchanged from not using the device at all). I also tried setting up this extender everywhere between the way to see if that was the issue but with no results. edit: Never mind, I just got a 20% increase in reception. It's kind of underwhelming though 😅

After configuring and when a device is connect to the range extender will it get the same IP subnet as the router or would it create a separate network like a repeater?
mine is exactly like the 3:40 the wireless LED is blinking, is that suppose to be keep blinking? and because i set it to clone. i didn't know whether my phone/mac connected to the main router or the extender.
I want to set my pc up wirelessly, if I unplug it, I wont be able to log onto the TP link website, so how am i supposed to set it up? Any help with this will be appreciated. Im on Virgin, can I connect and set up then change my wifi?
Decided to try it with a new xfinity router and the WPS system worked without a hitch. I did have to hit the reset button, however. That reset button is located on the button.
sir my extender wifi work fine for 1 minute, then connection lost, i plug out, and plug in again, then work for 1 minute again then connection lost, i did'nt know why sir,
I tried method one and it worked, but it just messes up my normal wifi and doesn't let me connect back. What do I do? Have I done something wrong? Plz help
someone gave the extender to me. will it work on my modern if it's not the same brand. and can I do this using my phone any way. I ask BC I don't have a PC
What if the wireless light is only solid. It doesn't change, despite me resetting it and unplugging it. I think it may be faulty or just a shite product.
To anyone having trouble using these methods, I figured out the easiest method. If you have an Ethernet cable laying around, plug one end in the router and one in the Ethernet port on the extender...wait a few minutes and they should connect!
I can't even being to describe the problems I have had with this device it connects and stays fine for a while but then it disconnects and then I have to restart my god damn router because even with the extender unplugged, it stil won't connect.
If u have this problem, it is because; 1. You placed your wifi extender in a dead zone spot simply place it closer to the router. 2. Your router’s wps is off in the routers setting. (Look below for sollution) 3. Your router’s signal sends a 5.0Ghz signal while the extender is a 2.4Ghz signal. Simply change the settings. Look below how. 4. Your router is old and you should buy a new one To fix option 2 or 3 go to 192.168.1.1 on a internet browser, fill in username and password, this is twice admin or twice user. Somewhere in this setings menu u can enable wps and/or change your signal to 2.4Ghz. Thank me later The extender is not the problem here.
Any suggestions how to set the time in a TL-WA854RE ? The menu seems to have no option, yet I can only define "France" as my location and the system log is always one hour off as if it syncs with GMT 😞
Everything works, thx, but is it possible to connect to pasword protected wifi, and to make a new wifi without password with this extender? Because there is the sam password in both
This f...ing wireless led always blinking ... Repeater works perfext I set up everything manually. No need to use WPS ... 5 years and on still blinking :))
I did step 2 since my modem doesnt have WPS and the setup never goes past the rebooting of the exteder. I already stayed in the same step for over 10 minutes and nothing happens. Any suggestions?
Will this help with streaming? When there are a lot of people home and on the network and I am trying to watch a movie online it will keep stopping every few seconds. Will this help? Thanks
ok, quick question: when I try to use the ¨admin admin¨ username and password, the device tells me that it´s a wrong login (even if I resetted it several times). Where do I´m fucking up? or the device is fucked up?
N Kitro dude, my mistake was that I was not resetting AT ALL the equipment: just Plug the thing and press both reset and circular button WHILE PLUGGED IN THE ELECTRICITY. You will be able to re configure everything again
Is there a difference between wa850re(eu) and wa850re(us)? Because my device is wa850re(eu) and I downloaded on it the latest version of the firmware (us) Did I download a wrong firmware
Option 2 > Configure > Step #5 "Finish" : After 100%, the Range Extender Name disappears from the wifi list. I tried scanning for other wifi available, range extender's name is no where to be found. Pls help. Thanks in advance.
I hate this thing so much. When it works, it's fantastic. But every time I need to reset it and reconnect, there goes an hour. I have WPS, but the "quick" method has never worked. This time, I can't even access the stupid thing to do method 2. Time to shop for a different brand.
I have connected the extender to the network. And the computer can access the internet through the extender. (TL-WA850RE).However, the computer could not access the network drives which is connected to the original wifi network. Could you please advise a way to connect to the actual network drive which is connected to the original wifi network.
I have only one question: When i do the method with the WPS button then the TP-LINK Extender network (i am talking about the network in method 2) disapears and i have only my network? Is that a problem or they just connected and i can enjoy my internet extender?? Note: All lights are on than "Ethernet" because it's with the cabel

My extender doesn't appear at all on the wifi network. I found it using a wifi searcher but it doesn't show up on my computer, laptop or phone. I've reset already.
Does it work both ways wirelessly and through cable at the same time? It's just I'm using it currently for my PC so I have the ethernet cable plugged in to the router and my PC but I was wondering if it was expanding the internet wirelessly at the same time for other devices or if you can't use it both ways.
My extender WAS working fine. After a power outage, it lost the extended signal. Brought it back closer to the router. Plugged it in to Electricity and pushed the restart button on it with a sharp object until only one light was on. Then, pushed my WPS button on my router and pushed the middle white button on the extender. It took a few times to do repeat the entire process (even resetting the extender again) but it finally worked all ALL lights are on the extender. I moved it back to its extended location, and 80% of the lights came back on after a minute or so in this location.
ok my problem with this extender i bought is that the extender turns off the signal after a while. im not the only one with this problem. review on amazon had this prom too! can you fix it?
