How to Connect Alexa Amazon Echo Dot to multiple Bluetooth Speakers

Hi, this video shows you how you can get the Amazon Echo Dot to connect to multiple Bluetooth speakers at the same time so you can do multi room audio.
Normally the Echo Dot will only connect to one Bluetooth device at a time but by using Bluetooth Transmitters via the 3.5mm aux jack on the back of the Echo Dot you can connect up to numerous Bluetooth speakers and devices at the same time.
You can also then use the Echo Dot 3.5mm aux output and the Bluetooth at the same time so you can connect up an old music system and newer Bluetooth speakers/headphones.
Many thanks Vince

Fantastic help this mate thanks. I've wanted to play music off my mobile phone via Bluetooth(rather than use amazon music) and also through a Bluetooth speaker at same time, bought the double transmitter you show at beginning and soon had it working. I found that if I connect 2 Bluetooth speakers u can still go into Bluetooth on phone and connect and it still plays through both speakers is that cos the tiny gadget is transmitting to both speakers and echo is receiving phone. Either way glad it works. Only thing I need to do is get a 2nd better speaker as older one doesn't sync correctly so they're out by a tiny amount for each other. Seen post on here explaining why. Nice one

Hi Vince, great channel, it certainly is helping my wife and I to get to grips with all of this technology stuff. One question though, what is the device you used to connect the Anker speaker and the Echo dot remote? is it on Amazon UK? I might have mentioned that we are both in our 70's and with my wife's disabilities this has enabled her to get more from technology, we have already added two Wi-Fi smart sockets which help with her bed side and standard lamps etc. Many thanks again. (We have the Echo Dot generation 2 bought Christmas 2017.)

That's very inventive, the latency is noticeable but that's just the nature of the Bluetooth beast. Pretty cool idea though.

I currently have a work light in my garage w blue tooth speakers in the ceiling. Only one will connect to blue tooth currently at a time off my iPhone. Will the splitter that allows two connections sync up evenly if the speakers are near each other?

Nice just found your channel and found it useful. As a new viewer I hope you dont mind me passing this on. Pretty sure you will already know this, but if you or anyone else watching really needs all the Bluetooth speakers to be in sync you will need a AptX Low Latency Bluetooth transmitter, this will just about give you a lossless sound. For this to work at it's best the receiving Bluetooth speakers must also support AptX low latency. I found this out recently when I wanted to set up the rear surround speakers from my AV system to be wireless/bluetooth and soon discovered a delay in the sound. I also had to use a small amp to power the speakers but the result is pretty good for my needs.

Can I install an Amazon Echo upstairs and Link (guess that means synch) it with speakers that are downstairs ? Or would it be better to have an Echo Dot downstairs synch'd with said speakers (downstairs). 2 separate Systems (or can one synch the two Echo Units - NB. one is upstairs and the 2nd in downstairs. It's a big old House, so a bit unusual.

Thanks for the video Vince. Hope someone can give me a quick answer..... I have a 48 year old stereo system that brought back home with me from SE asia ( amp, tuner, and 2 speakers) If I plug in the dot into a my LEFT AND RIGHT input AUX jacks on my amp , will it play STEREO to my old WIRED speakers, or will both speakers only play MONO sound? ALSO, IF the above setup would only allow me to play in MONO to both speakers, would it make any difference if I plugged the dot into a Bluetooth Transmitter and Receiver first, and then output that to my amplifier and speakers?

Question. Is it possible to use Echo Dot as a hub. Idea is to have listen some particular radio/tv shows from online which are not supported by tunein. I can use my ipad as source and echo dot as a speaker. But I would like to connect various bluetooth speakers from echo dot by the aux 3.5 and bluetooth transmitters as shown in video. From last video I saw that as soon you connect 3.5 cable the echo dot speaker itself do not work. Just somebody has experience? Before I go and order/buy from shop. Thanks in advance.

Hi, on the Dot it can only work on one or the other so when you use the 3.5mm jack it will override the Bluetooth. Unfortunately it cannot use both at the same time that is why I used the splitter in the video and 2 Bluetooth Transmitters.

Hi Vince Managed to get my Blue tooth speaker to work (after a lot of faffing about) Bought the device shown at the beginning of your video, but could not get it to "pair" with my echo dot now lost the speaker connection, I had to delete the device and then add the speaker, all I wanted to do was to run two speakers one in the bedroom and one in the living room. I have the same ANKER speakers as you, and same set up. What am I doing wrong??? or is it because I am Old and senile????

Yes, but once downgrade the audio to analogue (the 3.5mm jack) you can't get the quality back up. What I need is the Dot to automatically switch to latest active Bluetooth input and pass that through to Bluetooth speakers as a the Dot's output (in AptX Bluetooth).

Thanks for the video. Is the only downside that you are limited to the range of bluetooth ? I.E if I have my dot upstairs, would it be able to see my bluetooth speaker down stairs? Any way to combat this? Thanks.
@Mymatevince
@Mymatevince 7 лет назад
Hi, yes, you are limited to the range of the Bluetooth but you will often find it can work upstairs to downstairs if the dot is in the room above. A way around it could be to run a long 3.5mm cable from the dot to a more central location in the house and then install the Bluetooth transmitters there to cover a wider range. Also when you have a 3.5mm jack plugged into the back of the dot it totally overrides the dot speaker so you always have to have the Bluetooth transmitters and Bluetooth speakers turned on which is a shame because it could have been designed to allow the dot speaker to always remain on as it is more than adequate for answering commands etc. So I leave the 3.5mm jack unplugged unless I need multi room audio and then I plug it in and have a mixture of wired and Bluetooth devices which I will show in a different video. Thanks.

Great video. I'm still searching for a way to have multiple bluetooth speakers, synchronised and playing together, in the garden. This wouldn't work because they're out of sync with each other. It might work for my rainstorm tracks to drown out the noise from the road. I'd quite like, every now and then, to play music too. As far as I can tell, wired, passive, waterproof computer speaker pairs are not a thing... Else I'd have dots in the electrical cabinets and twin speakers running off them. And there's the first quad bike of the day... :(

@@davidoabire7951 I got the Echo Link with a Bluetooth adapter hooked into the Toslink input on the Echo Link. You add the Echo Link to the “everywhere group” in the Alexa app and select “line in distribution” to “everywhere”under settings. Then you can select any audio on your cell phone and Bluetooth it to the Bluetooth adapter hooked up to the Echo Link and it will stream to all of the other Echo speakers throughout the house.
