Yes we can, but you need to connect encoder with counter for lenght cancelation. There are some length measuring encoders. Which give our put in pulse which can be connected with counter . So after connection you need to count and watch reading of particular length. Then set that cutting or stopping length as a set point. Plz connect heavy rating relay along with counter for power protection if you machine is using high power motor.

You need to understand how to operate motor in forward and reverse mode with single relay. Then do same connection with this.
