dude I was feeling sooooo sad and stupid and discouraged. then after watching your video I feel so happy. What you said answered SO MANY questions that no one else was talking about or making clear. THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH!!! I can make music now.
This is USEFUL! So so so many music youtuber’s assume that people know some basic stuff... but where will they learn that? Explaining the basics like audio interface and which cables they need is gold. Really wish I had this when I started two years ago, but I’m just glad it exists for beginners! Definitely gonna send this to people when they need to know what to get
Agreed! I am okay with music theory from high school, but in terms of what equipment I needed to add to my computer in order to make music, this video helped so much! At first, I thought that it would cost so much money to start, but it didn't really. Thanks, Sanjay!
Yeah, cause I don't know anything when it comes to a home set up like this, I need basic ABC's method of learning, I'm hungry so i will learn quickly! 😁
Hai sanjay..i use scarlet solo on my A.I i also use ableton 11 im having prob i use usb nektar se49 on trak wich should i schoose? I can see the wave when recorded but it has no sound😅
Don't know how I stumbled upon this video, but after wasting time watching 10+ other videos, was finally able to get my setup together. with this one. Straight to the point, super descriptive and was able to follow it step by step. Lifesaver.
You did this ~a year ago, and between April and September 21, I have watched it umpteenth times... I find "revelations" every single time... Could you please update this and give us a fresh one. I can assure you that there are several prehistoric men and women who would watch this and benefit.. immeasurably. Thank you!!!
This video is incredible! I've been so confused and don't know where to even start. I gathered all of my equipment and was just freaking out about how to set it all up. Thank you so much this is incredibly helpful.
Getting an audio interface for my birthday on the 19th, so glad you made this video! After seeing your interface video, i chose the Focusrite as I am on a budget.
It's nice to see you using the Arturia Minilab Mk2 even after 4 years after it first came out. I bought it because of Budget and stock constrictions. But you are using it. That makes me feel so proud.
This was perfect timing. Setting up music and video workstations for my sons 14 & 12. You have blessed us so much with all your helpful videos! Thank you!!!
A very important video for all the young producers and musicians. The topic can easily get confusing but your presentation made it easy to digest. Thank you!
I was on the verge of selling all the equipment I bought to pursue music-making. Your video answered so many of my questions in a concise but complete way, and my mind is changed. Thank you!
I just wanna say a big fat thank you bc like someone else commented, I’m a complete beginner & I don’t even know what half this stuff means, what I need or how to use them.
A female here, new to music production! This is the video that I was waiting from you for so long! Thank you for this, I was super intimidated by everything but now I understand the tech side of it 💗🙌
Hi Skanda! I'm so glad my video helped you out. We need to showcase more female producers on RU-vid. When you've recorded something you love, share it on Instagram and tag me and #SanjayCNews. I'll be happy to take a listen and maybe share it on my News Report series.
@@SanjayC thank youuu! Of course I'll definitely tag you once I start everything! Just 18 years now, about to buy my little studio, thanks to you. Much love to you and Dharti! 🙌😄💗
Just found your channel and immediately subscribed. You provide soooo much valuable information for home recording etc, and equipment reviews. Thank you Sanjay! In the sea of information videos, You're a keeper!
This is great Sanjay!! I wish I had seen something like this when I first started. You hit all the important concepts someone needs to know to get started 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
WOW! I´m from Argentina, and after two days waching a lot of videos you explained everything (I had doubt about the conections) . THANK U !! ps: Nobody explain the connections; are so important!.
I'm a dinosaur from the early days of midi, getting back into home recording...wow, have things changed. I found this video to be amazingly helpful. My question is in regards to audio. If you have multiple audio producing devices, does your audio interface need numerous inputs? Or, should you run separate audio outs into a mixer and send the outs of the mixer to the audio interface??
Hi Nancy. You can do it both ways. Using a mixer may be more cost-effective since multiple input mixers are typically cheaper than multi-input audio interfaces. If you really want to go the audio interface route the Audiofuse 8Pre by Arturia is a good choice and isn't crazy expensive
Oh boy, it's a dinosaur revival lol. Glad I'm not the only pre-millennial looking to return to music.. but I was teaching music before Midi but the standards. Thank you for all the info on setting up but you missed out one major piece of equipment - the actual desk itself. Is it a custom build or are there actually units out there with an extended pull-out shelf?
I got my studio set already but have always wondered how to do it myself....Moreover this is a topic in which many quality videos arent made....glad u did.
Hey Sanjay, The Focusrite interface has two outputs at the back (L and R) for monitors. But what if you have monitors that only have 1 output? Like a 3.5mm cable. Do you connect it on the front like you did with the headphones on this video, would that produce the same sound quality?
Two pieces of gear I bought, a Denon DN-100ps connection box, very handy with USB 3.0 data x4 , 1 usb fast charge and 6 outlets. The other is a Furman PST-8 power strip. I plug all my standard equipment into the Furman, and plus any additional equipment into the Denon, which goes into the wall and my PC. I spent 280$ on power strips, very worth it. I use the Denon every day on my desk, the Furman filters my dirty lines and keeps me protected in a surge. I have another desk that has two keyboards, a card reader and 10gbps data port, I used USB extensions for that instead of a second PC to save energy, there's already enough electronics. I notice you have that issue in your studio as well, too much electronics :) . They are nice but can be overwhelming spaces, electronically. All I need is some Iloud speakers, the really nice ones because they would fit perfectly, and I will be set forever. I also want to pick up a ISA one box at some time, i have a space for it. My ports and I/O's are almost full, but no problems so far. I run Abelton live 11 from both desks with no problems, been pretty good.
@@SanjayC My ROI for courses is high sanjay. I have grown from 100 to 250$ per month, which as you know is half the monthly salary in India. So I'm doubling down and building my courses in udemy and skillshare.
Wow! Dude, you're killing it! In time, this can be a full-time job for you! I'm so happy to hear you are successful. Do you need some help getting the word out to more people? Email me at sanjay@sanjayc.com. Maybe I can say something in my upcoming news report.
@@SanjayC not yet sanjay. Till now I have been creating small 1 hour courses which has helped me a lot. But now I'm now working on making comprehensive guide - 75 hour course on music production. I have filmed about 35 percent of the course. When I finish the rest I will definitely email you sanjay. I'm making this 75 hour course which includes learning the ins and outs of ableton, going over every plugin and every effect, making their first beat in ableton, drum programming for (pop, hiphop, trap, trance, funk, rock) -each includes 15 individual rythms, introduction to sound design, what is reverb and types of reverb and how to emulate them,compression-types and functions indepth, mixing, mastering, and some extras like podcast editing, sound design for video. Till now all the courses I published are 1 hour and 30 mins courses on small topics related to music production. I offered them for free for one month and got 2000 emails from people who enrolled after that I published two more courses and made them paid. Now I'm making this giant course to make it paid and drop small free courses continuously along the way to collect emails to redirect them to the giant course So once I finish this mega music production 101 course I will defined contact you sanjay. Nothing I have done would be possible without your channel feeding me inspiration every week. Thank you so much. Much love brother.
I can only repeat what others have said. This is so good as instead of going straight into Ableton, We learn here about the connections and settings. It took me a couple of weeks to get my audio, guitar, Scarlet and midi controller to work together. Wish I had seen this earlier.
Sanjay, you're the 5th person I've watched to help me solve my problem of connecting midi to into scarlet into reaper. Got a good feeling about your video even though I'm only 15 seconds into it. I'll let you know...
Sanjay C I’ll be honest, I’m not much of a beat producer, I am a singer/songwriter in Nashville mainly Country, CCM, Americana. But I love your videos! Thanks for what you do 👍👍
@@SanjayC Hey thanks for replying and asking! Right now I only have some stuff I worked on in college classes (MTSU) up on my Sound Cloud. soundcloud.com/dylan-todd-745037774 I recommend listening to my song "I Feel Good", that was one Pop song I produced and co-wrote with the vocalist of the demo. I also recommend the song "Beyonce" a song I co-wrote with a Pop songwriter in college, it was actually recorded at The Tracking Room in Nashville, with Session musicians and a programmer. The other songs are all more country/Americana style songs. Two of them also recorded at The Tracking Room.
Don't forget to always mention the Free Voicemeter Banana for Virtual external output, without which the keyboard controllers cannot work. I am glad I found it and it didn't frustrate me so much, but I have seen reviews where some who are not good at research had to hire someone to install such virtual meter or driver. It is the most essential tool for everyone on Windows.
Good to hear that. By the way, I really loved my 2016-2017 MacBook pro. I prefer it over the 2018. But if you're buying a brand new one...that's cool too
Oh maaan u dint leave anything … cool job. On lighter note u r the best marketing executive who clubbed bunch of items in video and still all them are most needed to setup a studio .
