I've been watching your videos ever since the one you made about reviving dead 18650's by jumping them in parallel with a good cell. I appreciated how you include the "why" and not just the "how". Electronics channels that don't have any speaking and quickly show exactly how to do something... Let's just say they are not for me and I'm tired of skipping them. Anyway, I thought I subscribed a long time ago. I'm sub'd now. Keep up the good work, my bro

I love those brushless lawn mower motors! I’ve got a few of them salvaged from a dumpster and rigged one up onto a little razor mini dirtbike, from a different dumpster. Got a cheap 1500W controller and that tiny bike is a BEAST now! I was powering it with 84v battery (made with two modified 40v ryobi packs in series) for a while but had to switch to a smaller 72v pack after one of the ryobi packs started having issues. I live on the side of an insanely steep volcano (Big Island, Hi) and it speeds up the steepest grades effortlessly. It was one of those rare projects that just went together with very little effort or modification. Now I’m just searching for a slightly bigger frame because despite attaching a taller seat and modifying the handlebars I barely fit on the little Razor MX350 frame. Hopefully some day I can find a frame from a MX500 or MX650 to use since they have suspension and disk brakes. 🤞 Love your videos! Keep up the good work. Mahalo! 🤙

@clstrc594 any brushless e-bike controller will work! I’ve ran them with over 80v on a 2,000w controller no problem. Just make sure whatever it’s connected to is geared correctly and that it doesn’t get too hot in use.
@alexfrancis7093
@alexfrancis7093 2 месяца назад
@@maukaman im planning to use one of these motors for an electric mini bike build. What sort of Amps were you pushing through it at 72v? Any idea on the best gearing, 6:1?
@maukaman
@maukaman 2 месяца назад
@@alexfrancis7093 I believe the most I ever put through that particular motor (inrunner style mower motor) was 2700 watts or so but It seemed like it could possibly handle more if geared correctly. They are pretty torque-y motors but if you want that wheelie torque or you climb hills you’ll want something like 1:7 gear ratio. I probably used 1:8 or so since I live on the steep side of a volcano 🤙
@alexfrancis7093
@alexfrancis7093 2 месяца назад
@@maukamando you know which sprocket fit the output shaft?
@maukaman
@maukaman 2 месяца назад
@@alexfrancis7093 it does depend on the exact motor you use, some of the newer ryobi mowers use an out-runner style motor and may have a slightly different shaft. I’ll have to get back to you about the shaft dimensions when I get back home, but mine had a double-D type indent a little larger than the typical my1020 sprocket found in the little Razor bikes. I just filed the sprocket out from one of those to fit

This is great!, I love tinkering with things this, I've built 3 different racing simulation chassis..used an old 90's honda e brake from a scrap yard and added it to the chassis with wood and rubber mounts and etc... even went so far as to go to the pawn shop for some old speakers and made 3 different Bass transducers and added them under my racing chair, the pedal deck, and under my shifters! The smaller one under my shifters!.. If tour driving a good racing Sim, you can even feel when you grind the clutch in your hands and feet mostly

Hey, great video! I literally have the exact same motor setup out of my lawn mower that I salvaged in hopes of putting it on my bike upon everything the same as you said my whole sensor wires are showing 16 volts instead of 2.5 volts like each one of yours wires showed and it doesn't matter if I'm pulling the trigger to turn the lawn mower motor on or not. Also my motor I'm sure you can tell I am not able to get it running but it was running 5 minutes prior to being taken out

Thank you, this helps a lot figuring out my atlas 80 volt mower. My controller died. I think I can still find ground and they did mark the power wire red so that helps a lot. Does under bolting hurt a BLDC motor? It’s a 80 volt max system but nominally 74 volts. I will likely have to settle on a 72 volt controller. Most likely will need to use a lower voltage pack and make my own battery vs the 20S battery they use. Good mower just cheap controllers.

I am sure the 3 of those are for halls and not sure of the other two.. possible old halogen light and 7th pin maybe a 5VDC. Trying to chose and buy a higher amp controller to bypass the inner hub controller along with a new battery kit and display for it. I know bit about how they worm but it is still pretty overwhelming. Would you think the controller you have here would work for it? Kind Regards
