like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ru-vid.comUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
*I like the old style Echo Dot because it's small also **Newest.Technology**, gives out decent sound and doesn't take up a lot of shelf space if you want to put it on beam in the workshop or shed.*
Thanks for the tutorial. I didn't register with smartthings , but once I did I could turn the TV on and by voice. Now, I'm trying to extend my speaker group from a couple of minis and a hub to include the TV. However, it doesn’t show up as available for grouping, although it's in the Home list as available for powering on/off. What am I missing? FYI, it's a smart TV and the speakers are connected to my stereo system.
Great video though. I kept on needing to ask google to turn on the tv back everytime you say, "hey google, turn off the tv." Idk why I'm laughing to myself everytime it happens 😂😂😂
This was a good video to confirm that I've set up SmartThings properly - thank you. What confuses me is my remote control has a microphone to select - this doesn't work. I get a message to say finish setting up, but despite being on the same network, it seems not possible to sign into the google app on the tv itself. It is curious there is an Google Assistant App on the tv that can't be signed into and used and there is a need to use SmartThings. I don't understand. Has anyone else experienced this?
I have a few questions: 1. Can you also command the hub to open a certain youtube video on the samsung TV? 2. When you open a video using the youtube app of your mobile phone, can you then click some button (like chromecast) so that the video should be shown automatically on Samsung TV without giving a voice command to the hub and without having a chromecast device connected to the Samsung TV?
Hi dear, how can i use tve voice to close the Tv? I added the tv and the google mini to my google home app. And i added the tv my adding the samrtthings app to my google home.
Just a tip, whenever doing tutorial for Alexa and Google home, please mute the hey google and hey alexa, because your voice then controls the smart home in people's home watching your videos. For example you just turned off my TV 🤣.
For me this does not work, google alway says could not find device or something. Is this because my tv is not connected via wifi but with cable?(still the same network though) or is this because my tv also is part of a surround group with some sonos devices?
To be more precise, turning on and of worked, but asking for example " hey google play the witcher" that whas not possible and to be honnest thats the only reason i would link the tv to google home... can someone tell me is the surround is the problem or what i need to do to make this work? Thanks!
When i try to register my tv (Samsung series 6) it suggest series 7 model and when i try to register it gives an error message. I tried several times and it does not work. I have gone through all the suggested models and cannot find the Samsung series 6 model 6800? Can you help. TU
Because the control is happening over wifi or bt, if tv is turned off, no signal is received. My tv after software upgrade acting same way, I used to be able to turn on tv with the phone before, not anymore.. it is the going green saving energy etc...
Unfortunately, its because your TV doesn't power the WiFi unless its powered on, so it can't recieve an ON command from the Google Home or Phone. Happy New Year 2021!
Thanks for the tutorial I was able to connect my Samsung tv and it’s working. I have roku tv, attached to my tv, snd RU-vid and Netflix as the apps is there a way to toggle between these using my google hub? Thanks
scroll up where airplane mode, Wi-Fi, BT, brightness, etc. are and select Screen Mirroring. Your tv should pop up and click it, enter the "airplay code" on your TV and BAM. If it doesn't work your phone Wi-Fi and tv Wi-Fi may be different or your TV doesn't support Screen Mirroring.
Pro Tip, don't say Smart Devices trigger words in the video, such as "Hey Google", you should mute part or all of the phrase out to avoid triggering viewers devices while watching.
