Thanks for the detailed information. question: Rather than following all this steps can we do this by using AMI? taking ami of old instances and launch an new instances with same ami and new keypair will that work, please answer anyone

Hi namratha at the end while you selected the key pair why u didn't select the AWS key pair -nv.ppk instead of that you selected AWS key pair -nv-private key.ppk why? We have to select the temp instance private key right? We copied that key during the process by attaching the volume right the last part bit confusing...

What about when you are not able to properly dismount the ebs volume from the instance. It gives the mapping error, and how would we go about fixing the mapping error so we can mount the ebs volume to the temp instance in order to modify the authorized_keys file?

Instead of doing this, can we do this task by SSH as Temp EC2 and use the AWS Key Pair of Temp EC2 , copy and save it in a file and use the command- ssh -i ec2-user@ Please suggest?

hello. hope you can reply me soon. I have a question. My Original do not exist ec2-user. that user has remove and I have create centos user. now i lose my key of centos user. I did it like video. but the user ec2-user from Temp instance not exist on Original instances. So I need solution in my case. Could you please tell me how can I login?

What can be the use case for this because once the instance is stopped all the data residing in that instance will also be lost, so even if we are able to ssh to that instance we won't be able to recover any data can you give me an example where this may be used?

What made me to ask the ? was that when you were attaching the original volume to the temp volume, the volume changed to xvdf from xvda which were the initial volumes for the 2 instances. During the relaunching & reattaching of the stopped instance ,you copied the prior volume to the root device. In a nutshell,I am still learning a great deal from your teaching styles which open more conceptions about AWS.
