Bro I had an old tv from a house I lived in two years ago and had no remote or wifi connection to set the TV back up today. I looked at my old wifi connections on my phone and used your method and got it working. You’re a legend thank you so much

You are a massive legend! I had some trouble trying to recall SSID, but looking at the settings of some old gaming consoles helped me out. But this whole method worked exactly as you said it would! 2 of our tv's had no remotes after my nieces got their hands on them and lost them to the shadow realm. Really saved us with this process!

Hello Jason, I just wanted to say thank you very much. My Roku remote stopped working. I reset the WiFi box about 20 times, troubleshooted the remote and nothing worked. I watched your video not knowing I can use my phone as the remote. It had taken me less than two minutes to set up everything. Thanks again!😊
Man I was looking all over the net and the tubes for this solution. You had it the whole time thanks for sharing the knowledge on a most likely rare situation where you have no remote, no menu, (app set-up or input buttons on the tv (all I have is a power button under the tv). Your video made me the man on the scene for the night and saved the day.
That’s actually crazy smart. I just used this to help my girlfriend. We moved her into her dorm and she left her Roku remote and she always goes to me for tech help💀. I understood how u came to this conclusion and everything and explained it to my girlfriend in a more simple way so she could do it herself in the future. Thank you for sharing this tip
Thank you soo much!!!! We exchanged our modem and router for news ones and were unable to update roku network settings because we couldnt control it with the remote being on a different network. Lost the original remote long ago. This saved us lots of aggravation.
Landed in Denver today and noticed we left our streaming stick remote back in Texas.. Naming our mobile hotspot to our home internet worked perfectly.. You are a genius!!!

So this only works if the last wifi the tv was on is yours. If you got the tv from someone else rip. You’ll either need their info or go buy a remote and than return it after you set up the new internet. Smart method tho

Okay... but my Roku tv has never been connected to a WiFi. Now I have WiFi.. but can’t connect my tv to my WiFi (in order to use the Roku app) because I lost my remote.... they should really put more buttons on the tv

My internet was upgraded today and I had no ideal I would come home to no television :( Anyways, having two roku devices and no remotes, thanks to your awesome video I was able to trick my roku into thinking I was on my old ip address and reset them both with the new ip address and internet. Yo you save my mental wellbeing while on vacay. Lol. Finally remembered to bring my roku with me but forgot to bring the damn remote with me on vacay. So Ofc couldn’t get my roku on the network where I was staying. BUT! I found this and it worked like a charm and was able to transfer the roku off of my hotspot and onto the network where I was. Really inventive work around. 👍👍

This video was the only thing online that helped me!! BUT I had to do something a little different. iPhone won’t let you use hotspot and WiFi at the same time, and the Roku app won’t let you use the app unless you are connected to WiFi. So what I did was so the same thing that you did with the changing the name of the phone and the password on the hotspot, but I turned my hotspot on, get my old phone, connect to the hotspot on my current phone. So I got my old phone and tv connected to the hotspot on my new phone, and was able to connect to the tv on my old phone! Thank you so much!!
