About this video
In his tutorial, we go through connecting Printful to an existing WooCommerce store, adding products, setting up product personalization, shipping and tax on Printful’s side. Remember that you need to set up your own hosting to use WooCoomerce. If you haven't done that already, you can try SiteGround. It's a hosting platform that comes with WooCommerce and Printful plugins pre-installed.
To connect an existing account, the first thing you need to do is make sure your WooCommerce is up to date. Some of Printful's features don't work with older versions of WooCommerce. So to connect your store to Printful, you'll need to update your WooCommerce to its latest version.
We also offer the Product Personalization Tool for WooCommerce. Note that product personalization only works with the latest Printful plugin, so be sure to update to at least the 2.1 version before you start. The products available for personalization are DTG products and wall art, and you can personalize both texts and images with the tool.
As for shipping, keep in mind that the shipping and tax settings applied through Printful’s plugin will be enabled only for the products that are fulfilled by Printful. But you can use our shipping rates in combination with other rates you have set up on WooCommerce.

I sell digital products and print-on-demand items using Printful. I have nexus only in Texas. This means that for my digital products, only Texas customers should be charged sales tax, but for Printful items, customers in 36 states should pay sales tax. However, the checkbox mentioned starting at time index 10:50 says taxes will be "[c]alculated for all products listed on your store (including non-Printful products) that ship to states where Printful applies sales tax." Is there a way to have WooCommerce/Printful distinguish between the two? At first I thought I could use the flat rate sales tax for certain products, but the sales tax varies in Texas, and I need to charge accordingly. So, no flat rate. Any ideas?

worked on none of my shops. I have even tried swithching the firewall off and deleting all cache and cookies.. doesn't work. I have the latest Woocommerce version from april 2020. AND Printful doesnt have the option of simply manually exporting the files without connecting to a store. Would be better if there would be some CSV or XML option to export. I give up, pity because I have +100000€ in sales every month in my 2 other print on demand stores and printful does nothing to keep the clients. I will continue using Printify. Pity, Printful has better mockups.

Quick question... Does installing the Printful plugin restrict your Woocommerce store to just items from Printful? Or can you still add products from other retailers too alongside those from Printful? For instance, if we had the Printful plugin installed, would that stop us from selling other products that we buy in ourselves? Or creating affiliate listings? Really like the idea of this but don't want to be restricting how we can use Woocommerce.

Hey, Sigrid! Yes, to achieve it, you should create your product variants in your ecommerce platform first and then you should go back to Printful and sync each variant with respective product and print file. :)

Thank you for the video! Gosh it looks like a lot of work 🤔. I wonder how much it can cost to find a POD shop assistant who can help to do part of work? I like designing and some CS & admin work but have very basic web design skills, only have built a few non-ecommerce weebly sites (switching to WP), now have Divi which still feels like a long learning curve for creating websites. Just to watch the process is already overwhelming 🤓. Anyways, maybe once the fundamentals are build it can become easier and more like a smooth ride :).

Hey! Sure, you can do that-just set your custom products on the Printful dashboard as "ignore". Also, you'll need to set up your own flat shipping rates, as our plugin won't be able to calculate shipping rates for non-Printful items. Feel free to contact our Customer Support for extra help!

The reason why you saw so many products as unavailable, is that we’ve disabled product push function for AOP products worldwide and DTG+embroidery in the US and Canada. It means that you won’t we able to add new products from these categories to your store, however, it doesn’t affect previously synced products. We are doing this to fight our backlogs in the bestselling categories, and will enable it as soon as our fulfillment times improve. We already enabled AOP for Europe yesterday and other countries will follow next week. DTG and embroidery will take a bit more time, but updates are following soon.

I am just about few days from going live with my woocommerce store integrated with printful.. I live in NY I have permit to sell in NY ..however if I want to sell to customers in other states are you saying I shld get permit from those states before I can sell to them ?

Hey, a permit or a resale certificate for a certain state would mean that you won’t be charged sales tax on orders shipping to that state. However, you'd still be responsible for taxes on your end. Hey! That won't be possible at this time. Please note, that we don't receive your customer's payment at all. This is how our billing works. There are two separate transactions happening once an order is placed: 1) Your customer pays you for the order through the payment platform you have set up on your store 2) You pay us for the order through the billing method you have added in the "Billing" section of your Printful dashboard. Your customer pays you the retail price you have set up on your store, and you pay us Printful price for the product and fulfillment. Shipping costs and taxes (if applicable) come additionally. Hey Lope! You might be using the mockup generator instead of the product push generator. To start adding your products to the store, go to your Printful dashboard -> "Stores" and choose your WooCommerce store. Then click on "Add product".

Hey! Something went wrong with sync. Last sync error: Printful is unable to access the Woocommerce API. Try regenerating API keys in WooCommerce Settings > Advanced > Rest API and copying the API Key and Secret to Printful > Settings > Stores > your Woocommerce store.. Try to refresh data. It's not possible on one website, but there are Geo Redirect plugins available that redirect website visitors by country, state, or city.

Product personalization tool currently works only with DTG and embroidery products, and wall art. no matter what I do I cannot get printful to upload the product to woocomerce, I have managed to have one product add images to the media library but the product was not setup in woocomerce products. I wasted a whole day trying to get the API to work.

Hi Git, I am facing the same issue. I noticed that for me, this error comes when I push products with png images, whereas, if I choose jpg format for the mockup images, it pushes the products without any issue. Check out if it helps.

when trying to add products to the store i get this error, 'Product was not added! Failed! The request couldn't process fast enough, please increase the maximum execution time on your server. If that doesn't help, check your server error logs. That's all we know. Hi Will! This error is somewhat common, but it's not something Printful can fix. This issue occurs when PHP code in WordPress takes too long to run and reaches the maximum time limit set by your hosting provider. The solution depends on the root cause of the problem. The best course of action is to contact your hosting provider and find the root cause of the problem to resolve it. You can also ask the hosting provider to increase the PHP max execution time for your website, depending on the configuration of the server.

Hi, Raju! It works like this - when an order is placed on your storefront, there are two different transactions happening. One between you and your customer, and the other one between you and Printful. The difference between these two transactions would be your profit. The retail price you set for your customers is completely up to you, but our charges can always be seen when visiting out website. Hey! When using our Product Personalization Tool, you as a store owner set the font and your customers can type their text. They won't be able to choose the font themselves.

Hi, unfortunately, Product Personalization tool is no longer supported by WooCommerce and only works with Etsy right now. However, we are looking into alternative options to offer instead. 🙂
