There is no need to pair your phone to the radio using Bluetooth in order for CarPlay to work. It is amazing to me how little training dealerships get on the technology added to the very bikes they sell. It just makes them look bad all around.
This actually makes it aggravating when trying to use car play as the phone will connect through Bluetooth and the bike doesn’t give the option to use CarPlay via usb. Maybe they’ll update the firmware for Bluetooth CarPlay in the future
I had that done in my bike. You can’t use Siri or full speech commands but I never use them anyway. They flash the radio at the dealership and turn the mic option off so you don’t need to have a wired/wireless headset.
How do I set up Apple CarPlay on a 2022 Road Glide? I had it working once (today), but never was able to have it work again. When it worked, I could see Google Maps, Apple Music, etc on the Harley screen, just like in my car with Apple CarPlay. Thanks for any help you can provide!
You failed to mention you’ll need a WHIM module ($300) a wired or BT headset ($240-$350) as well as a reprogram flash from the dealer for it to work and that’s not including installation labor if you’re not confident doing it yourself.
The thing that bothers me the most is how Harley screwed up the headset that mounts to your helmet. I have had many headsets for my different bikes but harley's design engineers and who ever ok'd the design of their headsets were probably high that day it went into production. Who designs a headset where the cables come out of the top of the unit??? It's suppose to come out at the bottom then gets plugged into the bike. After all these many years it still hasn't been fixed. Good thing JP built one correctly
Hi, everyone I am from Brazil and I am having problems with my 2019 Road Glide Special Boom Box GTS. The Boom Box display is glitching and having kind of magnetic interference like, and the display also had been dislocated a few millimeters to the right. I really do not know what is going on. A few days ago I updated the software and the problems was temporarily gone for a while but, it comes back again. Any thoughts would be good to help me.
with the iphone 11 and the carplay connected the phone calls it doesn't work properly, you don't hear the conversion of the caller as they don't hear us either. It only works by Bluetooth. I have this problem as many more are going through the same situation
from my experience he knows 1000X more on this topic than anyone in the several dealerships I shopped when buying my '21 RG Limited. this video helped me get up and running on apple car play where the selling dealer had absolutely no clue.
You can get apple car play buying a $15.00 jumper. Connects right in where the Whim module goes but you can’t use Siri or voice commands without the mic or headset requirement which is fine bc I never use them anyway
