Any ideas on how to turn off the "always send picture to smartphone" option? I'd rather shoot 100 images and then go choose the best 5-10 for transfer, than needing to go back and delete 95 images after.
I just figured it out on my A7ii. I know your cameras are more advanced and you've switched. But just in case you do still use your Sony, simply go to your menu on the Imaging Edge app and turn "save options" to off. It will save directly to the memory card.

For those having trouble with the 'Touch To Focus', I believe this functionality is dependant on your mobile device (and possibly OS version of that device). I tried this functionality on my Samsung Android Tablet (Android version 10) and the 'touch to focus' functionality wasn't there - in fact I couldn't even get the app to run in 'video mode' at all (it was stuck on 'photo mode', even though I was on video mode in the actual A7SIII). But then I tried the app on my iPhone x (14.4 software version) and the video mode works perfectly WITH touch to focus (just like in Javier's video). So from my experience at least, the touch to focus works on iOS devices, not Android. (on my devices at least). BTW Thanks for this excellent video Javier!
*When I press connection to get the wifi SSID it just sits in Wi-Fi Standby. QR code same problem, says QR not recognised like the SSID is blank as I have looked at the wifi details also and it shows blank except for Mac address. I did a firmware update too and nothing again*
QR code never worked. NFC finally worked after like 5 tries. PITA I found. Now, it connects but while I can focus, I get no red dot in the circle and can't take a pic! For me, it's been anything but fast and simple to set up and use.
I was so surprised when I tapped my phone and saw it happen the first time..."wait a minute, did it just...I think it just...no...it just did! YEahhhhh!" (my thought process)
Not sure if I'm missing something but my Sony A6500 has a different menu format ("Wireless" not "Network"). It doesn't seem to have a Control with Smartphone option. Does anyone know if there's a different way to connect to the Imaging Edge App?
I cannot believe we are in 2021 and all these app's are so 1990's. I got it to connect but it loses connection all the time. I have an A7rIII and Iphone and just gave up. I will just buy a cheap 15.00 connection cable from amazon...
It looks a bit complicated, compared to my previous Canon app. Are there any other apps? I'm a bit scared off by the rating of Sony Imaging Edge in the Play Market (1,9*)
And now I know why the rating of the app is so low. I downloaded the app, connected it to the camera, took an image via my Android phone (focusing did not work), and after I reviewed the image in the camera, the phone completely stopped working. I can't do anything on my phone and open any app for 5 minutes now - I will have to restart the phone. :(
Thank you for the video, but the app is truly horrible. Does not focus in picture mode. The only way to use it is with manual mode, but I actually wanted to use it to shoot myself from far away. Completely useless.
I'm trying to use the app with the a7siii but every time I switch the camera to movie mode I receive a "Remote operation unavailable. Check the camera." but I'm still able to use the app in camera mode, however touch to focus doesn't work on the app. Any ideas?
Hey there. Can you please confirm that touch focus is still working for you on the A7SIII? Mine used to work just like yours but now I can't get it to work. Talking to a sony rep said touch focus was never available for the A7SIII, but this is proof that it does or did work at some point.
Is that possible to use my Xperia 1 II smartphone as a Sony A7 III monitor (instead of camera 3'' LCD screen) when connected by USB cable (or HDMI cable) rather that Wi-Fi?
Seems like Sony have dropped app support for the A7iii, mine just won't connect and when I eventually manage to get it to work a message pops up saying the camera isn't supported.
Sony A7M3 when using imaging edge, when my camera is connected to my phone the pictures get put onto the phone immediately, by passing the camera memory completely , I want my pictures to be saved on the SD card on the camera not onto my phone, but I can't seem to stop it from doing that?
I have an original a7s and none of these connection modes worked. I was only briefly able to send photos to my phone, but not control the camera in any way. Can you help me?
On the a7IV it asks me to use 'some other app to control your camera' Links me to Creators' App where I must create a Sony account. Is there any other way?
This was super informative. Unfortunately mine won't connect. It keeps aborting the operation. But i learned a lot from this video. Just wish it worked for me. Thank you for this. I enjoyed the set up. This is a great video.
Is there a way to preview and select if you wanna keep the videos after recording? I have an old Canon and just switched to a Sony ZVE-10. And on Canon, I had the Canon software where i could control the camera to focus, shoot and record as well. And I was testing the sony one, the pictures go straight to the computer, but is there a way to do this with the videos as well? - Record it, watch it, discard or keep it without have to unplug the USB and all?
No way to display histogram or waveform. F-ing useless. HTF am I supposed to see if I am over/under exposed when the camera is out of reach? Next level stupidity. Take a bow Sony.
Why does Video Recording dosent be stored on sd card directly? Is there any way to control recording stop and go with remote control but to be stored directly on memory card??
My new a6100 won’t connect. I tried all the ways and it simple won’t connect with my phone. I managed yesterday to link the camera to the app, so it’s showing there, but when I click “start” it shows connection failed 😭 I am tired and frustrated
I'm thinking about buying the a6700 and wondering about geotagging. Looks like the only way to achieve this is through this process of linking to my iPhone. But I don't necessarily want to control the camera, just use the iPhone to capture the GPS location of the photos I take. Is that possible?
The video moves little to fast for my 75 year old brain but the instructions are brilliantly illustrated. It would be even more helpful if a link was provided to a written transcript.
For anyone else interested in a transcript version of this (or any youtube video), there should be an option at the top right of the youtube window in your browser labeled Transcript & Summary. They're auto-generated, so note that it won't be perfect, but you can follow it.
Hi: I have an chinese version a7c but can not change the language because it has not that option. If I pair my Android with my a7c with this sony mobile app , the phone will show in english or chinese? Thanks in advance
finally, I succeeded - thank you very much for your help and this step-by-step video. The third method was what actually helped. And resetting mobile data, Bluetooth and wifi also was the trigger that solved the problem
Not sure if the touch focus question has been answered below. It will only work in photo mode with certain focus points. I use tracking expandable spot.
Please help me - Sony a6000 when i am trying to send the image from imaging edge mobile app i am getting error message as Could not obtain image please reply why this edit is coming
Subscribed! Watch my videos get better now that I've found someone I can actually learn from. Don't know why this guys teaching style is so much better to me
@@armando.visuals Thanks! Just found out that was caused by using Flexible Exp. Mode under video setting. I believe it is a software issue that needs to be fixed.
Thank you... I had seen a lot of videos that promised to deal with this subject and could not help me connect... Your explanations were so clear that I managed to connect easily in the first attempt... Thanks a ton
The fact that you can’t connect the a6400 camera to a wifi network and devices have to connect directly to it makes the feature useless to any studio setup
How are you, I hope you are fine Can you help me, I have a problem, in a device zoom H5 I cannot record as clearly as you do, I have a device zoom h5 and rode ntg4 +, I hope you will help me solve this problem. Really, I do not know what is the solution, what are the settings that you do inside the device, and what is the audio modification program
As i can see in the app that video playback is not available . Means when i want to see recorded footage in the app. . If anyone can help me on this .Or this is like this only ?
I just wished the exposure meter [-2.+2] would show up In the display of the phone . That would be a big plus!!! I am very surprised with how very little latency lag it has. This app saved my ass in a shoot. I did forget my mars 400s and the app saved the day lol
Hi, thanks for the video, I want to ask you something: I have a A6600 and when I use the img app in video, the focus tap in my iPhone it doesn't work, do you have some idea?
