So just a heads up for everyone who is into music, and actualy wants to convert their own monitors, if you have an external power supply everything is alright, but the internal one takes up too much space it will change the sound of the speaker, and basicly make them worse sounding, because speakers ar big and empty for a reason, because the presure and stuff (for more info look up videos im not the best of explaining) but overall a great video

Awesome set up and tutorial. Hopefully I can use this to get my home studio set up. Don't feel like spending 200 bucks on monitors

Nice one mate. Thats just helped me to create my own monitor speakers for my dj studio than spending crazy money on speakers just because of its brand.

you missed the point of monitor speakers. it's not wether they are active or passive but how flat they sound. This video shows how to make any passive speakers active, not convert them into studio monitors

thanks for the vid, PD. do you think that putting all that stuff inside the box would change the characteristics of the speaker from the other one with more empty space? I'm looking into converting a subwoofer.

One question here is you bypassed the crossover on the active speaker. Did you do the same on the slave speaker that is powered from the active one?

um...im thinking of applying this to my monitors, but i want to be able to get a stereo output, so that i can plug the Left and Right channels into my audio interface.....any tips on how to modify the above to achieve that purpose (since the board only gives one input ) ? thanks !
@PDhandmadecreations

this amplifier board does not have a signal output (the only output is for the speakers) but you can split the signal from the source using something like that:www.thomann.de/gr/rockboard_flat_patch_y_splitter_cab_30cm.htm?glp=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw5p_8BRBUEiwAPpJO68FUqAC5HjlLIfUxjM8CUwRmHDXqWTrSIS-bpE_rklCAQGjPF38I6xoCVGgQAvD_BwE and www.aliexpress.com/i/32850663895.html i hope i was helpfull

@@PDhandmadecreations So, this splitter goes into my audio interface or the monitors ?? Because i really need a stereo signal , so that i can make hear how i change the panning of my songs from Left to Right and vice - versa Thanks !

I get mixed messages from these videos. Are the passive subwoofers in need to be plugged in to a wall or is it the active ones? I'm looking to do this but the other way around with a 200w subwoofer. (From being in need to be plugged in to a wall to being able to play without being plugged in to a wall.)
@joewilliams4198
@joewilliams4198 3 года назад
You can’t play a speaker without it being plugged into the wall, apart from if you have a battery

So passive speakers (all of them) dont have power suplies, they get their power form amps, or mixers, active speakers have their own amps and powersuplies built in so they need power themselves, pasive is much cheaper, but active is easier to use, thats why i was watching this video 😅

Hi, thx you for that video. Do you think this can be done for transform a passive subwoofer to an active one ( and wire it with RCA to an 5.1 Amp (on the pre amplified output) and not on LR channel)? And if yes, how can I know the watts needed for the Amp (which will be a mono so 1x XX Watts or stereo without using the second input) thx :)

if this pre amplified output delivers only signal and not power you can use it. If not you will have to use another output if there is one available on your 5.1 amp .The amplifier board you will use for your subwoofer usually have an integrated crossover thank you

@PDhandmadecreations

I'm not sure that placing power supply inside the box is good idea, because doing this you diminish it's inner space.
