I loved that you recognised how simple the 'boil up' was and how you were able to 'taste' each item as individual flavours. Also, just so you know - the vinegar and chips (and fish) is more an Australian thing - as NZder's are more of a 'Watties Tomato Sauce' nation - had with most everything, but your batter did look amazingly crispy (despite the greasiness - which most NZders like anyway). Good on you mate - you did well. :-)

The green banana is usually boiled and then at the end u add mayo & coconut cream for a sauce and that’s what u eat with ur food in place of rice or whatevaaaaa 😇

What I love about your channel is that your not afraid to step outside of your box to try different varieties of meals from different countries and you make meals from scratch! One of the best!

I'm not sure how flavorful your boil broth would have been, Maori normally use 2-3 different cuts of meat be it brisket, chops, bacon bones or pork bones etc for a heartier flavor. Also Maori boil usually has kamokamo (young marrow), pumpkin and Kumara (sweet potato/yam), potatoes, and watercress with doughboys (doughboys optional as is the corn and the taro). The way you done the watercress thou is perfect bang on. Watercress can also be substituted with cabbage, taro leaves or puha/sow thistle. Fish and chips, mince and cheese pie, hearty kiwi faves. Awesome of you to take your time out to replicate a mix of Kiwi kai.

Why have I never seen this nz video? I wat h all the time and I’m apart of the notification gang!... FYI live the Samoan way of cooking mussells but a lot of the elders like them marinated in malt or apple cider vinegar, and BROWN sugar, BROWN!, not white BROWN, red onions, some put tomatoes & capsicum. 3 tablespoons brown sugar 1 cup of vinegar. That’s a rough recipe.. though it really is up to taste.. nobody really uses a recipe book 🤣😂🤣 But you’ll know when it’s ready. Leave it for an hour over night is better. This bitter taste in the mussel goes away the longer you leave them.
