It worked! for those who did not work for you, you can't copy entire folders with files inside! you would need to select the files you want to copy and Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V
If you have any more than a few files or have any folders at all, the much better way to do this is to click the folder you want to copy, then click the 3 dots at the top, then download it as zip. Unzip it and then open the folder you want to copy to, and move/upload the unzipped files there.
Additionally, you can check a checkmark in the settings of the destination drive, that says you want to convert uploads to the google drive format. I did this, because otherwise all google drive-made documents will be docx (office format) instead. This is because downloading them puts them in office format for local editing. I do hope this whole thing doesn't mess up spreadsheets though. Haven't tested that yet.
I have files in GBs. So, i did not want to use my internet bandwidth and instead use google's internal movement itself. This copy to clipboard as well download upload takes away half of my monthly limits. Any idea around that ?
@jaspreetmodi is this method work for large size file like for 1gb to 4 as I have to copy one drive folder to my drive as I want to store it so how can I do it
@@saurhub46 one drive nahi. .. yaha google drive ki baat chal rahi hai. If yours is google drive, you can obviously download as much as you want to your machine and store it.
It appears to me that copy copies to the clipboard which is my local. So, affectively am i using my internet bandwidth ... ? just like a download upload would ? This is a problem if i have GBs of files coz monthly data is limited.
If I am given a shared folder, and I make a copy of the contents, and then my access is restricted, is the copy independent from the source material completely?
Yes, it is. Can this be taken advantage of? Yes, it can. In other words, don't share a folder (or document) with someone that you may want them to not have access to later on.
@@AnsonAlexander You actually should pull this video and do another. How many people have subfolders? Like a zillion. So they will think they can highlight everything files and subfolders and it will copy everything. They will be wrong.
I have a folder I need to share with someone and due to firewalls I need to make a copy of everything shared with me for this project - however there are folders inside of folders - and each folders has a ton of files in it. I'm actually worried about downloading it as zipped I hope it's not too big.
As far as I know, you'll have to use a computer or at least force a the desktop version of the site in a mobile browser - but honestly that would be way more hassle than just using a computer.
Are you saying you're on PC or Mac? I did this on Mac but it really doesn't matter. Make sure you're copying and pasting from the Google Docs edit menu and not using keyboard shortcuts - they don't work very well in Google Docs.
