Something to practice while self isolating! Sending love to you all💕🤗 - Update: The amount of people leaving comments/sending me photos on IG that have learned how to cornrow with this video has truly blown me away! I've been ready to cry at all the people finally able to cornrow their daughter and sons hair. I'm so proud and thankful y'all are taking time to learn; this means a lot to me! Nothing, but love 💕
I've been trying to learn this for years. This is my first time watching a video made by you which came up on my timeline. I only viewed four minutes of your explanation before trying and I now have the knowledge and experience of completing a "good, clearly observerable" corn roll several times over. Thank you for making this video!!!
This was the best most straight forward tutorial perfect for me ! I literally skipped to 3:18 & got it down while doing it with her. 23 years of my life & this is my first time successful doing cornrows on myself . I damn near cried. I’m now not totally useless!
You were never totally useless to begin with. Flat twists can be easier, so they're always a good idea for those who can't cornrow! They still look good and nobody knows the difference. 😂😂😂
Moscow Moscow I feel ya! I’m fully black but I’ve had relaxers & texturized in my hair bc no one attempted to try my natural hair. So for the last 2 years, YT has rlly been my bestie 😭🤣
Honestly y’all the key is really being ok with trying over and over lol. I have 4c hair and I just started being able to cornrow my hair from watching this video. The braids are not neat but they are not bad when I did them. Practice makes perfect.
I literally tried on my daughter’s hair (I usually did twists) and got it the first try watching this video!!!! Thank you so much, I was smiling the rest of the braiding!!!
My apologies in advance if this is too much ~ I’m no creep, no nut job, not a freak, not a stalker, and MOST certainly; NOT A TROLL. What I 'Am', is a Woman of God who sees beauty (timeless beauty non the less) all throughout this Gorgeous Earth. . . Here, as I read I come across this almost unbelievable comment, to which is yours Thompson. 51, if I wasn’t a believer in Jesus Christ and God our Father; I would be commenting to say you’re full of pookie, no lie!!! I pray to the Good Lord above for Him to bless me with a IMPECCABLE beauty such as your own (in my own way of course). Not trying to look just like you, I just want to "look just like you." Ya know what I’m saying!? You’re effortlessly ageless Darling. I had to say a little somethin’ somethin’, just encase you were not made aware, or haven’t been made aware!! Once again, I’m not creeping, I’m not peeping, I’m not trolling and I’m not judging. I’m full heartedly admiring and complimenting you, Ms. Thompson. 🌸🙏🏽 Take care. God Bless!
Thank you so much for this!!! White girl trying to learn how to braid my black sister's hair, here, and I wanted to practice on my own first so hers actually look nice 😂 All the other tutorials were for working on someone else's head, though, so this was SO helpful. Thank you! 💕💕
Let me tell you something... I'm 25 yrs old and could never cornrow anyone's hair, let alone my own. I have hairstylists in my family that have tried teaching me and nothing! I've watched countless RU-vid videos trying to learn and I just couldn't get it, so I gave up. Just thought that it wasn't meant for me to learn. Then your video popped up on my feed the other night so I watched it and saved it. The next day I washed my 5year old daughter's hair, played your video, and followed along. And I DID IT!!! I actually managed to get four cornrows on her head. I nearly cried because I could only do boxbraids before and now the possibilities are just endless. To be honest, not being to cornrow made me feel like less of woman 😔 but the way you explained and demonstrated it was so clear. Girl!!! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart, sending you a big ol' hug!!! Bless!!🙏🏽♥️♥️
My problem is that I can’t grab equal/consistent sections of hair once I get started and I end up accidentally pulling hair from my other sections, even if I tie it off 😩
Hi, I’m a black 14 year old and my grandmother has been doing my hair till I was 8 and my mom has done it since I was born till 5, I have been doing my own hair since I was 10, it’s really big and kinda of long to the middle of my back I’ve progressed a lot and have been practicing braids for months but still can’t get the hang of it till now, thank you❤️
you got this! theres plenty of us out there who have had our moms or salons do our hair into our adult years, and continuing! its not easy when nobody really teaches you
Seeing These Comments Of Other Black Women Saying They Didn’t Know How To Cornrow Makes Me Feel Better About Being A Black Women Who Doesn’t Know How To Cornrow 🥰 Thank You For Teaching Us !
how comes it's easy for me to watch but when it comes to make it,it's difficult 4 me Oooh am even crying 😭😭 I wish I can make it like this girl in the video
As a white mum to 6 mixed daughters (and 2 sons) I taught myself to cain row once my eldest was about 3 (shes 16 now) but in all this time I have never been able to do my own hair....until now. Seriously on my first attempt I got a perfect cainrow and I am literally soooo happy. Thank you so so much. And 4 days before my birthday too. Sending you love, peace and light xxxxx
This is so easy to understand, I get the technique of it but it just when it comes to grabbing hair my brain is scattered and all of a sudden my fingers dont work.
Check where your hands are. If they are at your side try placing them towards your back and depending on which hand is your dominate hand that's the hand you use to grab and tuck... if that makes sense.
I'm a 25 year old woman who's pushing herself to learn and master this in 2021. Your video is the only one that's made the most sense to me. Thank you so much for posting.
@@miajoelle Shiddddddd all 3 of us then because I can't either. 😂😂😂 It's ok. Most people don't know the difference between twists, individuals and dreads, so they won't know the difference between cornrows and flat twists either. 💀
Just tried and it didn't come out as neat but I DID IT! Always have to come back here no matter how much other videos I've watched. Thank you Dope! Now to practice to perfection. And I will be moving on to doing box braids next.....
I feel so slow watching this. I feel like I’m in math class. I stare at her hand movements and think I got it but I always mess up. I’m too old to not know how to do my own hair.
This was SO GOOD! Honestly the best and simplest instructions for cornrowing…especially on your own head!! I will be practicing more because there are so many styles I want to do on my own self! Also very comforting the amount of ‘us’ here in the comments that didn’t know how to cornrow. I really thought I was one of a VERY few!
YASSS Y'ALL WE DID THAT 🌹💯❤❤❤ *My message to the ladies and gents trying this:* Don't give up! Scream and curse all you want. I know your fingers may not know where to go at first.. Or maybe the hair just keeps unraveling n being hella disrespectful lmao. But don't give up. Put those fingers right back in that damn head and try again! I tried watching a video like this maybe a year ago but I didn't have the patience. I think we just give up too fast when we can't get something right. Keep trying and eventually it will happen! Trust me ❤ *P. S.* Thank you for this video beautiful!! It was really helpful! I finally know how to work the fingers lol. It's not looking great at all but I definitely got a cornrow in my head 🤣❣
Sis......there are no words to express my gratitude lol. My cornrows may look a hot mess, but thanks to you I dont have to pay someone to braid my hair down just to throw on my favorite wig. GOD BLESS YOU SIS, and thanks for actually teaching us how to do it instead of simply saying WaTCh mY FiNGeRs
Sis, your video is one of 2 that helped me learn! I look like Madea Goes to Jail but ion even care. I can finally do it! 🙌🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽 Got a little piece of my black card back.
Thank you so much for this. I’d given up on cornrows until I saw this video & immediately it made sense. I tried and I’m now rocking my first set of cornrows by me in the 31 years of my life 😂💚
You explained this so well other people will be like “just look at my fingers” and don’t explain you explained to the point that my impatient tail kept trying 😭 I will eventually get it but my cousin who is a licensed hair stylist told me “practice makes better” cause no, nothing is perfect
Honestly, out of all the videos on the internet that I’ve watched, this is by far the best video explaining it. Thank you so much, I can finally cornrow 😭❤️❤️
Thank you, thank you , thank you. Im 15 and I've been trying to learn how to conrow my one hair for about 3 days now and no video has helped me as much as this one. This video is so detailed and just makes so much more sense than a lot of the videos that I have been watching, I feel like this is truly for beginners. I literally started balling out crying because I was having such a hard time figuring out how to get comfortable doing a cornrow, although i'm not the best YET I'm getting there and I have to thank you for that. Any one out there felling like you cant do it, believe in yourself , slow down, breathe and just try. You might not get it the first time and that's okay but at least you're getting closer to achieve your goal and when you do you'll be so proud of yourself. 💖💖
Wow, I am 55 years old and was never taught how to cornrow. People assume because being Black, you MUST know. My daughter is now 19 and I always did her in twists or regular braids. Thank you for taking your time and showing what to do if you make mistakes. Much appreciation!! Stay blessed and beautiful young lady!!
I'm a 74 y o. Caucasian and I'm just now trying to learn to braid my own hair! What was so helpful to me was how she emphasized how to go beneath that middle strand. I'm going to try. Wish me luck.😉
@@lenoremarisol8938 Well, praise the Lord! I'm glad. I had a stroke in 1996 & my hair is longer now, because it's actually easier to deal with when I can put it up. I hadn't been able to braid my hair at all, even just plain old braids. My right hand was affected by the stroke. My whole right side, really. Those videos encouraged me to try again. I have nothing but love & appreciation for others.
@@candygardner4440 wow thats so admirable, im so happy your still okay, even after your stroke, ur a strong women!! Do braids all you want, now i only see it as cultural appriciation, thank you for finding beauty in braids!
Oh my gosh! I am so happy I found this video 😆 I randomly did it on my hair despite it not being in the best condition at the moment. It wasn’t perfect, in fact, it was far from perfect BUT I followed the steps and it came out, like you could see what I was tryna do, if that makes sense 🤔
I have been trying to learn how to cornrow for a year now by watching RU-vid videos but never understood. Today I tried again and I managed to do my first cornrow by only watching your tutorial ONCE. Thank you!!!
Listen... I RARELY comment and I know this was posted 2 years ago, but it took me 4 videos and 25-30 wasted minutes to get to this video. Not only are your steps super clear but you also have the camera at an angle that makes sense! Sheesh!! THANK YOU! My baby's corn rows aren't the cleanest but they're not coming apart either! Imma keep practicing.😁
I real life opened up my RU-vid app to search “how to cornrow your hair” and I looked in my subscription section and saw this video😭😍 I love this, it was so helpful sis!
This explanation is so simple but dang I feel like I still don’t get it yet. Like when I get it started and keep on grabbing sections the pattern just unravels and the cornrow doesn’t form 😩 if I continue it creates a 3 stand twist. Gonna keep at it tho I hope I learn how to cornrow in the next month or so.
funny enough I know how to cornrow it just never comes out tight or neat... I don't do it often so I'll just keep practicing until it's more to my liking. Meanwhile, my single father somehow learned how to do all this for me when I was young and I didn't even think to learn from him. Lol
im so saad everyone's saying they got it and im SO confused 😭 i don't understand what happens to that middle piece after you grab the first bit of hair.
My mom is forcing me to learn how to do my own hair now, since I'll be graduating in 2 years 😂😂 Every other video I've seen has just been stressing me out because it looks so complicated but you make it look so easy! Honestly, your a godsend! Thank you for making this video 😭🙏🌟
Ayee, look, Sis.. Being a guy who's been growing and plaiting/braiding (I'm UK) my hair the whole time, I've Always said: Once I Learn How To My Canrow My Hair, It's Peak!! I have now... Learnt the technique. Thank you.. Sensei 🙇 (edit) Look, yeah.. I'm sorry to gas but, I'M GASSED!!! I CAN FINALLY CANROW MY HAIIRR!! hairdressers and £20 be Gone!! One luv sis.

Sis, l have been struggling for YEARS with cornrowing my own hair. Watched your video and guess what??? I did my 1st cornrow and it looks GREAT!!!! Thank you sis! You go, girl!!
Gawd you're Gorgeous! Lol I'm letting my hair grow on top of my head so I can try some cornrows. At 52, old white guy😂, I'm realizing my shoulders aren't as strong as they used to be. This is also a good shoulder workout 💪🤮🤣. I'm trying but it's tough, especially looking in the mirror. I'll keep practicing because you said so 👍
girlll thank you so much, i’ve been wanting to learn to cornrow since high school and could never get it down. I feel like i just unlocked a superpower!!😭😭 Your tutorial was SO clear and easy to follow, thank you again, I thought I’d never be able to get this skill😩
Let me give kindly follow you for this😋❤️ though i haven't yet started practicing😌😁 otherwise thank you for this braid tetorial hope i learn how to...🥺🤲🏽❤️
This is the most clearest video I’ve watched. Will be trying out by force cuz I need my hair under a wig soon😭 update: i could not get pass the first grip LOL. my fingers gets lost when i try to add on.
I've watched a lot of con row videos but this is so my best so far, I understood it so quickly and I'm going to practice as soon as I loose my hair. And would give a feedback. Thanks❤
Man.. as MANY times I’ve tried to braid my hair, it’s a fail every damn time. My fingers and hands get all mixed up & fucked up! I get irritated and quit!! I work too much & be way exhausted to be in the mirror all day to perfect braiding my hair! Shit sucks! Looks like I gotta start paying ppl to braid my long ass hair! Any takers?! 👻🙋🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
I’ve watched my fair share of how to cornrow your hair videos, but this is by far the best video yet!! I was finally able to do it!! Thank you so much and yass stay poppin my African sista!! 🇳🇬💁🏾♀️ #weouthere
