Just purchase week and a half ago, the 6530, also using trigger wheel. Software reading double the RPM that my tachometer is reading. And yes, I changed the software to the correct total cylinders in the tree. 2 different Tech support guys had no answer to this problem.....I just sent it back so they can look inside the box. Hope they find the problem!
Great video. I have had the same MSD box for 25 years, still running. Question: Do you need to put an inline fuse from the battery to the MSD box. ever in the, and do you ever run the box through a relay? The relay using the trigger wire would be a great anti theft adition.
Summit (msd) sbc igntion box, dist. Recently developed a crank/no start or hard start condition Used to run Summit brand 8mm wires always fired up Put Napa premium Belden 8mm on. Could this be an issue? Meaning too much resistance? Everything in the car is brand new .Wires nuts bolts you name it. Tired of throwing parts and on disability cant afford to Thx PS Neighbor insisted on buying me the fancy NGK platinum?? plugs are those any good or just stick to Autolite 3924? WAnt to trust this car again

Man I’m struggling with my 6al... 95 mustang GT it’ll flash five times but still start. It’ll run for a little bit. Even days. With a Little Miss in it And a sputtering idle... then out of nowhere it’ll break down and won’t start for a while. It’s even backfired if you times. I’m just really stuck I replace distributor Cap and rotor. I don’t even make the car not ride right the shift doesn’t feel right when is acting up and about to die... Sometimes it will fire up perfect And run great... New plugs new wires the only codes I’m picking up the EGR which has been removed. Thermactor Air system and left and right side which would be the smoke pump It’s sure it’s been removed as well... I’m still gonna do the field test tomorrow any information would be helpful I can upload videos as well
On the fence with this product, what’s its actual benefit? Do I need to run this with my MSD coil & distributor or is this just to allow me to control my rev limiter? I’m curious because all the information and comments seem to show people reporting issues with 6AL, seems to be that it’s not worth the headache.
The box gives you strong multiple sparks which are greater than a stock ignition system. I have a 6AL model 6420 which is analog and not digital cause I didn’t want the known failures of the digital box since the new boxes are made in China. Pick up a used one that was made in USA.
I have had this same box on my 1965 Mustang 289 using a 1985 5.0 stock Ford distributor, stock cap and rotors and 1985 stock Standard Igniiton coil for 35 years. It still runs perfect. And in 35 years I have the same components: distributor cap & rotor , coil, plugs, plug wires. I have never touched it since I installed it. Now I can't comment on any made in china box. But my US made box is great. And now having the internet and videos, great. 35 years ago I had the manual. Engine: 289 bored 40 over, REED cam, dual plane manifold with a 650 Holley, roller rockers, 5spd TREMEC, aluminium drive shaft, 3:55 possy dif. And for anyone who had read this far, if you want to know my personal modification using all original parts to get the car to handle better than a Shelby Mustang, and no nose dive. The car sits level, with 1968 Mustang big block coils with 1/3rd coil cut off. The trick is a little mod on the upper contro arms. When installing new upper control arm bushings shift the shaft rearward giving you more caster. And I hardly have any shims, whcih almost hard mounts the upper arms to the frame. Finish it off with a half leaf on the rear leaf spring. One inch from and 11/16th rear sway bars using adjustabe heim joints. My small claims to fame as a custom car builder: I built a AC Cobra that holds the track record at Road Atlanta and I built the prototype AC Cobra for Exicalibur Motors. I miss those days.
Boxes are junk made in china brittle wires inside box ...got 2 neither one worked then the tech line said not supposed to have 12volt power at coil..lol even wen cranking 4 volts spark so weak they don't even ask you to test spark at plug!!! How can you have power to plugs if no 12 volt power to coil ????!!! Makes no sense 45 minutes of nonsense answers older 90s boxes better unreliable overrated 280 junk mike flashed trigger signal but no power to coil..they said does not work like that ..lol.ya no shit save your $$$$ you can use a stock 4pin GMC ingnition module msd wires are good proubley why I got a Mallory back in 1988. But Holley owns msd Mallory now ... Edelbrock far better carb for reliability prices of plastic breaks off snaps wife there junk don't buy
I blew the first one up on my boat and it was my fault because I had dead batteries and had a battery charger on battery on 12 v crank assist and it fryed the box. It was the 6btm. The second one just stopped working but I was careful and did nothing wrong this time. Lasted 5 years. But price went up 400 Canadian since 2019
That was kind of funny about not making sense especially if you have little knowledge of a basic distributor with a point system 🫤. I do believe if you're really into getting the most out of your vehicle you would put the effort into it it would be very well and a learning experience good luck.
lol try calling MSD for help, right away holley comes on and says they are experiencing higher than normal call volume and wait times maybe longer that usual. bullshit they have been saying that for the last 2 years no matter what time you call.
i have the msd 6 efi box, blaster ss coil and msd duel sync distributor with msd wires but so far im having issue of coils going bad. I have holley dominator efi on big block. what could be causing coils to burn up. Im going try the msd 6 efi coil. Is there chance the blaster ss coil is not able to handle amount of power in ignition system

I need a msd to pull timing can u help I got a 2003 1.8L turbo On nitrus so i need to retarded timimg by 2/4 maybe It's a wet kit. Anyway i see the 6msd and the msd6AL bit I still domt no what to get. Utube only show your kits goimg to a distributor cap. So no good. Please can u help me. I need to no what msd box or control box and what do i need to go with it to pull timimg. Not looking for a 2or 3 stage timing pull Just to run my nos safely when spraying. So i can set it at 2or4 retard as I pull away had spray . Can u help and give me or tell me how do i hock it up . All vids go to the coil big roumd thing old school then to the distributor cap. I even no how two wire and MSD box up to the points on a distributor cap now. Lol but that's not what I want or need help with can u help
The thumbnail shows the ignition box attached to the firewall, with the red led indicator on. Yet, there are no mounting screws in the mounting holes. What witchcraft is this?
6425 6AL key on Engine off I get 1 led blink then goes out, what could possibly be why not getting 5 blinks ? Triggers as I am cranking, car starts and runs, is my box not working properly?
I'm working on 16v project VW scirocco on carbs. My distributor doesn't have vacuum so now without ecu I have spark on 0° Will MSD with higher rpm send spark earlier or it will be the same?
I tested my msd 6al w/key on (not turning over engine) Msd is connected.i did my test w/pick up wires. Not the(wht) and my starter started spinning i had to disconnect the battery for it to stop.Why did this happen?

What if the car runs for a certain period of time and then it shuts off with the box flashing 5 times? I can turn it off and back on and it will start right back up? Thanks for any help
I did the white wire test coil sparked one time and not agin the light comes on flashing 5 times then stops it will flash when turning it over but then sum times it won’t
