There are various ways how some others shorten zippers, it may be quick and gets the job done, but oftentimes it looks incomplete and roughly done. In this video, I'm going to show how I shorten my zippers and to keep that factory look of the zipper, like if it was tailor-made to a certain length for your leather item.

WOW!! Thank you so much for showing the proper way to remove the P without destroying the zipper tape. I have been doing zippers for over 10 years, after watching your video, to learn an easier process as well as the correct way of doing the removal of the metal teeth. Very informative! How do you correctly mesaure width of the lining? Is it just preference how wide I want my bag to be opened or are there some rules?

Do you mean fabric linings? This bag is unlined.

Depends on his long and wide you want the top part of your tote to be when the zipper is shut.

The zipper used in the video is a YKK Excella zipper, which should be pretty easy to find online.
