I have never once encountered the Ray, literally. I didn't know it was even real, thank you for the knowledge and the extra knowledge on countering some of them too, the lights aint what I thought.
Didn't know that shutting off the light can actually get rid of some monsters. Always thought the only reason you have an option to turn on/off the light is because the light occasionally goes out and you'll accidently turn if off again if you panic.
I think I only figured it out because the description for the lights ability in game says “it makes you more visible as well”, and decided to try turning off the lights and not moving early game to avoid the big anglerfish, since I wasn’t fast enough to outrun it yet.
Not afraid of the ocean but DANG. Dredge hits different. Terrifying literally tense the whole video because I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for until it was right on top of you
You can actually reliably outrun the Gale Cliffs serpent without haste, and it’ll eventually stop chasing you for a time. It also won’t leave the safety of the cliffs.
I love how you can get through the entire game never dying, never going completely insane and getting attacked only 2 or 3 times. the uncertainty adds to the atmosphere and i loved it, but i had to look up about half the content of the game when i finished it to know what i missed lol
yeah. if you never get red eye panic, you miss more than half the content in the game. There's a secret ending, and item descriptions also change if your panic is orange-eye or higher
@@BlackZones55With Subnautica I almost get it. There are some parts of that game that are more chill. DREDGE IS NOT CHILL. The calmest I ever feel playing it is a faint sense of unease.
I watched this video last night, first time hearing about Dredge, and now I bought a Nintendo Switch. First game I buy for it? Dredge. Thanks for luring me into this game, I'm having so much fun! And I'm ready to not die too fast.
this game is exactly what im afraid of about the ocean, being above water but not knowing whats truely below you, shivers down the spine just with thinking about it
Woah, you really put effort in video! Even tho I'm not playing this game and actually searching idea of what sea monster to animate... You're really a good content creator
La verdad muy esclarecedor. Pensé que la única función de la luz era evitar estamparte con una roca, nunca se me ocurrió que podía atraer algo. Muchas gracias por todo, saludos desde Argentina. The truth is very illuminating. I thought the only function of light was to keep you from hitting a rock, it never occurred to me that it could attract something. Thank you very much for everything, greetings from Argentina
I just platinumed the game this weekend , and not only did I not know half of this, I didn’t even see some of these monsters. Wish I’d known about the thermal vents for the piranhas, those things were annoying! I had no idea about turning off the lights for the miasma, and I thought the foghorn was just for cute funsies and saying hi to the Angler. 😅
As someone with severe thalassaphobia that has an addiction to torturing myself with watching these kinds of games i almost pissed myself in the first 10 seconds
I’ve never heard of this game before, but I had a dream about a game that was remarkably similar, other than being a top down view. So cool to see that this exists
are some of these exclusive to PC? I’ve played this game to completion multiple times and didn’t even know a few of these monsters existed! There’s a kraken???
As far as I know, there are no version exclusives. I play on my Xbox primarily. A lot of them are pretty rare, and they only show up at very high panic. It took me an hour of sailing straight to find the Kraken
I think the Kraken only appears in certain areas and the open ocean and only if you’re at high panic levels. If you play sensibly you probably won’t run into it.
It might be algorithm that brought me here since i love subnautica and raft Dredge looks real neat to play too This video guide will surely help a lot :)
Ive known all but the dodging and the miasma one, You like this game? Play Dave the diver! The two games collabed for the DLC aswell! DTD has dredge fish, and some horrifying moments!
The Leviathan Showed up on my first voyage from the Marrows to Gale Cliffs. I thought it was scripted until I watched some other playthoughs. Love this game.
Honestly ive played through this and Ive jever seen a lot of these things since the sanity meter is just a non issue most of the time. Really cool to see
6:36 the T. Rex is not blind and could have the chance of having better eyesight than birds and it would see you before you saw it they also have soft pads on their feet and they aren’t dumb ethier
I beat this game and I didn't know about the majority of these monsters… Just staying roughly within the day cycle (because I figured I would take damage or something staying awake so long), it was a pretty peaceful time until the final area.
i love how you can be saved from the kraken by basically an easter egg! for anyone who doesn't know, it is thought that the tales of the Kraken are glorified retellings of sightings of Giant Squids. Giant Squids frequently fight with Sperm Whales, which is the kind you can see taking a bite out of the tentacle there!
for the gale cliffs serpent, theres a rock to your right you can hide behind. It's the one in frame at 4:20. It wont see you, and then you have a few minutes to traverse the area while it does its little 'loop' (it has a little set path around the area it follows through the little holes which if you avoid buys you some more time, unless it sees you and it diverts). I'm not sure exactly how much time you have. This is the intended way to avoid it before you can banish.
Never even heard of this game but this got recommended to me by the algo. Considering I have a fascination to sea monsters, sea cryptids, and the sea itself, this really caught my attention
ive got over 100 hours in this game and i never realized you can scare off the crows with the horn. i just run to the nearest dock every time they show up lmao
The night angler might be smallbut even the LEVIATHAN can’t compete with the fear that comes with when you honk out your horn at one. Only to hear it honk back from the shadowy depths
One way to get away from the serpent is to go into the cage behind the waterfall in its lair. It can't enter the cage to go after you and will disappear for quite a while after that, works every time.
That monster repel spell works on almost everything and i didnt bother learning any other mechanics after getting it. As of leviathan... i never had problem outruning his range and it seems that banish does work if you are moving... at least did seem to
BOY I KNOW I AM LATE BUT STILL A T REX’S sight is not based on moment they see just as well as Engle it’s only the Jurassic Park T. rex that sees like that and that’s because of its frog DNA (not being rude or anything I just wanted to spread this information :3)
Never encountered most of these monsters in the first half. Mainly just the night time ones and area specific ones and even those I avoided by fishing in places they wouldn't appear at night or figuring them out. I think I saw the kraken twice and both times it was eaten by a whale. The twisters were more common around the south east.
I didn't even know the ray could do anything. One time, I've let it "attack" me, for curiosity's sake, and it just disappeared upon reaching me. Tried it a few more times and it just did the same. Never damaged me in any wya.
Ooh, I didn't know you could scare away the crows with the horn. I like that about this game. You can deal with its monsters. Oh, if only there was a way to deal with that infestation when something slithers aboard. Though I think you can dodge that as I had a few moments when I heard that plopping and just turned to have the final plop stop right beside the ship.
I actually knew all of this, but it was still interesting. The way I usually notice the Ghost Shark btw, is by the sound that it makes... it sounds a bit like a gust of wind whooshing by, and if it attacks from out of sight, being aware of that can save your hide.
Wish I would have realized turning off the lights would solve most of the problems at night before I finished both endings...Just never thought to try it and never look up a guide to find out.
The one thing to be weary of regarding turning off the lights is that at high enough panic levels there are fake rock formations in usually clear water near islands that you can still smash into. Both they and real rock formations only materialize within the reach of your lights. Which gets harder to deal with at faster speeds.
huh, must be some new update. the ray, the frozen zone, and the fact that the leviathan kills you are new to me. the leviathan only ever hit me with its fins. never saw its head
